Kojima Productions - “we continue to have a very good partnership with PlayStation”

I think Kojima is signaling he is not an "enemy of PlayStation" lmao, too much heat.
He wanted that check now deal. Guerilla, close that Zoom.

I get it but it is still silly to do it this way. Norman Reedus already made it clear they are working on something, it all couldn't be more obvious.
i think its quite possible that - that was a controlled leak to deflect from there other project which very well could be abandoned, what if Death stranding 2 isnt really in development yet and its another game... norman isnt new to NDA stuff hes a professional actor, i really think that magazine interview was a fake leak, just my thoughts though.

That would be cool, I liked Death Stranding but I would much rather get a new IP.

Yea the more I think about it, the less I believe that we're getting a sequel to Death Stranding. The ending of DS wraps the game up so well, and imo doesn't really leave room for another story to be told. They would also have to completely change up the gameplay loop in order to do a proper sequel.

Sam defeats Higgs, who is killed by Fragile. Sam stops Amelie from causing the final extinction event. The Death Stranding is over (no more timefall). Lou survives outside of the pod, and Sam destroys his Bridges cufflinks, signifying that he's no longer a porter. The ending heavily implies that the world is healing and Sam Porter Bridges' journey is over.

Norman Reedus has also "leaked" DS2 twice, which is pretty fishy. He talked about the game being in negotiations a while ago, in addition to his recent comments about how the game is underway. Strange that neither Kojima or Sony cared enough to tell him to stop talking about it.

On the other hand, Kojima said this in an interview back in 2019, which means that DS2 could be a prequel instead of a sequel. This would make more sense because then they would be able to use the same gameplay loop (porter and timefall elements). Can't wait to find out...

I mean, why wouldn't they?

They look at both Microsoft and Sony as business partners, not opposing factions from some post-apocalyptic movie, or game.

He gave playstation a fuckin pizza delivery game after so much hype. Xbox game should be exactly as repetitive and boring. Which it probably will.

Kojima's creative genius peaked at MGS3.

Why are fans of some franchises, creators and companies so weird.

Some of the posts about Atlus bringing persona to xbox and kojima making an xbox game have been so weird.

If the rumors are true with Sony then I guess the same engine. But that's assuming Silent Hill even exists.
I was told it does by someone I trust as a source. As far as I know, it's the next Kojima project and it's been in development for a few yeras, but DS2 exists as well.
Which makes me think SH is probably deep in development whereas DS2 just started recently.

I wouldn't be surprised to see an announcement soon and the release within a year, but this is just speculation on my side.

I know it sounds weird to think Kojima would have 2 horror projects (SH and the Xcloud thing), but apparently that's happening.

Fanboys have an emotional attachment to a specific brand. Xbox fanboys are mad about final fantasy. Remember that cliff blezinski game that didn't release on xbox? Poor guy was getting bullied over it on twitter and even mentioned xbox fanboys in an interview once. Pathetic

Sense of entitlement over digital content is weird.

Of course, they have a partnership.

It is with Sony that Kojima is making his main big AAA game.
The big game is the Microsoft game it was in development since death stranding originally launched, it was a stadia exclusive until they dropped support then Microsoft picked it up it runs on UE. DS2 is the small game, it won't be nothing for him to make a part 2 I'm decima atleast with Micosoft they will let him retain the IP instead of vulture Sony pimping him out like Konami has all his life and make him build their IP up. Poor Bastard...

I will never understand how this egomaniac, failed B-movie director gets so much attention and reverence. I thought that the Death Stranding clusterfuck would have been a wake-up call for the majority, but Kojima seems more powerful than ever before.
I literally just watched some clip where some version of Snake was supposed to pour some ashes out and then decided not to...

It was the silliest thing I'd seen all day.

This is what people are fighting over?

I remember playing MGS with my cousin back in middle school in 99(he'd rented it from blockbuster) and it was dope, all the stealth and action mechanics...but the story was doody.

Codec conversations interrupting the gameplay flow, overlong cutscenes.

Has He gotten worse since then?

You really think he'd pitch his major project to Stadia? Really?

Kojima's been around a long time, and he knows the business. Stadia was a failure from day#1, and you think he'd entrust a huge amount of time and resources to such a marginal platform? Sorry, that's simply not plausible in my opinion.

Its going to be a side-project like Boktai.

Oh yeah, absolutely happens both sides. This is just another most recent example of fanboys being crazy.

It's been an interesting week for that stuff, just to remind us.

I think that as Stadia mentioned they didn't even receive a pitch from Kojipro. But it could be possible he considered to make a small game for them:
  1. He considers game streaming will be important in the future for gaming and is interested on making a game designed for it.
  2. Stadia were the only ones making streaming only games.
  3. Jade Raymond was in charge of the Stadia games. Kojima and Raymond are friends and fans of each other.
  4. Google has a ton of money so when they were investing hard on games for Stadia they could have funded the project and wouldn't give a fuck about sales or Stadia performance as business.
  5. Maybe they were in talks with Stadia but before he sent a game pitch Google decided Stadia was a failure and removed their investment on games for it.
  6. Kojima had that game idea, but Sony thought streaming is a very secondary business for them, that their streaming installbase is too small and to make profitable that game and that fans would riot for locking down a game in a $120/year service. They prefer to make profitable business instead of sending hundreds of millions of dollars to the garbage bin so signed with him instead a project that in addition to a streaming before was being sold (Death Stranding 2).
  7. MS doesn't have any issue on burning millions for no profit, but to have a Kojima game would help them in marketing for for Xbox/Game Passs Ultimate/xCloud/"the power of the cloud" Azure bullshit (very likely it will be a normal game that can be downloaded and played locally but they decide to put it only via streaming only under GPU).

Timeline wise, and given Kojima's words in the clip on the showcase, I'd surmise that he's currently balls deep in the Sony project that's likely for release in the next year or two (if rumours are to be believed), and then he will turn his attention to the XCloud game.

This will likely dismay both hardcore Sony and XBox fanboys, which is just delicious.

Yeah I mean Xbox didn't buy Kojipro or anything. I'm guessing there's going to be more Kojima games playable on PlayStation.

Although as someone who owns a true real PS5 I'm happy they said this.
I wasn't aware of the other 3 PS5 permutations:

false real PS5
true fictitious PS5
false fictitious PS5

Can anyone explain what a "cloud game" even means?
Could mean a bunch of things.

Total cloud streaming like Stadia, Xcloud, or PSnow.

Crackdown 3's shenanigans where part of the computing is done off-site.

Aspects of the environment are taken from external data, like MS Flight Sim.

Certain player data is shared with others over the cloud, like Death Stranding or Souls games.

Honestly the correct answer is whatever the hell Kojima wants it to mean.

lol, his big game is the AAA Sony project he is working on. In his own words, in response to what he is working on:

"A big title and a title that's a new challenge.

In addition, he also told the following in an interview on the NHK radio, regarding what he is working on:

1. A AAA game that everybody can enjoy
2. A smaller experimental project that is neither open world nor a shooter.

I swear this week has brought out all the fucking cringe. Imagine being so emotionally attatched to a plastic box that your gonna cry over "muh exclusives" i really cant tell if this is a parody or if bitch ass fucking cry babies are actually sad. People need to get a life

Psvr2
Death Stranding 2
Ff16
Helldivers reboot

Need to think what else could be at this showcase

Bend, PixelOpus, and or a few other Sony teams could have a reveal.

Crisis Core release date is still unannounced I think.
The new BioShock is possible, but I doubt it.
Sam Lake said they'd show more about Alan Wake 2 around "summer time" back at The Geoff's.
Small chance of Star Wars Jedi Survivor showing up.
Avatar game idk. Seems to be signed to a Sony marketing deal.

And it's not a reboot. It's Helldivers 2.

I am going to go off Dusks comments on the Snitch's discord, he did allude to it not being called Helldivers 2.

Had to double check but Crisis Core got a December 13th date

https://www.eurogamer.net/crisis-core-final-fantasy-7-reunion-will-release-in-december

Others are possibilities, I suspect that we will also have a section around Mw2 and a possible vr mode.
Some people think it's gonna be called Helldivers Testament.

The Nvidia leak had it titled as Helldivers 2.

By reboot, I didnt mean that it would retcon the first one but just more so that its not a typical sequel.

But basically think the title is probably not Helldivers 2. Enough of a tangent I think.
