GOD OF WAR RAGNAROK launches on November 9

Interesting, i hope they cut some of the fat that is unnecessary RPG elements, side quests and boss fight rehashes and reskins and instead of that polish and focus and increase the depth of the combat/combos, enemy variety, the story.

Just realized they are releasing the game on a Wednesday, Jim Ryan chose the high road since both Horizon FW and GT7 released on a Friday.

GG went above and and beyond to ensure the PS5 version of HFW was cranked to the max in terms of what it could offer visually, like wise so did Insomniac with Spider-man.

I'm curious to see how SSM took advantage of the PS5 with this game.
 
Hot take...Somethings kinda off with Chris Judges voice in these last 2 trailers (the gameplay reveal and this CGI one).

It's like he's a bit sick and is trying to sound like Kratos instead of being Kratos. Call me crazy..

Sony games never have framepacing/frametime issues at 30 FPS, so you should be good. It's not technically demanding a way a fighter or something where 60 FPS seems crucial would be, either, so no sweat.

Been playing HFW on base PS4 and the perf has been rock solid. Visually an amazing treat as well, tho of course it would look even better with better IQ on a PS5 (along with 60 FPS support). The only potential issue might be load times but if you've swapped out for a SSD then even that will be manageable.

Good point.

God of War IS Kratos. He's been the central character for several of the games over many years. There's no way in hell someone else can replace that mantle.

The idea of playing Atreus or some shit in a sequel is off putting. it wouldn't even be God of War anymore.

Atreus is also a ranged character, GoW is a melee series. They could do side games with Atreus, yes, but they aren't killing Kratos. Specially when the Reboot was extremely successful.

Curious to see where this game goes in terms of narrative if Kratos doesn't die in the end.

The idea of just waking up in another realm with another set of gods sounds "cheap".

That's if there's even a sequel.
 
Now that this thing is finally being released, here is what I want out of the sequel:

- Thor's Hammer - Give me this thing mid game like they did with the Chains in the original. Let me kill thor by mid game and use his hammer for the rest of the game. I really hope they arent showing much of the game to avoid weapon spoilers. GOW3 had 4 weapons, and the cestus was my favorite. I want the hammer to hit hard. A slower but more powerful version of the Axe with some sick ass combos.

- flying - Yes I got flying in HFW, but why stop there. thor can fly with his hammer. let me fly with his hammer. If not around the open world then just in arenas. Kratos wasnt very mobile in the original and needs his own set of hermes boots in the reboot. Flying short distances with the hammer should do.

- Titan battles - Teasing giants in the first game and then killing them all at the end was such a letdown. If the PS3 can do titan battles then the PS4 should be able to do them way better. I dont want to hear that they were limited by the ram or hdd or gpu. Fuck right off Cory. You chose the PS4 as the base, now give me an AAA title with the setpieces ive come to expect from this series going back to the PS2 days. No more mother fucking excuses.

- Fast travel improvements. this one should be easy with the PS5, but man if they make me go through a portal into the void or the bifrost im gonna riot. The portal should allow you to travel to any of the 9 realms.

- Visuals. The game looked like a budget title in its first showing. Little to no graphical improvement. GOW 1 to GOW 1 had a bigger more noticeable improvement on the freaking PS2. I get that they probably maxed out the PS4 on their first go around, but this is simply not good enough. Your $70 PS5 AAA game cant look like a DLC expansion. It has to look brand new even if its on the same gen. Just look at the jump GG took from KZSF to HZD to HFW and what insomniac did with Sunset Overdrive to Ratchet to Spiderman. i hope the delay is due to them going back and reworking some of the art and redoing the lighting engine to make it more attractive and on par with HFW, Ratchet and Demon Souls because right now it looks like Spiderman Miles. A side project from the B team.

- I dont have any wants for storytelling, game design and combat. those were perfect already in 2018, and I have no doubt that they will finish the reboot series strong with even better story and level design even if Cory isnt working on the game. But the visuals need to improve from 2018 even if that means downgrading the PS4 version to 900p like HFW and PS4 Pro version to 1080p-1200p. GG used the resolution downgrade to get 40% more out of the GPU. lets hope SSM does the same.

I'd like a prequel set in Egypt telling us what kratos been through to mature. Because he spent some time there before going to Asgard.

Literally WHAT DOES IT MATTER! This reason for being mad just because it's cross Gen for the sake of it being cross Gen is one of the dumbest shit I've ever seen.

Look at Horizon Forbidden West? One of the best looking games TO DATE and it was cross gen.
 
i would still rather have the original series remade because at this time, nothing is even equal to what it offers.
