OP thinking that Sony has the money to pull a move like this 🤭
if Sony didnt waste billions on securing bullshit timed exclusives like strikes and exotic weapons in destiny, 1 month map packs in Cod for an entire gen, cod remasters, and FF timed exclusives, they might have been able to afford something at the end of the gen.

Sure.

My favorite animal is the cat. Always loved these free and independent creatures.
I had long hair for around 20 years but eventually decided to make them short. It was quite a great change, but surprisingly it was easier for my kids than for my colleagues.
Having tried bike mountain downhill once, I can tell you it is definitely a scary experience. Still was great fun, but I feel safer playing Lonely Mountain Downhill now.
It has been a good ride then, happy for you peace and love 😊
P. S. I was just now driving my car listening to 'The Story' that is pretty much about that: our lives rides in this world, and feeling nostalgic... coincidences lol ❤️💪

They have to keep releasing good games. Probably resurrect some of their old ops like slyphon filter and twisted Metal. And double down on their pc ports strategy to set foot on the pc market.

I wouldn't be opposed to them buying BluePoint Games and have them remake Syphon Filter for a new generation.

I dont think Sony has to do anything. Just keep cranking out solid exclusives and making smart deals. (Aka: business as usual).

The craziest part of this Bethesda deal was Microsoft paid CASH. CASH. Its literally the one area Sony can't compete with Microsoft.

That is not literally what you said. What you literally said was they do not have the money to do so and they do. What Sony sees as a sensible acquisition is not up to you to determine. This is a company that has 8 billion earmarked for capital expenditure each year and has one of the largest r&d budget in the world.
I said this:

"to be spent on a game publisher"

They don't have that kind of money to be spent on purchasing a game publisher.

Sony's done a good job of growing and fostering their own internal studios which is something Microsoft hasn't traditionally done well. Acquiring is only the first step.

I think Sony should aquire FromSoftware and Bluepoint. Cornerning more of the Japanese market off from Microsoft might be a good play.

They should also try to capitalize on a subscription service that includes Playstation plus and combines it with offerings from Sony Pictures like free movies every month.

Possibly even make a deal with spotify to add a music subscription to your ps+ and add a unique interface app to ps5 that takes advantage of 3d audio. They could even promote 3d audio enhanced music and movies as part of the service.

Say something like 15$ a month gets you free games, movies, shows and a spotify account with enhanced 3D audio. I think a lot of people would sign up for that over just a traditional ps+ subscription.

Buying Square or FromSoftware won't be as the because Sony already has that audience locked in. Final Fantasy and Souls fans already I to PlayStation. Sony's best play is to get developers that could potentially being Xbox players over. To be honest Zenimax would have been the best acquisition for Sony to bolster their FPS and WRPG exclusives to gain Xbox audience. Now that Zenimax is gone I can't really think of big developers Sony can buy to gain Xbox players.

I guess Bungie would be big for Sony to gain a competent FPS developer. And there is literally no WRPG studio to purchase as Microsoft bought them all. The only one is CD Project Red which I doubt they will ever sell and would cost a fortune.

I highly doubt they're going to announce they've bought a studio in response to what Microsoft has done. If anything was/is announced, it's something that was surely already in the works.

That being said, I honestly don't think Sony needs to do anything. Microsoft has fuck it money, but Sony has exclusives that they don't. But it's creating good competition.
They don't have western rpg devs though. And one of their main devs has gone woke unfortunately. I have over 270 ps4 games with only a few finished on a launch ps4. The thought of not having tes6 ect on ps5 sucks. I don't like Ms shady tactics and am bummed. Either way it fucks my finances. I doubt tes 6 will run on a 3.7gjx dual core i3 and 1660 gtx super, so that means buying a xbx s just to play the games from bethesda as I don't care about halo and gears. Or I can spend 500+ on a new mobo/cpu/ram when it's not really needed yet. Either way it sucks. I was going to skirt through with just ps5, switch and current pc and not update my rig for another 5 years.

I definitely understand that position. I wouldn't get too concerned about it just yet, because a number of things could happen. Plus you may still be more than A-OK because a number of potential scenarios. I'm of the minority that just wants everyone to be able to play what they want and how they want so they can be happy.

Sony doesn't have the resources to buy any of the larger studios. That's just fantasy land SonyGAF nonsense fueled by panic jealousy.

Deep breathes. Sony will be fine. They run a tight ship out of necessity. Over-extending themselves in a panic move would be potentially fatal. And it's unnecessary. They're going to have some awesome game production from their current assets.

It's very likely that Bethesda games stay on PS5 anyway, so they don't need to do anything. It is no different to them if Microsoft or another third-party published games on PS5.

Because the clear leaders coming out of this gen need to desperately scramble to compete with MS buying Bethesda..

I think they'll be fine.

Sony could buy SEGA/Atlus to attract more kids and jrpg gamers. If they merged their Japanese studios with Sega's existing teams the end result would be more talented. Obviously you are buying for the IPs.

They just need to resurrect some of their old IP's. The answer is already within.

Uncharted
The Order: 1886
Warhawk
Twisted Metal
Until Dawn
Wipeout
Bloody Roar
Spyro
Knack
Cool Boarders
Syphon Filter
SOCOM
Jak and Daxter
Bloodborne
Dark Cloud
MotorStorm
Ico
The Getaway
Sly Cooper
InFAMOUS
Mark of Kri
Dark Chronicle
Killzone
Siren
Genji
Motorstorm
Driveclub

Bring some of these gems back to life, you cowards.

But if they were to buy another studio, it should be Capcom or Konami.

Stay on course and keep purchasing smaller studios like Bluepoint, Housemarque, or even KojiPro. If MS ends up making TES, Fallout, and Starfield Xbox/PC exclusive then Sony should probably pounce on Square Enix, Capcom, etc.

Hopefully they don't make any retaliation. Their first party output is doing them wonders. It's reliable. When you purchase a Sony exclusive, you're getting the Sony experience, and that should be enough to take on Microsoft with Zenimax. If Sony bought a different big publisher, it might not work to in regards to the experience they offer with their exclusives.

Plus, they need to focus on bringing Resistance back from the dead on PS5...

Free Spider-Man patch would be a good start. As soon as they start trying to squeeze juice out of a lemon, it's a slippery slope.

This post makes a lot of sense and would be a very good idea for the company to implement.

Which is exactly why Sony will never do this.

Resistance 3 by Bungie. Make it happen.

They won't/can't Sonys pockets are not deep enough..and too much of a gamble drop Billions if shit goes sour..where for MS its just pocket change $$

Sell themselves to apple or a company that will actually give a shit instead of just sitting complicity and watching the competition poach developers left and right.

This new leadership at SIE must go. Fucking losers don't do anything but vacation

Hopefully not by buying established studios that PS would have gotten the games for either way. Buy smaller studios and grow them, or start more studios from scratch

Bluepoint would be a smart buy or konamis ips if they could get them.
I don't see the point of Bluepoint (no pun intended) they have no ips. They've never even made their own game. They're a remake studio. This is not how you answer a Bethesda acquisition. That's like your rival marrying Scarlet Johanson and you respond by marrying Melissa McCarthey.

I never realised having followed Sony mainly for the exclusives, then the design (which is crap this gen), then the capabilities (which are sub-par to everything this gen), that Sony actually never bothered developing that strong of a franchise management.

They had Crash, Ape Escape, Syphon Filter, Music2000, Medievil, CoolBoarders, Jet Moto, Wipeout, Jak&Daxter, MLB, Twisted Metal, Wipeout, Drive Club, ParrapaTheRapper, Everybody's Golf, InFamous, Killzone, Motostorm, Resistance, Sly Cooper, Socom etc... How many franchise have they sold or abandoned instead of developing their backlog?

While Microsoft has a very bad history of cancelling games, Sony released them only to abandon them including the best...

They had Quantic Dream (Beyond Two Souls, Farenheit, Detroit etc...), Manchester Studio (responsible for PSVR titles), Studio Liverpool (ex-Psygnosis, Wipeout, F1 etc...), Zipper (SOCOM), Evolution Studios (WRC, Motorstorm, DriveClub) etc...that they all either sold or closed during the PS4 era...
