After the euphoria of the RTX 3070, I read an article in which the Ram is 448 gb/s fast. So not faster than the Ps5/XSX and also not more Ram. The only advantage of the RTX 3070 at the moment is computing power (we have to wait and see how much better the results are to the consoles, DLSS is at least the big advantage, but also only for limited games).
For 500€/$ this is not as good as I thought for the gpu alone, considering that on an Xbox an X with a Jaguar! Cpu and GCN! GPU games like Battlefield V can achieve 50-60 FPS at 3k-4k resolution.

Nah. PS5 preorders could go up at end of October and they'd still be sold out until the end of the year.

No UI.
No date.
No price.
No confirmed launch titles.
No BC details on PS4(predominantly from Sony).
No Series S reveal(assuming it hits at the same time, which I doubt by this point)

Remember that the console bandwidth figures are shared between GPU and CPU while on a PC that VRAM figure is for the GPU only. We also don't know how efficient the bandwidth is being used on the RTX 3070. This is a case where you can't just look at the figure and come to a conclusion without actual performance metrics. Now if you just want a console because you think it's more cost effective, I can't argue with you there.

I'm not. Just remarking how crazy it is to be this late in the game with so little to go on for both sides of the coin.
It doesn't feel like a normal console launch cycle. Covid has messed up so much that as each week comes and goes, I wonder if the silence sometimes isn't about price, but who announces a delay first, lol.

Anand Tech's article mentions 3070's memory speed to be 16 Gbps. Which means with a 256-bit bus the bandwidth would be 512 GB/s. Not a huge improvement over 448 GB/s. Just 14% higher.

Not even close.
This nowhere near as bad. Halo Infinite looking bad + weak launch lineup is not in the same galaxy of bad as DRM + Mandatory Kinect + 100$ more expensive + weaker hardware + TV TV TV.

2X the performance? I'm not really following the benchmarks closely. But going by what NXgamer said, 3070 is roughly equivalent to 2080ti in performance. Any benchmark to prove he's wrong?

3070=2080ti for 499$
3080 is around 80% faster than 2080 which means its 60% faster than 2080ti/3070
PS5 and XSX will be between 3060 and 3070.

We literally judge the hardware of consoles based on what's available on PC at the time of their launch.

The weakest next-gen console will be more powerful than the majority of PCs out there. So PC is going to hold back next-gen consoles whether you liked that reality or not.

A unified memory pool is more efficient in any case, because it works for the entire system, offering a single address space. This is not a downside it is an advantage.

No doubt. But MS's strongest argument still looms largest the closer that pre-orders are in comparison to when that full payment is coming out of bank accounts. End-user makes a pre-order in June they know they have months before the console launches, it kind of dulls the spend in a lot of ways.

From what I understand, PC fanatics are only looking forward to the Series X feature set because a lot of the innovations will come to PC as well, I'm talking more on the software side, things like Sampler Feedback Streaming, "Velocity" architecture, BCPack Compression and a bunch of API's.
As for Alex (Dicktator), I wouldn't say he's a Sony hater or something, but he does have fanboy like tendencies, especially on some of the comments he makes, like that "only 30FPS though". It makes it cringe to watch at times. Not what I expect from Digital Foundry. That being said I do enjoy some of his technical breakdowns, like the Horizon Forbidden West trailer.

if they hit the ps5's 2.23 ghz, thats 22.8 tflops and should be on par with the rtx 3080's performance sans ray tracing and dlss.
even if they top out between 2.0-2.15 ghz, thats still very close to the rtx 3080's shader performance. the real problem they will face is with ray tracing and dlss.
they better have dedicated ray tracing cores and dedicated ML cores hidden in there somewhere. whatever is in the PS5 and xsx TMUs simply wont be enough to compete against nvidia gpus.
i have no idea how they plan to launch this at $499 with a gpu that large. thats easily a $700 gpu. 2x the number of CUs as a 5700xt, its bound to be way more than just a $100 more expensive.

The ray tracing is the big question I agree,
For upscaling, there are 14 DLSS supported games.....my guess is Mainstream will use modern temporal techniques which will be coming with UE5 and the rest. It would be interesting if there is any silicon that helps temporal.,,,,,as lets face it Nanitite upscaling is more than sufficient.

I find your lack of understanding very funny.
One of the applications of hardware assisted machine learning is that the new xbox will automatically add ML HDR to the entire catalog of backward compatible games. Spanning from all xbox one games that dont have HDR all the way back to 360 and og xbox games.
So imagine playing Red dead redemption 1, Ninja Gaiden 1/2/3,
EVERY Call of duty / Dark souls / Assasins creed / Final fantasy / Gears of war / Halo / Resident evil / Sonic / Tom clancy / Tomb raider game ever released with HDR, down even to Midnight Run, Daytona, Crazy taxi, ms Pac-man and freakin' Arkanoid.
ML HDR along with increased performance and I.Q.
Now, laugh again about that, as I want to see something
