PlayStation fans could at long last be getting the PS5 news they've been waiting months for today, with Sony rumoured to be readying a big announcement. According to the rumour mill the PlayStation 5 makers could be dropping some big PS5 news on Thursday September 10 ahead of a PS5 event taking place next Monday.

The plastic of the XSX looks pretty cheap.
The S looks better despite that big black circle vent

Tom Warren is crapping on the XSX size and says that it looks awkward and it won't fit inside most tv stands and took it to his for a try in his live stream. Not sure but seems like he's not interested in xbox anymore, and said that he abandoned xbox for PC.

Series S looks good compared with Series X.
It is less thin than I expected too.

Said that is it really the smaller Xbox ever made? Because it doesn't look like it... seems like the 360 Slim or Xbox One S are smallers.

BTW where is the dam hardware to run games, MS?
Xbox One S is 29.5 x 23 x 6.4 cm
Series S is about 28 x 15 x 6.4 cm

Source?

Based on the media and fans trying to shift the console war to make MS look good Sony could've just released a 1 tf console for 99 dollars and been hailed as the best choice for gamers. I don't know where the myth started that the GPU is only useful for higher resolutions but you will see a major quality difference in XSeriesS games than just resolution. Even worse is if it outsells the Series X and games are made with that crappy tech of a console as the standard.

Makes sense. The X is an odd shape. Laying it flat doesn't make it any smaller or easier to fit into a shelf.

I'll give you a guess. The same bullshit source on Twitter that, for some unknown reason, all the other outlets are quoting. They're quoting him despite a pretty much zero accuracy rate and a constant need to both move his goalposts and add a disclaimer that things can be changed(TBC).

He's just kinda missing the following Monday, but otherwise isn't wrong.. just a pointless statement lol

LOL, yeah. You're both right really, and it is pointless. I'd like to pretend I don't care after all this waiting, but my constant checking the net for any reasonably credible news says otherwise. I obviously care a bit too much, even if that is also pretty pointless for the most part.

Talking about PS5 and XSS/XSX CPUs. The difference between them is absolutely irrelevant. The performance of those 3 CPUs should be pretty much the same, and since framerates are more tightly related to CPU performance than GPU, there's no reason why a game would be 60fps on XSX and lower on PS5 or XSS. If you consider that the PS5 GPU is weaker than XSX (which it is, by how much is up to debate) games could have a difference in resolution, but not on framerate.

Which it is? I wouldn't bet my house on that...It's clocked slightly lower, but it is apparent that Sony has done more customization to offload CPU heavy tasks. Microsoft's software approach to I/O will eat more resources. I'd wager the CPU on the PS5 will preform better than the XSX.

Let me guess it's from Robber Shithead.

Nah even if it does the difference will be minimal (CPU). GPU though it's pretty basic stuff, they're both the same tech, so I don't think the changes sony does will make that much of a difference, we'll see though.

Or perhaps it's xbox that is dropping some news, and it's a strategy of MS and company to spread rumors about Sony dropping news so that more people are on ears on that moment.

"The CPU time saved by these decompression units sounds astounding: the equivalent of about 9 Zen 2 CPU cores". Tech might be similar, but not the way it's being used. We have seen the UE5 demo, when we see more from Sony's first party studios it will be evident.

I'm definitely getting the disk based PS5 at launch (or when I can, depending on how pre-orders go.) I'll buy all digital but I still occasionally watch Blu-Rays.

I was gonna wait on Xbox but might get my wife the XSS. She's half blind anyways probably can't tell the difference between 4TF and 12.

Now, what about the price of X1. It can go even lower than 200 usd. Imagine that price for a current gen console that runs most of first party early releases for XSX. Even better, with retrocompatibilty with X360. That sounds like an actual deal.

There's not a doubt in my mind that the only thing Sony is changing up for their announcement next week is that preorders go live on Sept. 21.

The black circle of the series S is so weird, I don't know how else to describe it, like ... It's out of place with the rest of the console's design . But I still prefer it over the X's cheap black plastic though.
