The drive in the box being detachable isn't an issue for me buying, but the online requirement to activate drive like the the current drives will see me abandon PlayStation. Trojan horse online activation for a required feature for physical play makes it one step off of being an always online console.
It is just as well I upgraded my PC recently with a Ryzen 7 9800X3D because between this news, the lack of games to justify the PS5 hardware I could easily skip the next-crossgen and go back and pickup cheap £10 copies of PS5 games I missed at £70.
