Kojima Productions - “we continue to have a very good partnership with PlayStation”

twitter is full of the most pathetic idiots from all sides. they should just close that shit down for everones sake.
Bungie didn't have to say they continue to have a great relationship with Xbox lol. No one has ever had to say that. SQEX never had to say they continue to work with Nintendo.

But yes, twitter is trash.

Kojima productions is 3rd party, they made a game for PlayStation, I assume they now have an agreement with Microsoft this time. His next game could go to Nintendo? Either way it's fine and hope he makes another game on PlayStation soon.
That's how 3rd party works.

Kojima cares about 2 things:

1)Being able to do the games he wants (stadia skipped it, and also maybe Sony skipped it too)
2)Make money to keep going

Not sure why people complain about this, it is a business. If I could have the money for a devkit for either Nintendo, PS, or Xbox, I would be happy to port or make games for any of them.

Because people feel they own what they're a fan of.
Have you never seen people that are fan of underground/unknown bands/singers complaining when those eventually become mainstream? It's just as pathetic.

Kojima: "Hey I have this idea for a new game. Would you be interested?"
Sony: "Eh, not sure we're wanting to do this one."
Kojima: "Okay I will seek funding elsewhere then."
Sony: "Cool. In the meantime, let's get going on Death Stranding 2."

Console wars were, are, and will forever remain one of the stupidest fucking things ever conceived by mankind.

Is this sad? Or is it obvious PR when "some" Xbox fans are making it into something that it wasn't.

No, it's definitely sad.

And likely prompted by a lot of angry tweeters, won't be surprised if there were a certain number of death threats going by how the calm people on twitter usually operate.

Yep lol. I mean that petition yesterday tells you all you need to know. Sad.

I will never understand how this egomaniac, failed B-movie director gets so much attention and reverence. I thought that the Death Stranding clusterfuck would have been a wake-up call for the majority, but Kojima seems more powerful than ever before.
Death Stranding is the most innovative AAA game in years. It's a breath of fresh air in an industry that hates Ubisoft formulaic games but then copies them anyway. He is an egomaniac and a failed movie director, but he gets attention because he is good at what we care about in video games... gameplay. This mother fucker made walking simulators fun and built a game around those mechanics. Failed B-movie director? Sure, but an exceptional game director.

Bungie hasnt worked exclusively with xbox since they left Microsoft. So it's not the same thing. Not to mention that they immediately said they would continue to remain multiplatform, even with new games.

People complained about ubisoft style open world games but when they get something unique and different, they still complain!

I dont complain about Ubisoft open world games, in fact i love most of them. Death Stranding could of done with some of that Ubi style, instead of a boring world with nothing to see or do.

It sucks that they only just greenlit Death Stranding 2. Kojima had a reveal trailer ready for DS1 just 6 months after leaving Konami. He didnt even have studio space at the time and was able to mocap a trailer with Norman Reedus using Sucker Punch's engine. I cant believe Sony let him hanging for three years.

He's one of the few guys who can actually release a new AAA game in just 3 years.

Well given that Sony is apparently now all about announcing big games 3 months before they are released, he can theoretically announce his game 3 months from now and still release in 2022.

You move packages across the map. Thats what the game is. What's the point in adding towers and stupid outposts? Rather, you have to figure the best and most efficient way to get the packages to their destination. As you progress, you get better tools and equipment to do that. The game wasnt perfect but I can respect the fact that it's a very unique and fresh game.

Has there been any confirmation that this is happening, other than Reedus's slip up? Because I'm 100% convinced he's working on Kojiam's next game, but need a little more evidence that what I've seen that it's DS2.

The Overdose leak certainly doesn't feel like something connected to DS.

Seems more like something that's related to Silent Hill than anything else. Wonder when we will see the project?

Once you accept the fact that Death Stranding is an exercise in mindfulness, rather than a typical video gameplay loop, it all starts to make sense. I started by hating it, and ended loving it. But, you have to want what it's giving you. It's a game about a journey rather than a destination.

Nah, Im just going by Norman's slip up. No other leak.

Cool. Thought so. I'm not saying it's not DS2… but signs do point more to Silent Hill, given the overt horror theme of the Overdose leak.

Margaret Qualley would make an excellent Silent Hill protagonist.

I freely admit I'd prefer a new Silent Hill from Kojima than another DS, so my opinion is hopelessly biased 😊

I enjoyed Death Stranding's gameplay loop. I played it twice. Once on PS4 at launch and then on PS5. Each time for 100 hours. The loop of building and upgrading bridges, roads, and zip lines and seeing them rack up likes was very rewarding. Some of my bridges and ziplines had over 100k likes. Yes, some of the likes are automatic where if someone uses it you got like 50 likes, but I just loved that people were using my zipline network that I spent hours setting up climbing steep mountains to get the perfect Zipline accessible to other ziplines on my server.

And that was just the secondary loop, I really enjoyed how KojiPro made the walking fun once you get the other suits. The power suits that let you jump over large chasms, the sprinting suit that lets you run around everywhere without fear of falling, and the addition of bikes and trucks made the game a lot more fun than it had any right to be. I genuinely enjoyed leveling up bases because it was always fun to play around with the game's mechanics. By the end of the game, I even enjoyed the combat after leveling up my guns and buying some grenade launchers and RPGs.

If anything, it was shocking to me how typical the gameplay loop was for a game this atypical. It was no MGSV, but it felt very video gamey despite literally being a walking simulator.

Dude showed up and talked about the cloud. This isn't nearly as big a deal as some people are trying to make it, and that it was somehow the highlight of the show says a lot about it.

Sad that they even have to clarify.
That's exactly what I was thinking. Radical fans on all sides need to chill, it's ridiculous, lol. I'm sure they saw dumpster fires on Twitter and felt the need to address it before it got even more out of control. So silly.

Kojima fans have been historically nutty, part of the reason MGS4 even exists is because of death threats.

edit: actually, by that I mean part of the reason Kojima led it. The game was being made without Kojima at first.

Twitter isn't trash. It's the people on Twitter that are trash. There is a difference!

I find it interesting how similar this announcement was to the Sony one back in 2019. Which, coincidentally, occurred the same month that Kojima initially started talking about his cloud game ideas.

Kojima during conference: "Yes, there is a game I have always wanted to make. It's a completely new game, one that no one has ever experienced or seen before. I've waited very long for the day when I could finally start to create it. With Microsoft's cutting edge cloud technology and the change in the industry's trend, it has now become possible to challenge myself to make this never-before-seen concept. It may take some time, but I'm looking forward to teaming up with Xbox Game Studios and hope to bring you some exciting news in the future! Thank you!"

Sony in 2019: "PlayStation itself came about through the integration of creativity and technology. Our mission is to seamlessly evolve this platform as one that continues to deliver the best and most immersive entertainment experiences, together with a cloud environment that ensures the best possible experience, anytime, anywhere. For many years, Microsoft has been a key business partner for us, though of course the two companies have also been competing in some areas. I believe that our joint development of future cloud solutions will contribute greatly to the advancement of interactive content."

Microsoft in 2019: "Sony has always been a leader in both entertainment and technology, and the collaboration we announced today builds on this history of innovation. Our partnership brings the power of Azure and Azure AI to Sony to deliver new gaming and entertainment experiences for customers."

It's kind of sad that this need to be said, but not surprising because some people could not accept that Kojima could possibly be making a Xbox exclusive.
