Did you know NASA's YouTube channel is 720p? Let that sink in.

Regarding your main point though, it is weird why people like Sony, NASA, can't give us the option of selecting 8K/120FPS. Not that I care with my i3 generic PC and 1080p monitor lol

I chose yes because i would prefer the option to watch it 4k60. If my internet provider cant cope with it, then let it autodowngrade

You think any of them new consoles will run full blown next gen games at native 4k? Best case scenario, they'll go for variable resolution down to 1440p during "intense" gameplay.
But Xbox has 12 teraflops, so at 4k each teraflop only has to handle about 700k pixels, which is a piece of cake. Sony, on the other hand, only has 9 teraflops, and each of them has to handle over 900k pixels, which is borderline impossible. I don't know about you, but I'm pretty much an expert when it comes to this stuff, and It's pretty clear to me that PS5 is going the be the only console struggling to hit 4k next gen.

It's inconvenient but as long as the footage that's uploaded is 60fps then I really don't have a problem with it. If they're uploading 30fps gameplay then I'll start to worry.

I'll be honest, not as bothered by the 1080p as I am about the 30fps, the reason given is weird, it's pre-recorded so they couldn't do 60fps? Huh? Sadly it seems like we're in for another YouTube compression dominated showcase over the next few weeks, I don't get why companies don't upload High Bitrate 4k HDR versions for those of us who want to see these new graphics at their best.

No since I currently have only a 1080p TV but what would be a problem is if it is compressed like the Ghost of Tsushima Statte of play.

It looked horrible on stream and way better on the later uploaded video even at 1080p.

I don't remember if TLOU2 stream was horribly compressed if anyone does please tell me.

On Era theyd call you an "entitled gamer" (as if playing videogames and discussing videogames on an online videogame forum is a stigma) for being anything but content with whatever Sony does

Disgusting! I shall not buy a PS5 and forever boycott Sony for this! How DARE they stream at anything less than 8K/120??

THIS IS SO ANTI-CONSUMER!!

If it looks good at 1080p/30fos, it'll look better when playing the games myself.

I just want to see the improvements and graphical fidelity.

They're gonna upload the trailers for each game after the show, and they'll be in 4K.

It doesn't but I hope they release high quality versions of the trailers so I can rewatch the ones that I'm interested in at a higher quality level.

It sucks and I'd prefer a 4K 60fps streaming, but if they want to reveal the video on Youtube and Youtube now caps the prerecorded streams to 1080p/30fps and you need to wait until they are complete to see it on 4K, I'd skip the stream and upload directly the video in 4K, without fake 'live' streaming. Both in Youtube and Vimeo.

For me, what is wrong in these new youtube streamings is not that they cap them to 1080p/30fps, its that they also decrease the bitrate a lot during the 'live' streaming and they look awful. But well, at least when they are done the 4K version of the video is unlocked and looks better.

And I say that without having a 4K tv, but in my 1080p laptop -like in any other 1080p display- to see the videos in 4K is better because downsampling helps with the AA and image quality lost due to compression.

Don't know how a "true nextgen" feeling will come up with this :/ I mean even the Bitrate won't be that high, because YouTube doesn't allow a high Bitrate for 1080p content, only for 4K.

Kind of a bit disappointing to see the first point of contact with Sony next-gen... be a resolution behind the back half of this gen, and cutting out any 60 FPS games.

I think I'll just wait for the trailers after.

It's not the worst thing ever, but these two things and the YouTube bitrate will rob so much detail and impact from the scenes. I wouldn't be surprised if we initially see a 'WTF, the visuals weren't much different' reaction, then everyone changes their mind on the 4K trailers.

I felt a bit that way about Lumen and the Valley of Nanite.

Doesn't bother me at all the stream will be at 1080p/30fps. Besides my internet is not good enough to stream something at 60fps.

It doesn't really matter if the streaming quality is good, the best thing is that after the event we can enjoy all the trailers in 4K from the official PlayStation channel.

I don't care at all. As soon as the stream will be finished, all the trailers will be uploaded everywhere at 4k/60fps.

Nintendo Direct are the same, streamed at shitty quality and then all the trailers are uploaded at better quality.

I don't think so, more FPS with low bitrate would be bad wouldn't it? So I don't care about having the event at 30 FPS 1080 and then having the videos at 4k 60FPS.

Is this a joke?

While higher framerates and resolutions are always nice, I don't absolutely require them to be able to enjoy games and/or presentations. Besides, I have to work that day and won't actually see the presentation live. So most likely, I'll see the higher quality vids later anyway.....and I can pick and choose what I actually want to see, as opposed to having to suffer through stuff I don't care about. And I know there will be a lot of that.

Then there's the fact that my laptop only has a 1080p screen, so......

did any big events was ever being streamed at more than 1080p30 frames?

not being snarky, it is a sincere question.

I watch so much YouTube content at 1440p 60(best my phone can do). Its pretty much the norm.

So it bothers me a little, but at the same time, I'm excited for the things I hear. And im sure any gameplay videos will be made available separately as they are for e3.

1080p/30 is fine.

Mate of mine says he will go on a media blackout and only watch the 4k stream on YT afterwards. Pretty dumb hahaha.

Solution - watch the stream on a smartphone. Everything looks amazing on a 5-6" display, no matter how bad YT wants to show it.

Why should it bother me? I just want to see what game we'll get. I can worry about their framerates closer to launch.

The run off the mill youtuber stream gameplay at 60fps, what kind of losers do their events at 30? Seriously, this is ridiculous, almost as if they had no money or they though that it was still TV years (it's possible that it's made by people who neither play games, nor watch new media... which is a shame).

Anyway, we will still get the most important info during the show, this is just annoying to have a 30fps stream (4k would have been better than 1080p as well... but that 30fps is annoying).

So funny, BluRay quality no longer good enough for some chumps!

Output resolution/framerate matter less than the IQ and content of the source footage. End of.

Yeah, downscale is passable, but 30fps is silly

My only concern is if they hype the event as full of gameplay videos but turns out nothing but trailers. Like to see at least one PS5 exclusive running gameplay, more will be just icing

Yeah... Let's sign the petition to do it in 4K/60 fps.

It'll take only a couple more weeks for them to prepare, but who cares ?
