If I recall Phil's mic was still hot when he came off stage and he mentioned the reaction by the crowd to the price

What have we seen running on the Series X?
Sony only need Bugsnax for that.Good god, could you imagine if MS launches first, but with nothing of note, and then Sony follows a week or two later with Spider-Man, Ratchet and Clank, Deathloop, Godfall, and Bugsnax? It would be a massacre!
Very, very nice rundown. Doing the lord's work as usual![]()

Here is Why Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart is a True Next-gen Game
Let's jump straight to the 4K screenshots I've made from the video, put in mind that the video itself is heavily compressed, but I made PNG screenshots to preserve as much details as possible:
Raytraced reflections:
Looking into this screenshot, you can clearly see Ratchet's raytraced reflection on Clank. The red bulb on Clank's head is also reflective on his own body on other frames.

And here is another shot showing the fine reflections on Clank's body/head:

High-quality, raytraced shadows:
You can spot that every hair has its own high-quality shadow:
![]()
Even during gameplay, look at the tail fur:
![]()
High-quality particles:
Just look at the liquid splash and other particles that can be extremely crowded in some parts of the demo without noticeable penalty in performance.
![]()
Extremely fast and dynamic transitions:
Powered by state-of-the-art SSD customization and assisted by extensively detailed I/O.
![]()
Dynamic, high-quality damage deformation:
Some objects like the concrete blocks, you can see how different the damage model is and how they dynamically get broken eventually. Look at the side concrete blocks, you can see here even interactive particles of this lightning gun:
![]()
Look at the detailed damage and all the debris around:
![]()
And here they've been broken:
![]()
Infinite draw distance without aliasing:
Whether it's close or far all the way to the outer planets/moons, everything looks insanely sharp as if it's been pulled off directly from a Hollywood CGI movie. Geometry Engines help achieving that without a performance penalty, drawing what's needed to be drawn on screen per frame budget of polygons.
![]()
High polygon-count models:
Near-CGI level that made many observers skeptical at first, but it's pretty clear that it will only get better as this latest demo was a refined version of the first one. Due to Geometry Engines and in updated game engines that take advantage of them, no more LOD's that add more wasteful size to game size.
![]()
True 3D Audio:
The sound quality is insane in that gameplay demo, use a headset to enjoy it. Many particles create their own sound, like the bullet shells for example. With all the chaos it can be overwhelming, just like in real life, but would be wonderful to spot secret treasures using True 3D Audio. We would appreciated in calmer situations when every sound is noticeable.

Some of you guys really shit up this place with so much twitter links from NOBODIES
But don't you feel smarter when you are reading this? Some of you guys really shit up this place with so much twitter links from NOBODIES
Hmm that a lot of PS5 games have "performance" modes actually says a lot about the system. It isn't able to properly manage native 4K/60fps with amazing graphics, something has to give. Wonder if we'll see the same for XSX, although those first party developers might have to go for 60fps from the start.
Him, Colt, Klobrille. They all got together to show their frustration with Xbox it looks like.
Some are in denial though

You called, never miss a chance.
Sing along time.
@come onEviLore , tell us what you think. Wanna see you and the mods strut your stuff.
One thing I forgot to say from last night.
Kyle Bosman.
I must say I was utterly, utterly disappointed with him. Appearing on his webcam looking like a former drug addict returning from rehab, telling us how utterly amazing Gamescom is going to be. Yeah, that Gamescom full of devs who were praising their own balls and letting us know how amazing their games are going to be without giving us the chance to judge for ourselves.
Kyle Bosman, who looked and talked down to Oddworld's dev and telling him that Oddworld can eat his shit because it showed no gameplay and said dev only talked about how much its gameplay will be awesome, praised Gamescom for showing devs instead of their games who told us how amazing their games are going to be.
Really hypocritical of you, Kyle. Hypocritical, low, unfunny and unprofessional of you. I expected better. But I guess I just KNOW better now.
Last night's scars run deep.
Don't worry, next week i am sure we will get something, or the week after, or the week after that.
When will this madness end.
When the world might be mended.
There are no bonfires on Demon's Souls - HA! GOTCHA!i will kindle a fire for you.

Good that they included both options though.
I have pretty much every console now, I didn't make that clear.Wait.. Have you also got a PS3 console? That game won't work on your PS4, sorry to say.
GAF - Internet - GAF?
There is in the REMAKE
GOTCHA BACK
In UK they use the same expression "the penny has dropped".Here in Brazil we have this expression, 'a ficha caiu'(the token has fallen), meaning when someone finally realizes what's truly happening in some context. I cannot better express all these tweets from Xbox main advocates.
Yeah thats the big thing they wait for to shrink the console. The PS4 slim has a much smaller PSU and is so much smaller in volume all due to its low power chip.I forgot to mention, I'm still new to a lot of this stuff and I had no clue the slim consoles incorporated a more advanced node/shrink, I didn't know it worked like that lol I was always shocked at how the manufacturers could significantly reduce the size and heat output of the consoles, makes a lot of sense now.
I mean 4K@60FPS is really hard to pull of depending on the type of game your producing, the levels of fidelity, detail, visual effects and ray-tracing. All this depends on the power and capabilities of the hardware you're working with. As powerful as the next gen consoles are, I would be skeptical of both of them hitting 4K at 60 FPS whilst also retaining a lot of the details which I mentioned.
Now I am curious how the Sony first party studios hit 4K at 60 FPS, what was sacrificed? ray-tracing? maybe they used dynamic resolutions. Maybe they went through a different route and decided to use a checkerboard or DLSSS like rendering technique to hit the 4K at 60 FPS target and this would also make us speculate on the support for these kind of features on the next gen consoles.
For some reason in this part reflections are no longer RT. That's strange, considering they improved them in other places.

Remember those "Sony silence is alarming, MS marketing is awesome"
Now when the facts catch up it's:

MS were bushing all buttons at the same time while Sony just pushed up dpad and wait to see what happens then hit in the right moment.
In my opinion the reflections on the left are incorrect. Looks like they fixed it.
I should question what moment?
So which moment Xbox build? That is crazy to think some fans believed Xbox had build a moment.
I believe he is talking more about the abstraction layers that indeed MS needs to work way more than Sony because Sony API is more direct calls to hardware while MS API (DirectX) has a series of abstractions yo works in all platforms available including Xbox One to Xbox Series X hardware.Sony has done an enormous amount of work on the software and API side of things as part of their IO stack, as detailed in the patent when talking about File Archive API.
This persistent forum folk-wisdom of PS5 going "all hard-ware" for their IO while XSX taking a "more software" approach is absolute nonsense.
The entire point of an API like File Archive is that while it completely changes file access and metadata retrieval on an OS & kernel level, for the end user it is unchanged with how they used the old API for loading data.
On PS5 the user just provides a filename to an asynchronous function and is notified when the file is resident in memory. That's it. There's nothing for any developer to need to relearn, no matter how small a studio they are.
Your sources for these "whispers" sound clueless.

People forget that games on a 2080Ti have to drop down to as low as 1080p to achieve high framerates depending on the RT.I agree with you and @X-Fighter on this. I don't think either box will hit 4k 60fps with the same degree of RT and other 'ultra' type PC settings. At least not with the vast majority of games. However, the whole COD being at 120fps gives me some hope there. I think they will be able to get 4k60 with a really nice level of detail and graphic flash including some RT....but 4k 30fps will probably be the bar for all the REALLY fancy graphics. I'm also hopeful that things like DLSS can make it better as well. If I can't tell the difference with my eyes between "native 4k" and some variable resolution or DLSS technique, then I DON'T CARE! I just want the games to look and sound good along with, of course, having them perform well without slow downs or hitches. We're at the point right now, IMO where a lot of variable resolutions don't LOOK any different from native 4k. If I have to have a DF video that blows up the screen 300x or more to show me the difference, then again, I DON'T CARE.![]()
console wars > life itself
In UK they use the same expression "the penny has dropped".
In US they don't have similar... they just use something like "You finally got it".
