As the supposed 4chan leak says... Years of mismanagement. That's why I miss Peter. He's actually someone that cared about games, and not just a marketing man. We all knew that from Xbox's inception almost 20 years ago. I grew up in the time of having a collection that you OWNED whether it was VHS, CDs or DVDs and you had a machine to play exclusive games that someone else with a different machine couldn't.
These days kids have grown up on apps and subscriptions... But they don't understand that you don't actually own anything that way, you're just licensed!

But none of that is important when as you said, with Xbox and Gamepass no longer having that desire of being something that makes you go 'Wow!' like Halo, Mass Effect, Gears and Modern Warfare did back in the day.

But... That's what I want! I want that exclusive premium machine that has exclusive Xbox only games that require me to get the XSX... Not a 10 quid sub I can have on a PC.

And as much as this 4 Chan leak could be false...
We've all seen Halo: Infinite... And I hope no one has forgotten about Crackdown 3! Because it's totally possible that post is 100% true because of precedence.

I suspect he thinks some will stick with Xbox One S or X for two to three years if not buying an X before then. He only needs to be able to say that he wants compatible family of consoles rather than generations and that it's up to the developers to do what they want. He doesn't want people sticking with what they have.

Many of my friends jumped from PS2 to 360. I stuck with PS3 because I was fan of MGS, Devil May Cry, Jack, Silent Hill..... So I was expecting the same from Playstation. Things turned out little different, but eventually Uncharted happened and then followed by MGS4, resistance 2, killzone 2 and the story continued..... now we are at Ghost of Tsushima station. With Sony, The ride is endless

Then he should care if XsX sell more than PS5. He needs his console to sell for people to "engage" in his platform. He cannot sell GP subscriptions in the air.
He definitely care to sell more than PS5. I know that he is just bullshitting. The forecast of XsX is in front of his eyes and he has to explain the numbers before they come out early next year. He needs to find a BS argument to protect his position in the company.

He probably does care. I'm saying he has to appear to be want all generations of Xbox One and foreword to have the ability to be one family.

They're not stupid. They know they don't have enough content related to the XSX for another year, maybe two. They're selling Gamepass and XCloud.

They're prepared for underwhelming sales for the first year despite what they say. It's smart business. Appearances, not How they actually want things in all likelihood.

Usually a console that doesn't sell on its first year will eventually fail.
Also as I said he also has a problem with the content that is under development. Now someone will ask me how do you know his upcoming content is not good when have seen nothing? Well, simply, the problem is in the vision.

Its shambles ,it's over for them & probably Halo.Its just going to be even lower on the FPS shooter list. It's not even cared for now. Whats the player counts in halo games?? It's not about us oldies 30 & over. These young kids don't give a damn about Halo or Chief. They just see a green dusty old space suit toy figure. And load up the top shooters.

You got to look at the monsters coming out. When the next battlefield drops on that PS5 SSD. Frostbite engine might actually work as intended.
UBi just started pushing hyper scape. Alleged socom & resistance reboots , Overwatch 2 , COD & all sorts still to hit the market. To get gold standard quality it will need more than 3 years dev cycle. They can put something out if 343 work from the last halo game it's do able ,but the time & crunch will crush them.Too many bugs will show up.Especially on multi hardware sku roll out. This person crying out is trying tell you some truths. To reach the top tier FPS quality & standard people are demanding its not going to be reached in 12 months. Don't blame 343 if we see Halo in 12 months still looking bad.

There are options.They all cost money & still stinks as ideas. Just buy Crytek & merge 343 together or employ crytek to make Halo/help.
Spend 1-2 billion on bungie & run with Destiny. Or just put Halo on Ice. Playstation let Ip's die & freeze all the time.Why not Halo.

Well, you did say usually.. We all know PS3 eventually got to about even with X360 by the end of the gen.

Here are some possibilities about his vision:

A) He's way off base and Xbox Will fail the gen, at least for a long time.

B) If it's their last console, it will be a streaming and service platform only.

C) We just don't understand his vision.

D) He's completely whacked in the head and should not be in charge.

No matter what the situation is, I always recommend not professing optionsS facts. it rarely ends well.

For the record, in case anyone is wondering about my allegiance... I'm a gaming fan. I buy both consoles and want both to do well. I mainly play on PS because most of the people I've played with for years are on PlayStation. This gen, mainly on PS4, last gen, mainly on X360.

Probably not. There's whatever The Initiative is making. Who knows when that'll be ready. Forza and Hellblade 2 seem early in dev. Probably 2022 games. Maybe Halo and Forza Horizon for fall 2021? Then Hellblade 2 and Forza MS in 2022. Idk. Fable? Seems too soon for when that'll be ready, same with the unannounced Initiative game.
 
I'm skeptical of the $600 price for XSX and/or PS5. By setting that price, they'd be saying "this new console is worth 2 or 3 of the old consoles." Seems a bit much. $500 seems more likely.

Would enough people really buy a PS5 or a XSX for the same price as 2 PS4s or XOneSs or Switches? For $600 you could buy 3 Switch Lites. And last holiday, both the PS4 and the XOneS were on sale for $200.

Is a new next gen console really worth 3x the price of a current gen console? Seems a bit high.

Back to the topic:
I would be very surprised if the PS5 turns to be $600 too, I would expect Sony to go with $500, if this rumour from Series X is true, and Sony undercut for ~$100 the price, MS will have serious problems in the launch, mainly because they probably don't have a very big system seller and is obviously more expensive and less atractive in games than the rival in the launch.

But probably only Series X would have problems, if Lockhart turns to be a holiday console (thing that we already don't know) they can make some money because is a nextgen console more cheaper than the SX and PS5.

Let's wait to time do the work guys, imply more things from now could not be so good.

Well, the thing is...from the state of the game as it was shown, a year delays seems very plausible. It's obvious a lot of work remains to be done and with all the restrictions due to Covid-19, a year doesn't seem like that much time. Now, if they end up revamping the game to make it XSX ONLY, then the year is probably a CONSERVATIVE estimate and I'd expect it to be delayed even longer. Probably more in line with the other XSX exclusives that won't be ready till 2 and maybe even 3 years from now. I mean, that game had PROBLEMS. Would be ok maybe if it was just a current gen game and not your flagship title, but as it is....it needed SERIOUS work.
 
PS5 won't be $599 because Sony decided to produce tons of them for the months to come (10 million). They wouldn't have done that if they didn't know PS5 will be affordable. They expect they'll sell a lot of PS5 before the end of the year. It will be $499 in my opinion. Price can't be low like $399 either because the components they chose aren't cheap at all. Or they'd take a big loss.

XSX I don't know, depends if MS wants to undercut Sony. Things aren't turning that good for Xbox recently, so they may go with $499 too. $599 would make things difficult, especially if they don't build more hype with games.

We already know from Bloomberg that the PS5 Bom is around 450 dollars so there is no way that this console will be at 600 dollars. So yes is probably gonna be 500 dollars or a little less if Sony want to be really agressive

PS5 600 ? I doubt it, I assume it will end up being 500. Digital one even less, 450 or even 400 if Sony are smart.

This maybe the real price. 52 CU's ain't cheap. Xbox will knock the price down they cant justify that nonsense.Xbox are ready to take a loss on XSX the execs confirmed. So they will do their usual £500. Anymore is £100+ loss a box. Don't think any finance person wants to run that report. Sony ain't doing that either.Not after PS3.

The reason PS was/is waiting is to see if they can make profit on their pricing. They know XSX was going to cost more than the PS5.£400 is safe spot.They probably thought Xbox was going to bring the heat. But they failed. Now PS will wait it out & price the PS5 at whatever xbox put. Which is most likely £500 & make £50-£100 profit. (if the cost is £450 to make a PS5)

Whatever xbox price it as they incur heavy loss. Yeah they have accounted for £100 or more loss. But when a report comes out the other side breaks even, Makes £50 -£100 profit. Xbox division going have to some serious questioning & yeah its because of covid & MS closing stores & Mixer ,etc. The losses are going to hurt even more now

500= XSX/PS5 disk
400= PS5DE.
300=XSS.

On a side note. Its Xbox/media/xbox influencers spreading the 599 rumour. Ain't nothing to do with us PS guys. Just sayin.

Then why spend so much on R&D and manufacturing a console they don't need people to buy? It's really confusing, they don't care where you play but talk about the most powerful console at the same time.
