I think that kind of upscaling still requires manual editing of game assets. So it's something that would have to be done with the developer.

You should be thanking them. The utter shit show that was PSN on PS3 is leaps and bounds better today than it ever was. If the company isn't making profit and therefore reinvesting in all aspects, online service being one of them, then they have no inclination to do it. Thank you MS. I can now enjoy gaming online on my PS5.
