I'd choose microsoft... the xbox is basically a customized PC at this point. Sony and Nintendo have unique exclusive games.

Sony - you may love their first part offerings but if unchecked they would just ruin gaming.

Basically everything positive out of Xbox has been in response to getting beat down. You think unchecked Sony would be bad lol. Unchecked Microsoft would be a nightmare

Arch-PlayStation fans are among the more insufferable wankers out there it's true, but it must be said that Sony's victory with PSone was 100% earned. They had the right hardware at the right price, bent over backwards to offer good deals for publishers, secured killer exclusives, and absolutely went out of their way to reach players globally by establishing unprecedented localisation processes, often out of their own pocket. PSone did everything right.

PS1 is the only console of theirs that gets pretty much my full respect.

DVDstation 2 was overrated, PS3 was an inferior 360 til the end, PS4 is okay but too much of a Triple A box, and I'm not crazy about their exclusives cept for TLOU2.
Sony and Xbox have the same hardware and target the same demographic and yet 20% of you think Nintendo is the one to eliminate from the industry?

Ignant fanboys.

Nintendo has to stay, they are the only console that at least attempts to deliver kid friendly games from first party studios.

I would have to eliminate the Xbox division of Microsoft, I think they could still be relatively successful focused only on the PC side of gaming.

Easily Nintendo.
They should have gone the Sega route years ago and just focus on games. Mario, Zelda, Smash, etc on PS4/PC would be a win for EVERYONE.
Their consoles have not been in the same league as the others since the Gamecube.
If you aren't pushing technology forward you need to stick to what they do best.
For Nintendo that has always been the games, not the hardware.

This topic is insane. If you think Sony has been a bit arrogant in a few of their decisions lately, imagine what would happen if MS got out of the business.

I voted Microsoft, but on second thought, I think Sony might be the better choice. They lost their identity over the last generation or two and are just another Microsoft without Windows. At this point, I think I would prefer for Microsoft to consolidate all of the western development scene to their platform so we could get PC versions as well.

Sony is just like what Microsoft would be if they didn't have Windows and had lots of exclusive games.

Yeah because the opposite would be gaming heaven, right?

Microsoft points so you could never buy anything for its actual value and had to overspend and be left over with points, this is now common with any game that has in game currency. Thanks Microsoft.
Premium themes and Avatars? Thanks Microsoft.
Horse armor? Thanks Microsoft.
Popularization of microtransactions? Thanks Microsoft.

This was a pretty baity thread :P to be honest, it was hard to say, i thought about all three.. almost went with Nintendo.. but when you think about the value of the brands, the quantity of original content they deliver.. yeah, we could do without Microsoft. I'm not trying to war, but you can't hold Halo up against all of Nintendo's franchises, or PlayStation's. I guess that's not a very original position from me~

If you removed Sony, do you honestly think Microsoft would be so magnanimous with their offerings?

Removing any one of Microsoft or Sony, gives the other an effective monopoly over the console market, with Nintendo existing in their own little bubble.
Monopolies are good for nobody.

SONY- yes they have very talented devs that produce visually stunning games but 9/10 times for me their games are boring... gorgeous but boring. I prefer Xbox's service box (X) and even though msot xbox games arent the Sony tier games i just find them to be more fun.

Nintendo, because I am not 8 years old anymore. They seem to not care. I have zero interest in any of their games. And they are always three generations behind on technology. How they succeed blows my mind.

Those of you picking MS or Sony, I'd hate to live in a world where these two don't have to check each other and you would too so stop with that shit, you have no idea what you are talking about!!

We have seen what both would do when left to their own devices!! Think!!!!

Sony and MS have gone the PC lite route. Only Nintendo is keeping it unique.

Yes because they are under new leadership with a new vision, we are talking about right now not 8 years ago

None of these corporations are you friend. Now, onto your points.

Everquest had a subscription model in 1999, and yet Sony did the same once they realized there was money to be made.

Valid point, and do you really think nobody would have ever thought to do it if MS didn't? Would it have been better if Nintendo first discovered the model? Do you think Sony wouldn't have if they thought they could get away with it in the early days of the PS360 gen?

And yet Sony did the same once they realized there was money to be made.

So MS is to be held accountable for a decision made 14 years before they bought the company?

And yet Sony did the same once they realized there was money to be made.

I want these companies at each other's throats, only then do they actually give a damn enough to fight for our wallets.

No, but one is truly giving me the continuation of what gaming used to be in the early '90, when i grew up, and they've being doing that since i can remember. The other made me love their games for a couple of years, and then it's like they made all they could to keep me away from their systems.

Me too, this is indisputable truth. But it would take less than two seconds for me to decide, having to chose.

Yeah, Nintendo is still putting out 2D platformers just like in the 90's.

Nintendo.

Sony and MS keep each other in check.

Nintendo's got awful online, gimped systems, most awesome third party games don't even bother coming to Nintendo systems (or are gimped or delayed), and their first party games aren't exactly cutting edge system hogs. So they can run fine on any MS, Sony or PC.

I don't follow tablets. Maybe high powered tablets can even run Nintendo first party games well.

I'd probably get rid of Nintendo as long as that meant they'd continue to make their games on other platforms.

Microsoft keeps Sony honest - I can't believe we'd be having the incredible first year for PS5 promised, following a generation of total dominance, if it weren't for the ever present threat of Microsoft's financial power.

Nintendo, the most anticonsumer, bad hardware, expensive games etc...

Sony and ms balance each other, nintendo is in its own league

It'd be way more interesting to tear them all down and start fresh with three new competitors with different things to offer.

And you can't really think you'd see games like God of War, Ghost of Tsushima, Spider-Man etc. without Sony.
I never said that those specific games would come to the Xbox. Why did YOU single those games out?

Oh ya forgot about that part too. Price of games.

MS, Sony and PC games start out at the standard high price then get discounted, then maybe go on sub plans.

Nintendo. Full priced first party games for 5 years, except for that 1 or 2 weeks per year deal from $60 to $40. Miss the deal and you got to wait for 6 months.

Because you said ''if Sony were gone then all the big AAA games would come to the Xbox''?
What AAA games were you referring to? And if not made by Sony, what's the connection with Sony being gone?

Games from Square Enix, EA, Ubisoft, etc...

Microsoft could just focus on Windows and PCs. Nintendo and Sony can cover the console market 100%.
I just read today that Sony wanted games to be more than $70 but settled for $70. Nintendo overprices everything they can get away with, especially remasters and they don't drop those prices.

So, no thanks.
