Welcome Bethesda/Zenimax Studios to Xbox/Microsoft!

Great. I'm curious to see how they will give Xbox owners a premium experience while at the same time continuing to offer content on PlayStation. Which they will.

Great purchase in my opinion, their games suit the Xbox brand.
As a PS fan, I just hope Sony gives me a megaton such as a 🪨 and a ⭐. lol

Seems unlikely given TTWO market cap of ~$20bn, granted that includes 2K but the vast majority of that valuation will be based on Rockstar earnings.

well done MS.

now confirm no more of those games on Playstation consoles. You want to play Elder Scrolls, Doom, Starfield, etc? you'll need to buy an Xbox or build a PC.

no way are they spending that much lettuce to just "own" the games. People were telling Microsoft they needed games so now they bought them and will keep them for their own platforms.

Who's next? Kojima - FromSoftware - Capcom - KOEI - Techland?
Hope they go for From Software. Capcom would be huge. the rest aren't really worth it.

So now we are all excited about exclusivity.

If yes:
Green warriors: There you go bitches!!!!!
Blue warriors: Didn't want to play their shitty games anyways!
Normal XB players: k...
Normal PS players: Too bad.

If no:
Green warriors: Oh noes ...........
Blue warriors: Haha, Xbox still has no exclusives!
Normal XB players: k...
Normal PS players: Great!

Sony wishes they could afford Rockstar.

GTA V has sold 140,000,000 copies so far making it the 2nd most successful game of all time. The game made Take Two $1,000,000,000 in just 72 hours. In about 4 and a half years it made $6,000,000,000. Imagine what it has made so far 3 years later.... to put it into perspective it's very likely that it's made more than MS paid to acquire Zenimax. They paid $7,500,000,000 to acquire the rights to all these games: Elder Scrolls, Fallout, Starfield, Elder Scrolls Online, Wolfenstein, Dishonored, Prey, Doom, Quake, Rage, etc.

and now then remember Take Two are about to sell GTA V again for PS5/XSX.... that's more money for them to count. That's just GTA V. The GTA series as a whole will be easily worth tens of billions. The Red Dead series will also not come cheap.

Sony as a whole has $128 billion market cap. Microsoft has a market cap of $1.74 trillion. If Sony were stupid enough to buy Rockstar it would wipe at least 10-15% off the entire worth of their company and that's just assuming Take Two would be willing to sell for ~$10-20b.

Now, if Microsoft were to buy Rockstar it'd wipe a measly 0.6 - 1.2% off their worth. Basically chump change. They could find that kind of money down the back of the sofa.

So yeah if anyone is buying Rockstar it'll be MS.

To be fair, we have two (or three?) interviews with top xbox execs saying:

1.CFO of xbox: First or best or better on xbox

2. Phil Spencer: Don't have to ship on ps5 to make the deal work, game availability is important, supporting other platforms not sustainable.

So both sides have valid points since MS loves to contradict themselves with every interview. I still stick with the fact that it would be monumentally stupid to release even a single AAA singleplayer game on their biggest competitors system while your own console base took a massive hit during the last generation.

But they are known for making completely weird decisions out of the blue so what do I know.

Great news, hope we see something very soon on what this means in terms of exclusivity, we know currently released games will stay Multiplatform but what about everything else.

Hope we also see another Quake Wars, that game is a beast

We need a formal event with 2021/2022 titles. But it will probably be around E3 time.

The Great Reset Chinese Lab Virus is still screwing with timelines it seems.

Sony doesn't have the money nor the size to make such deal profitable.

This needs to stop being said. You don't have to buy a company with cash. There are many ways. And Sony in fact does have the money to make big purchases. They don't need to use cash though.

Size to make the deal profitable? Do you know how big the PS brand is? Maybe you should check sales.

You really dont understand the difference between Sony and Microsoft, stuff like this doesnt just only affect the gaming divisions.

People are really excited for games that were already on Xbox.

And other reasons.....
I don't care if another fan base loses out playing a game(s), I gain nothing from it.

I am excited for a monsterous catalogue of now 1st party titles on gamepass and all new titles being day 1.

with bethesda games into play , the more I think about the increase in the prices of games in Europe to 70/80 euros (returnal 80.99 in my country) the more I think Gamepass is the best future for all gamers.

Good for Microsoft, I think they will release the 1st batch of games for everyone still. But who knows after the 1st set though?

If the games are exclusive there will be meltdowns

If the games are not exclusive there will be meltdowns

Im excited for both scenarios

The GTA brand is as recognisable as the Playstation brand. Take Two would likely tell Sony to fuck off out of it.

A fusion of the developers of some of the buggiest games of all times and those of such beloved pieces of software like Windows ME or any other Win10 Update.

Looking forward to it :p

On a more serious note. I just hope MS don`t "EA" the studios. Some extra QA wouldn`t hurt though.

Not really. Just because lots of pre teens got gifted a PlayStation back then and played gta doesn't mean it's recognizable as a ps brand.

A majority of the mainstream games besides a few were also available on pc. Gta as an example were, which was where I played it.

My favorite will be the people who try to claim it was "obvious" what they were going to do either way. As if there really is a clear answer in any capacity.

It's very obvious imo. The heavy hitters will be exclusive. Some smaller games or games where being multiplatform just makes sense (see Minecraft) will be on Playstation. There, I solved the mystery.
