its like fucking magic, i will figure it out one day.

Devil children the lot of you.

Bah, this place would be much more boring if we started behaving. I mean.. that or .. maddening. What with all the technical mumbo jumbo fake news general hysteria going on day to day. Hell, I ain't got time for that with all of my own internal PS5 shipping concern trolling I do to myself. F U Target!

its real nice in the hands.

thumbsticks feel farther apart now and not so cramped. dpad feels okay ish? still sort of mushy.

face buttons are fine and the sticks feel super smooth but not loose.

best thing i think is the weight of this thing. it just feels......solid
It really does feel nice.

Mine is charging up ready to go for the 12th... although that'll be just Astros Playground and then leaving it on overnight to download actual games while Sony's servers are getting hammered to shit lol
I'm really tired of everyone talking about how much of a great time they're gonna have with their PS5. I'm here with no hopes of PS5, and you people will be there with PS5. I'm bothered.

I fear when this thread closes, back to boring, sigh.

Imagine the xbox people, be like fucking new years eve all over again, Riky bringing in a lorry load of fireworks.

This thread has become a welcome bastion of everything under the sun. I pray it never goes away. It keeps the toxic nonsense, to enough of a degree, from the other threads. This, all while allowing for the fun nonsense.

Right its time to feed the fish and find where one of my shrimps has gone to, he molted, and have not seen him in 5 days, worried for the little fellah.

for the rest your you beautiful people, have a great night.

I am with you, mate, I am still deluding myself that I will just go into the store and get my box and go home... it's not going to happen.

This response is not for you but for anyone who might be concerned by your FUD.

Cerny said :"There's enough power that both CPU and GPU can potentially run at their limits of 3.5GHz and 2.23GHz, it isn't the case that the developer has to choose to run one of them slower."

from this article: https://www.eurogamer.net/articles/digitalfoundry-2020-playstation-5-the-mark-cerny-tech-deep-dive
"Can potentially"

Yeah definitely sounds like it will run at max clocks at all times

lol. You literally just proved my point. If it "can potentially" run at their max limits then that means it's not going to be spending most of its time there.

This, maybe.

So again, he confirms that it will not be running at max clocks constantly. Thanks for the link.

"Lorry load of fireworks" sounds more like the anual "V for Vendetta" day, which is Thursday by the way :messenger_winking:
Maybe something new about next gen for that day too?

No, they can't. The listed clock speeds were the maximum the cpu and gpu can reach. The gpu cannot reach that clock speed unless it is taking power away from the cpu, at which time the cpu isn't at its max clock speed.

Yeah he confirms you're wrong.

What would be the point of having variable clocks if you want to keep it at max clocks constantly? Lol.

Yeah he confirms you're wrong.
You might want to read them again lol.

If they can both only "potentially" run at max clock speed together, they sure as shit aren't running together at max clock speed for very long.

So a game can use the absolute maximum power available..........and then clock down when it's not. "potentially" run both at max doesn't sound like it's going to be common or can be sustained.

the boost clock system should still see both components running near to or at peak frequency most of the time.

The gpu cannot reach that clock speed unless it is taking power away from the cpu, at which time the cpu isn't at its max clock speed.
You are wrong, that's all.

What will be the biggest game for xbox i wonder, assassins creed or dirt? I looked at watchdogs and it looks a bit , boring but that's just me.

Xbox fans what will you be playing first on your nice new box.

No wars please, just normal game chat.

Mostly Warzone..

Some Dirt 5 and some Zombies

Most gamers will pick up CoD and FIFA I would imagine...

We'll see, also with the RDNA2 features I would think within 12 months Series S could be pushing PS5 pretty hard, I wouldn't worry about Series X If I were you it'll be out of sight by then.

This post will go down in NeoGAF history as one of the most ridiculous takes ever.

Congratulations! :messenger_tears_of_joy: (y)

That might happen on PS5 but I can't see PC developers optimizing based on power consumption with what new GPUs are eating.
No, same goes for pc cards too, amd is doing it, their rdna2 has 50% increase in performance per watt compared to rdna1, consumes less power but increase in performance. There are also game developers who use power optimization for their game. Power optimization is applied for both software and hardware.

So starting November 12 2020 all the way to December 2021 (if everything goes according to plan) we'll be getting Spider-Man Miles Morales, Demon's Souls, Sackboy, Destruction All Stars, Ratchet & Clank, Gran Turismo 7, Returnal, Horizon 2 and freaking God of War 2!? I'm sure we'll get at least one delay but this has to be one hell of a first year, if they can continue like this the entire life cycle it's going to be one hell of a gen, maybe even one of the best gens ever.

I guess not really gonna happen. Most studios need 3-5 years to make a decent game. Given that we are in the beginning of a new gen, it would possibly take more time for the studios to polish their engines and tools, even reconstruct from start. So after cross-gen era, I suppose we won't hear anything new in about 2-3 years.

So was just watching it on my big tv, it looks beautiful but i hate pop in. TIs small but its there.

Around 1:28 bottom right along the passage, grass, bushes popping in?

This is direct x12 i believe, will be interesting to see if its the same/better worse on ps5.

Trust me I noticed it as well and my first thought was if it would be on PS5 as well. Really think thats where the I/O is going to deliver because PC has nothing like it at the moment. They're using 4K textures, but swapping those in and out of ram would take much longer on PC.

the only thing that concerns me is this demo, or card that was using it was using the infinity cache as well, if the next consoles don't have that, that's really going to suck

I'm wondering if it says using D12U, are they actually utilizing DirectStorage and SFS?

EDIT: Nevermind, DirectStorage won't be coming to PC before 2021

"near or at" is very different to both running at full speed all the time.

a game running at a variable 57-60fps and only being 60fps 5% of the time is "near or at" 60fps. Not what you'd call running at 60fps all the time though.
