Marvel's Avengers |OT| - Dread it, run from it, destiny arrives all the same

So? Dark Knight Rises and Spiderman PS4 are superhero stories too but without Kamala "oh my gosh you're captain america can you believe it" Harris.
It has good moments of course, but it also has those moments.
They are also cheesy.

After finishing the story, i really liked it so far. The story is very nice and 'avengery'. Had a few tech issues though. 1 freeze, 1 time i fell through the map and fps cab tank into the 10ish frames in the last few battles when all avengers use the specials n stuff.

Ended up buying on PS4 due to the extras, but good lord it revs my Pro up in performance mode. Gonna have to open it up and replace the pads and paste, I guess.

Does anyone know if this will have cross-gen psn multiplayer? I'm keeping my Pro and plan to let my kids play on that while I use the PS5. I'd bet anything it works on XSX, but I don't know if anything has come out regarding PSN.

edit: also tried doing an Initiative mission last night and it just loaded for 6-7 minutes, looks like a bug

Sounds like a good turnaround from what was shown in the beta, always good to see a product reach expectations for fans. As someone who lacks interest, apart from Black Widow, in seeing most MCU movies I am unsure if I should pick this up as the main drawing of praise seems to be from the interaction/writing of characters although from what I have seen isn't exactly stellar writing which is sort of my problem with the MCU movies. How is the overall narrative and does it branch off into the multiplayer portion that includes the raids? The game looks really fun to play and as someone who had that same feeling with Anthem (and we all know how that turned out) I am not willing to take that chance again.

I know this isn't news but it really sucks Sony tied up exclusivity to Spider-Man, though I am sure his move set isn't all that different from other characters I have briefly seen in streams.

As it is with preorders and "exclusive console" stuff, i'd expect Spidey to be timed...i would hope, cause that would suck.

Oh you beat it already? And the multiplayer?
Just a drive by shit flick with no substance.

To answer your question yes, once you get to a specific point in the narrative it turns into a multiplayer campaign. As for the raids, I'm assuming yes but I haven't gotten to endgame yet.

I've read quite a few people say it is very glitchy with a lot of frame drops, worse than beta. I think they were playing on a base ps4.

I can't complain about the production values.
So far my experience is the game is sometimes amazing sometimes awful.
I can literally go "fuck that's so cool" and then in the same fight 5 seconds later I think to myself "fuck this unfair hitstun undodgeable laser shit fuck fuck fuck"

Campaign is only 10h with a lot of filler missions someone said and then you have to grind for different currencies to get stuff. Is that true? Sound a lot like Destiny 2.

Game has all the ingredients of next-gen on a PC. It gets my thumbs up approval! Superb destruction and the shaders are top of the charts!

I would definitely go PC to make the most out of this game but on the fence, how's the stability on PC as far as crashing and network connectivity to others if that's even available yet.

No crashing so far. I'm stuck at 30FPS locked @ 4k on ultra. The game is too demanding for 4k/60 @ ultra. Gotta wait for DLSS or the 3000-series boards for that.

I'm not going to believe that guy. I'm going to play the game how I want to play it and come to my own conclusion. It's a charmer right now though. Loving the SP mode.

Campaign is like 20hrs from what I've been hearing. And you gain resources for upgrades to existing gear, so far no one's complained about grinding.
That true? I didn't find anything about $10 worth of in-game currency on the Square page.
The PlayStation digital deluxe gives you 10 bucks worth of game credits for costumes and shit.

I feel like Jim Sterling kinda shit the bed with his reporting and now he can't turn around and say too many or overtly good things about the game. It runs like a dream on PC, would not touch this on a console though. I like how it has a story, and yeah it will probably have repetitive side missions, but the combat is fun., The graphics look great, and the audio design is superb

He comments on the story in his latest video and still finds a lot of other things to bash :lollipop_grinning:

This was a hilarious video, I really have to agree with him on everything here. But I'm not gonna rag too much on a game in it's OT, enjoy your Anthem 2.

Did you play Anthem? The only good thing in Anthem was the gameplay they screwed up everthing else. So far i'm liking Avengers way more than Anthem. Not sure that Avengers will be still there in a years time but it's the better game for me.

I got it on Steam, so far runs better then beta and I'm enjoying to story. Don't know how much I will play after I'm done with the story mode, the card pass things have nothing on them that peak my interest. So far enjoying it, up to the part where I gotta make iron man a new suit.

been having a blast playing. I love the detailed destruction and having other heroes along with you. I was playing hulk taking out a group of mobs and I see in the background kamala climbing up to a tall building to take it some annoying pest shooting and Ironman is hovering taking out other stragglers. Gave a very good team super heros feeling.

My play style definitely leans towards hulk and kamala. Ironman and black widow are too fragile for me but they are fun

Campaign is very fun, fills the void of no MCU content. Feels like I would be done with a destiny campaign and I still haven't unlocked 3 heroes. Prob worth the purchase just for that even if you pass on the GaaS stuff. Especially once it hits a sale.

Proof again that the game was designed with PC in mind. High res textures are critical to an overall look to a game along with lighting and shading. You do NOT go backwards with textures. You don't make 2k textures for the console and then decide later to make 4k textures for the PC. That's too much work. Better to make high res textures that can't run on consoles and downsample them to the console.

Good find GymWolf GymWolf

So according to Gothalion on Twitter the save file on PC is client side so expect save editors shortly.

Now I know why they hid it. The textures are too large and the bandwidth is taxed on a 2080Ti @4k/30FPS with these shaders! Hitting framedrops of 22FPS with close up faces or big action around in cinematics! The GPU can't keep up! I'm convinced that this is for 3000-series cards! Next-gen game #2 (y)

I was really harsh on this game, I tried the beta briefly and wasn't overly impressed. But, I have to admit, I caved. I purchased the game for PS4, I was looking for something new to play. I read a lot of good things about the campaign and I've actually really enjoyed what I've played so far. A lot of love an attention, passion went into this. Somewhere under all the marketing and cross promotions, there is actually a game here, a game with some soul. There are some bugs, which hopefully will get patched out. A solid purchase.

Looks like a positive take all around eh Warnen Warnen
I knew you'd come around.

yeah not sold on the gaas part of it but campaign is worth the price of entry for me. I'll play all the story stuff for sure.

with rumors that the Destiny expasion story is just 6 missions, this seems like a god send.

Funny you'd say that. I thought Anthem beta was miles better than this, so after playing I expected this to be obliterated into oblivion more so than anthem, but it didn't happen for some weird reason.

Is the level design as atrocious as I have heard. Really hate poor level design...

depends some of the more cinematic parts have some nice things going on. The bigger open areas are kinda dull. Just a big open space with small groups of things to find.

LIRIK beat the campaign earlier today, seemed alright. I don't really know if he cares to play anymore though, he said the combat was the best part in his opinion, that it had his moments. Favorite characters were Captain America, Hulk, and Black Widow.

Also, this is one of the first reviews I've seen for anyone curious... (GG ACG)

I'm pretty torn about this. Majority of people say the 8-12 hr (?) story is really good with enjoyable campaign.

But I despise the whole gaas thing and feel like I shouldn't support that kind of model by buying this. That said, this one at least have a proper single player mode. Also multiplayer and the whole loot grind doesn't interest me at all.

This is free upgrade to PS5, right? I'm thinking about buying this game now instead of waiting for the PS5 version.
If it helps I think the pre-order Black Widow skin is the best one in the game. Though I think there's no chance this game won't be on sale for thanksgiving if you prefer to wait.
