Upcoming Indiana Jones game is a Xbox console Exclusive

Of course it is.

You are aware of this, right?
Because of facts and common sense?

They have a new movie upcoming. It's an old IP that they don't use at all anymore and would like to make relevant again.
Why ignore offical report and infos we have ?
Todd is a lifelong Indy fan, and has been trying for over a decade to make this game," said Pete Hines, SVP of Global Marketing. "He's beyond excited to work with the award-winning MachineGames team, a perfect fit for Indy
and I'm not saying it will be exclusive, i even think the reverse is more probable

Not ignoring anything. I mean for an IP holder, there is always two factors involved, aren't they? Money and the overall appeal and value of the IP.

My argument was that MS can clearly offer a truckload of money for full exclusivity, and it is still possible that Disney reject that offer because they want their IP to reach the widest possible audience -- especially because they also have an Indiana Jones money lined up.

Anyway, anything can happen. This may be a full exclusive, timed exclusive, or multiplatform game. We won't know until official confirmation from one of the parties involved.

in fact we agree but Todd seems to have been especially active to get the license exclusive or not here
The story seems different that the usual looking for first studio availlable coming from Disney
I doubt the gathered item behind him where only for a tease, his passion for the licence seems legit (and disproportionate imo)
I think KOTOR remake is the same and the project is impulsed by sony and not only disney looking for a deal.
Remake seems a big part of their vision now.And now that kotor is real, the door is open for other rumors.

yes your reply is all kinds of dumb, beyond its non sequitur.

It was in response to a prior poster who was talking existing contracts. My reply was that if MS wanted to make this single platform instead of multi (assuming the original license stated the game as such), they could pay the license holder if needed to do so.

That is a statement of fact.

But you went the insecure fanboy route, so good on you.
No it isn't. It was your dumb fangirl reply which bought marketcap and cash on hand up. You could have stated like other people in this thread who stated MS could have renegotiated the contract or paid for the exclusivity. But you went full retard with 7X Disneys marketcap and 135 billion cash in hand.
Maybe ask MS why Windows Phone wasn't solved by just cash and marketcap? Or their search engine Bing?

Never gonna happen, sorry! One of my fav movie heroes ever ❤️

I'm afraid of what they'll do this time though. Can Machinegames do other stuff than first person shooters? I don't play first person shooters…
I really hope this isn't a first person.....I guess we will see when they reveal more.

Before the Bethesda Disney deal closed MS already had an intent to purchase Zenimax/Bethesda.

That means Disney and Bethesda management knew that MS/XGS was going to be running the show.

If Indy somehow is a multiplat that has to be launched on competing platforms then Disney/Bethesda mngt knowingly fucked MS.
Especially considering Disney gave Sony 2 (more relevant) exclusive characters in Spiderman and Wolverine.

I'll consider it an exclusive until otherwise stated...

I want to see it be an Xbox Exclusive and for Disney to sue Bethesda for breach of contract because it was assumed that console release meant all consoles.

the flip side of that is that discussions undoubtedly started long before Microsoft made an offer for Zenimax. They can't change the deal to favour Microsoft during the bid period.

I'm sure you would love that Sony fanboy....You guys are getting easier to spot lol ----How do you know the deal has not changed? How do you know that Disney is not involved do you know how to think? Do you need help?

According to Jez Corden XBOX Bethesda's Indian Jones games is a multiplat that will launch on PS.

What is certain is that the IP was licensed before the acquisition was completed and it's really unlikely that Disney accepted a deal covering just Xbox/PC.
They could have tried to rework the contract but it's really unlikely, just like Sony was pretty much forced to develop MLB for Xbox.

Hopefully people won't cover their eyes and ears like they did when someone objected that Starfield could have been delayed based on their history of not being able to deliver big RPGs in a polished state at launch, something they couldn't afford anymore in a post Cyberpunk world.

Shocking news........do we really need a thread for every obvious Bethesda game that will be xbox/pc exlusive?

Here's how it is: Any AAA Bethesda game that hasn't already signed a contract will be xbox/pc exclusive. This includes starfield, elder Scrolls, and new doom, and new wolfenstien, indy, dishonored 3, prey, rage, Redfall, etc, you get the idea.
Do you complain of obvious square threads for exclusive play station games? Give it a rest

It wouldn't surprise me if it wasn't. Microsoft didn't own Bethesda till after that deal was already hashed out. Maybe Microsoft as owner of both Publisher and studios can shift it exclusive, but if there's a clause that explicitly requires a PS5 release, then there is no way around it.

I imagine it's still day one on Game Pass, though. Either way, can't wait to see that game. I feel MachineGames are going to knock it out of the park.

Mark this down, I'm being called team blue, LOL. I am team everyone, relax.
Plus all I was saying was basically every Bethesda AAA game will be xbox/PC exclusive, the thread is fine for the game itself, just doesn't need to say WILL BE XBOX EXCLUSIVE like it's some sort of news. Ratchet and clank thread and GR7 threads didn't say "SONY EXCLUSIVE" since it was obvious, just like this.

Said this at the time that i dont expect the game to be exclusive. Disney will want this on as many devices as possible, especially with the new movie coming next year.

I laughed when I read that. But nah, you lean green just like I lean blue. Nothing wrong with admitting bias, don't you think?

I have some bias, but I love all games. The more competition the better, imagine a world with only Sony or MS or Nintendo, yikes!

Disney have no problem allowing a console exclusive for their IP. There's examples of that already.
However, there would be a formula for Disney's price. So it could be that Bethesda pay upfront for the IP and then do what they want with it. Downside is its a higher price up front. Or they pay a lower price upfront and Disney get a cut of the sales, so Disney would want it on every console to increase sales. I would also assume that they would not want it in GP if that means less individual sales.
It gets complicated, and MS will just honour the original deal and not go back to change it. This is what they have done with everything.

I feel like if it was exclusive to PC/Xbox we would have heard by now.

It's harder for MS to get exclusives given their marketshare, maybe they weren't willing to stump up the extra cash Disney would have requested.

Not to be a dick, but is Indiana Jones still relevant as an IP? Don't get me wrong, I expect the project to land beautifully, given the developer behind it, but...

Being multiplatform might be a thing but imagine it's not even on gamepass. It's always a strange one when there is a third party involved.

I was genuinely thinking the same thing. You'd think I'd be the perfect target demographic for this. I'm old enough that I saw the original Indiana Jones trilogy movies in the theater as a kid. But I can barely muster a shrug about this game and the recent Indiana Jones 5 movie news. It just feels like a franchise that passed its prime a couple decades ago.

As far as the game is concerned, there have been so many Indiana Jones-inspired franchises (like Tomb Raider, Uncharted) that an Indiana Jones game coming out now will probably feel like a middling copy of those games -- which would bring everything full circle because early criticism of both TR and Uncharted was that they felt like mediocre video game copies of Indiana Jones movies.

I'm sure there will be some people really interested in this but I can't imagine the audience being anything other than niche.

Microsoft can't lose, they get the benefit of the game pass effect and tap into the large Playstation market for extra full price sales. Options available for most gamers, The common architecture is just to east not to get that extra increase in sales.

Probably not that relevant. I'd expect the hype from older peeps to trickle down to the younger generation. It seems the younger generation are very open and accepting to older pop culture nowadays. Especially young gamers.

I think it's relevant, there is a ton of 40+ gamers now and they make a lot of purchasing decisions.

Don't worry about this one. Impossible scenario. Microsoft owns the studio and the publisher and that's Microsoft's business model.

What are the chances of this showing up at the MS+Bethesda Conference? Really hoping it's like Uncharted.
I hope it's similar to this. Was a great game when it released.

He's about to have a resurgence, it's better to be ahead of the trends than behind them.

Imagine asking if Mad Max is a relevant ip in 2014.

Uncharted is basically an Indiana Jones ripoff and games + movie were succesful. So i guess Indie can still do fine even without the Sony monster marketing.

In a perfect world, Indiana Jones would always be relevant, being the quintessence of a certain type of story that it is. Indiana Jones should be remembered through the centuries like King Arthur or the paladin Roland. He's the archetype of the treasure hunter. He's cool. He's the ladies' man. He raids ancient tombs. He finds lost cities. He kicks Nazi ass. He uses a goddamn whip. If Indy isn't the stuff of legend, I don't know who is.

Harsh truth is, in this fast world of here today, come tomorrow, he isn't that commercially relevant anymore. But a good Indiana Jones game has the potential of being better than a similar good game that doesn't have Indiana Jones in it.
