I don't think Microsoft really cares at the moment. I believe they are waiting on price and Lockhart to bring momentum back to them.
100% agree that price and Lockhart are their best bets for making major inroads.
Trying to get people who are invested in friends and library with PS4 over to Xbox via XSX is an idiot's dream.
Getting PS4->PS5 players also interested in Xbox via Series S, GamePass and some exclusives is far more realistic.
A distant chainlink fence being slightly sharper or more stable on a 400% DigitalFoundry zoom in doesn't quite say "abandon your PS4 library and friends" as some fanatics on Twitter seem to think.
A next-gen Xbox game with the impact Halo had in its day coming to a ~$260 Series S for a tiny GamePass price would absolutely get attention, and get people also investing in Xbox ecosystem, and set them up for next time around, too.
It's delusional to think Xbox can genuinely compete in sales versus PS5 with XSX alone. It's realistic and smart to think Xbox has a decent chance of being sat next to many more PS5 than XO sat next to PS4.
That would be a huge win for Xbox and for gamers in general.
