Need Help Regarding Youtube

So I got a new phone because my old one was dying.

On my new phone, despite being a better phone - as I upgraded from an original LG Aristo to an LG Aristo 5 - Youtube runs and looks terrible on it and I watch Youtube a lot. For instance, it defaults to 144p almost all the time. Watching Youtube at 360p looks even worse than it does on my old phone and it buffers a lot. And then there's all the annoying ads.

Is there an good alternative Youtube apps for Android that could help my situation? I really need one as this one is really tiring.

are you sure its not some sort of connection issue? are you on WiFi?

iirc there are also defaults for streaming quality for the apps, so double check that stuff

The Youtube app does not allow me to set a default quality. I already researched that over and over. On PC Windows it does.

I don't have WiFi. I'm using unlimited 4G.

no quality default seems strange, don't know much about that phone

will deep dive in a second ...

you running through a browser or the android app?

There's a setting called "play HD on Wifi only" in the Youtube App

Did you find the settings section?

Nope there's no setting like that on the app version. I already did a lot of Googling about this and apparently you cannot set a default setting for picture quality on the Android version. Though they're saying that they might include it in an update soon.

The desktop PC version you could do that though.

That's why I was asking about an a good alternative Youtube app instead.

No I'm using the official app but I've tried it through the Chrome browser too.

Use speedtest and tell results.
Well the funny thing my previous phone it worked better and that was an old LG Aristo. This is an LG Aristo 5. I'm with the same service (MetroPCS) and everything else loads up just fine.

so there's no quality setting on the individual video? you can't switch it from "Auto" and force it to load HD?

This is weird, set youtube on hd, go to your phone settings - change your country - put a country that doesn't show adds - desable app notifications of those annoying app adds.

Each individual video I watch I have to set it. It is always defaults to 144p or 240p.

Get youtube vanced from xda-developers. No sign-in on unrooted phones but no ads and screen-off or other-app continuos play. Only using that.

Message me if you need help.

Hey I heard about that a couple of weeks ago but wasn't sure about it.

In fact I just read you CAN set a default quality with that one.

Might try that.

Thanks.

There is some thing with installing a Split package app before that but after a bit of research that seems to be alright, plus I trust xda-developers.

YouTube vanced has improved my life :)

Edit: picture in picture is nice too, great overlay for when I use other apps while wanting to watch youtube.
