Just want to see doom and gears.

I’d love some in game gameplay of gears but I assume that game won’t come out until 2028 or some shit.

Or is it just one of Phil's balls in my throat?
Seeing speculation that the mystery game is Kiln from Double Fine. Should be a cool show with that lineup.

Now I'm both equally confused and intrigued.

If the surprise game isn't Oblivion-make ... what is it.

Mystery studio? Probably Virtuos with their The Elder Scrolls IV remake.

Fable won't be shown until it gets it's own Direct immediately after the Xbox event this summer.

If I was Bethesda, I'd announce Oblivion at a much more casual and broad audience show like the Game Awards, E3, one of the Bethesda fests they have, or even a State of Play. It's surely going to be on everything day 1.

As usual, will catch trailers of anything interesting later on, after the show. MS's directs haven't been worth setting time aside for in years. Unfortunately similar could be said for many of the recent SOPs (outside of the one where they revealed PHYSINT).

Ironically the TGAs bucked the trend (well, a couple of the Nintendo Directs last year were pretty solid, too), but that's an end-of-year glorified commercial with some awards tucked in there, and they just lucked out with 2024 after two years in a row of crappy events (especially 2023's, which was just awful). At this point the only guaranteed event worth setting time aside for IMHO that could be coming up anytime soon, is the next Nintendo Direct, because that's probably when they'll finally reveal the Switch 2.

Everything else is too much a crapshoot to really say if it's worth the time or just wait until the whole thing's over and you can go watch whatever trailers look neat. Maybe the next PlayStation Showcase will be worth the time, especially since it seems they're scaling back on the GAAS glut. But the 2023 one left a bad taste in my mouth that hasn't completely gone away.

And then behind that, maybe the next Xbox Showcase? But that won't be much IMO unless they show some gameplay for Perfect Dark, E-Day, Everwild, Outer Worlds 2 etc. running on a Series X. MS do bullocks with fake/dishonest gameplay showings too much vs. what you actually get. Case-in-point: Forza Motorsport.

Gaf Favorite Aaron Greenberg has stated that there will be an unannounced game at the Direct too.

Unannounced port of Forza Horizon 5 to PS5 and Switch 2.

I currently have no desire to play South of Midnight, but maybe something changes that.

Doom and Expedition 33? Hell yah.

Forza horizon 6.

Its the 20 year anniversary of Forza this year. And last Forza Horizon game launched in 2021.

If there's a Horizon game this year then it's probably not gonna be from Playground, they're all hands deck on Fable.

Maybe Sumo Digital can work on one? They've done support work for the Forza games before, right?

I wouldn't expect FH6. I'd expect that will likely come a full year later than originally thought so it will launch on everything. PS has a large hole in their catalog and nothing like FH to compete against it. It would sell very well.

Anything Forza would be revealed at a big boy event also.

Doom and 33 are day one insta buys. South of Midnight looks great, will try on GP first.

Much more excited to see the next Double Fine banger than an Oblivion or whatever remake.

Mystery game

Best guess: Blade
Unlikely: Contraband
Blade is years away, this is for stuff targeting this year.

I thought these things were for first party stuff? Expedition 33 isn't even exclusive?

Ara History Untold was presented at last year's Developer Direct. Oxide is not a Microsoft first party developer.

I see. You'd think with the amount of studios MS owns these days they wouldn't need to prop up their own developer direct with 3rd party. Especially when its just a handful of titles.

Possibly, its a new unannounced game but will be getting a release date and its this year
You'd think they'd save a big one like that for the summer showcase for maximum exposure. But then again this is MS, they could fuck up promoting GTAVI if they tried.

I know that Playground has two different teams working on games, but usually developers heavily dedicate the majority of their resources toward one game before moving on to the next game. It would shock me if they could release Fable and Forza within 3 months of one another

Double Fine makes the most sense. Platformers should not take more than 4 years and their last game was 2021

It's Microsofts answer to the Dualsense with Haptics and such.
Balls, the rumble is nice but the triggers are a pain in the arse and the battery sucks.

I just need a more reliable Elite with hal effect sticks, microswitch triggers, bumpers and godly back paddles.
