Sony is removing Cyberpunk from PlayStation Store

they didn't even do it for AC Unity, also the ps4 pro and ps5 version is really not that bad, just the ps4 one is near unplayable,

You are entitled to your option. But physical media is an option for people who want to have more freedom with their games.
Thanks for telling me that I'm allowed to have an opinion lol.

I personally think digital gives more freedom tbh. I have all of my games downloaded on 2 4TB HDDs. I can take those HDDs anywhere in the world with an internet connection, plug them in to an xbox, and play them. Alternatively I can just log in on any xbox in the world and download them and play them, don't even need to take my HDDs. With physical discs, you lose it or break it or don't have it, you can't play it. The only "freedom" is being able to re-sell it.

We can't be sure they did, or that they did without being threatened with loss of sales.

From QA staff I've spoke with decades ago it was common place for publishers to play one side off against the other - with semi unready games - and the platform holder being left with the choice of all the sales going to the other platform, or certifying under duress and banking on the publisher getting patches to fix the game to a good state within two weeks of release.

Looking at the marketing deal Xbox had with the game, and that XsX version is native and not B/C, Sony were never in a position to negotiate a PS4 version day and date that was in a certifiable state. But as I said previously, the Epic vs Apple lawsuit has probably lead to playstation and xbox changing their certification policy, with the final signoff being the game's publisher - so they aren't seen to be overly controlling access to the console market in the way Apple is with IOS.

Sony has 3rd party quality assurance certification that a game has to go through versions checks before it's allowed to be sold on the platform.

It's seriously sometimes hard not to laugh at those freedom™ post all over neoGAF for various topics. Maybe in this case...try point a gun at PS5.

Seriously. Twitter and Facebook, I can get. Actual discussion about shit that actually impacts the world happens there.

This is about a defective luxury product for fuck's sake. People like elektrokats need to grow a goddamn sense of perspective.

I used to publish games. This could be what's changed since then. Good point.

Well, Ubisoft didn't apologize and tried to shaft Sony by having everyone go to PSN for a refund and making them look bad. Not exactly the best news when your new console has just arrived.

Truth, tbh. I'll be honest, I adore this game (BC, PS5), but I am 100% willing to agree that the last gen versions should not have released at all. They just aren't good on the old hardware. I'm convinced they're only decent on the mid-gen refresh and new system with BC just through sheer hardware force.

As someone playing this on PS5.... bitch move by Sony.

If they refund my purchase and remove my license I'll be pissed. Better be request only because I have no intentions of not continuing to play daily.

I think it's good that Sony is doing that. Question is, didn't someone from Sony (ie QA people) try the game at all to see if it was OK before allowing it on the store? Did they just assume/take CDPR's word for it because they're a big studio?

It's by request only. They're not taking anything away from anyone.

I bought Godfall off of PSN but I can't get a refund on that and that game is big pile of shit....I have twice the amount of time in Cyberpunk PS than Godfall and have had less issues than in Godfall. Where is my refund for Godfall Sony?

Anyone with eyes could see this game was shit before it launched.

They didn't hide anything in that case, you just have poor judgement.

If the idiots at CDPR delayed the game 2-3 more months until it was playable none of this would've happened but they wanted a quick cash grab, now their image is tarnished forever

i can't believe that's the same studio that made Witcher 3, scamming con artists sons of bitches

They should have kept quiet upon the first delay. Release it in 2021, drop last gen versions and make it for next-gen when ready.

Yeah this is good on Sony. Amazing they launched the game in this state

What move are you expecting?
I think the only way forward is the company gets bought out by a platform holder or mega-publisher, as this situation sounds like the company could fold if Microsoft takes the same stance - unless they have massively deep pockets.

Dude, my sense of perspective is that the game was okay and aside from a few bugs, Cyberpunk 2077 was exactly what I was expecting. An FPS RPG in a Cyberpunk setting with crazy graphics and a lot of talking.

I was not expecting GTA V level AI and physics (like wtf?) and I was not expecting it to be the most amazing game that I would pour weeks and weeks into. Like, it's a fucking video game. Sometimes they are just not what you expect. Move on with your life.

I think I'm the only one here with any real perspective as I'm not the one obsessing over this media and acting like it's a human right to play a non-buggy game.

Also sense of freedom of some people is heavily inflated, exactly missing the perspective how things works. In this context you have exactly zero freedom to demand anything on closed storefronts. Or to bitch to platform holders in this case. There is no 1...69th amendment on PSN, XBL, Steam, etc nor does it apply.

Just you wait till they start pulling games that don't have enough BLM/Trans representation to their liking. Or from companies with controversial employee Twitter accounts. We are living in a dystopia, my friend
Then the majority of the world got what it wanted no?

No, you're merely acting like it's a human right to buy this game in particular from a particular seller, even though the same exact product is available from hundreds of other sellers.

And you call gamers entitled. Sheesh.

It's still Sony and MS call whether to list or not. They test the games before release (or are supposed to). And according to certifications, it's not even supposed to be about how good or boring a game is, but simply if the game works, is crash free (or hardly any crashes), doesn't wipe your HDD and things like that.

It's not supposed to be a subjective judgement call on how great the story or gameplay is, but a judgement call on technical stability and bottom line if the game actually works.

Sony and MS turned a blind eye for sales and hoping it wouldn't be a clusterfuck. Which it is.

That's like a new music album coming out and the artist has 12 songs on it. Songs #5, 8 and 10 are buggy as shit. Everyone in manufacturing knows it and even everyone at Walmart or Apple head office knows it. The disc or download data could be totally borked.

Yet, for the almighty sales buck, Walmart and Apple say sell it and we'll roll the dice on refunds.

Sell it first. Ask for forgiveness later. And hope 95% of people who bought it don't give a shit or can't be bothered and just live with it.

Anthem wasn't a broken or misleading product it was just a shit game

what about fallout 76? my point remains which is why you responded only with anthem lol so why argue?

and cyberpunk didn't mislead anything regarding the game itself, nor is that why it is being taken down even if that was the case.

And as someone who owned and played both Anthem and Fallout 76 when they launched ... Anyone who says those games launched in better shape than Cyberpunk is completely full of shit. Like don't believe a goddamn word they say. I see those bullshit lies creeping in the echo chambers... ha!

Wait isn't it that you only get a refund if you ask for it? They're "offering" but surely it won't get removed unless you agree to it.
Otherwise I guess you could just not connect your PS5 to the internet for a while :p

So Sony is removing something now that according to their saying should never been on the store in the first place? Who aprooved this, huh?

All Microsoft has to do now is lay low and reap the benefits later with closed relation with CDPR later.

It's not worse than on PC so i think you would be alright if you don't mind bethesda levels of buggines.

If it doesn't hard freeze my PS5 or have any progression stopping bugs, I won't mind. I suffered through Skyrim at launch on PS3, that shit was bad but I still loved it.

F**king owned. Platform forced delay. Shouldn't have happened in the first place.

They should have just made it a PC exclusive. It was their vision from the beginning. Porting to consoles has caused all of this backlash. Maybe they have enough money in their coffers to make the next one PC-only.
