Ugh, actually they did.
They purchased Groove Networks in 2005 and later rebranded it as Azure.
Groove Networks is Azure, only the branding changed. That's not the basis or branding of Azure. It's mostly deprecated but still used for Office365 etc. If the point is they acquire companies that they integrate into their ecosystem - then yes, that's true. But that's not entirely novel - and even if true only supports their ability to not be incompetent and be successful in acquisitions.
Microsoft president and vice chairman Brad Smith has said Xbox's acquisition of Activision Blizzard is fair because PlayStation has significantly more exclusive games.
As reported by Bloomberg, Smith said during an annual shareholders meeting that Microsoft would present Sony's dominant position in the market as one reason for why its $68.7 billion acquisition of Activision Blizzard should go through. The company will defend its colossal deal in court after The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) announced earlier in December that it would seek to block it.
"The FTC's case is really based on a market that they've identified that they say has two companies and two products, Sony PlayStation and Microsoft Xbox," Smith said.
"If you look at the global market, Sony has 70% of that market, and we have 30%. So the first thing a judge is going to have to decide is whether the FTC lawsuit is a case that will promote competition or is it really instead of case that will protect the largest competitor from competition."
Smith added that PlayStation has 286 exclusive games while Xbox only has 59. "So the administrative law judge is going to have to decide whether going from 59 to 60 is such a danger to competition that he should stop this from moving forward."
The FTC, which announced its intentions to block the acquisition on December 8, said at the time that Xbox would "gain control of top video game franchises" and therefore "harm competition in high-performance gaming consoles and subscriptions services by denying or degrading rivals' access to its popular content."
The FTC isn't the only government body raising concern of the deal either, as both the European Commission and the UK's Competitions and Market Authority have launched investigations.
The problem is lina khan has no experience in court system, its why ftc keep losing. If the FTC keeps going and suing cases they can't win based on feelings, they are going to end up even more toothless and neutered than they already are.
Office isn't a failure at all but is definitely an example of their extreme greed and anti consumer business practices. You do know there was a time when you bought windows you got everything in that one package. Once Microsoft realized they were the only game in town they sold it to you piece by piece. They love us consumers. Are you saying Zune was acquired and then shut down? Fairly sure Zune was a partnership with Toshiba, not an acquisition of a pre existing company/product.
Also,
??? Can you tease that out a bit for me please. I guenuinely would like to know more re: failure.
Office is part of a new trend, which is licensing your product.Office isn't a failure at all but is definitely an example of their extreme greed and anti consumer business practices. I get it, it's still anti consumer as shit.Office is part of a new trend, which is licensing your product.
It makes sense that way, as you are guanrenteed more customers.
Every program and software has a 1-3 year license, and would be useless after the license expires. This is to stop theft, and pirating, as online products can be pirated easily.
Not really. Its the nature of business. Nothing anti consumer about it.I get it, it's still anti consumer as shit.

Nothing to add here.

Oh the horror. Not wanting anyone to buy up all the third party publishers. What a horrible "script."Like you don't have your own.
"Worship the gobbling of the industry cause it's much team doing it." - this youOh, think ofthe childrSony.

Edit: laugh all you want buttercup. Your reasons are painfully transparent. "Go team fox rah rah rah! Teehees!"
Unlike you I don't suffer from self-delusion, I'm fully aware of my extreme preference for Xbox and have never denied it. Sony is so smug, entitled and arrogant mainly due to people like yourself that will defend and justify any and everything Sony does. I'd love to see Sony get knocked down a peg or ten. I'd love to see all those games go to Game Pass although I will admit ABK would not have been my first choice as an acquisition.
I do also enjoy Jimbo's ridiculous demands, arrogant entitlement and whining and crying. Would love to see more,it's super entertaining.
Do you seriously think your reasons aren't painfully transparent to everyone except yourself?
Sorry, I don't participate in .gif discussions.
You only participate to war.Sorry, I don't participate in .gif discussions.
This is the stupidity in their arguments and why they'll get laughed out of court narrowing the market down to Sony and Microsoft is so dumb cause they'll win on these merits easily.
You weirdo, WTF is this?Sorry guys. I've been as hell lately. I'm going to shotgun reply...
-Thats fucking stupid. Only idiots thing that.
-False equivalence. Try harder
-Dafuq does that have to do with anything?
-Good point. And yeah, you were right in your PMs to me when you talked about what a dumbass that guy is
-lol
-No....not me. Well.....maybe on Saturday nights
-While your head is up in there, say hi to your pancreas for me
No time to quote directly so ya'll figure it out who those are to.
Ok....back to work

aside from the weird keyboard warrior fights you having with Enigma, I do agree with what you said about sony. they are smug and they do need to get knocked down or get slapped hard. and I hate this shrimp Jimbo. like I really hate him as CEO. I do not care if people love him because he is making a short-term profit. The only reason I want this deal to go through just so I see this bitch cry or fired for failing to protect the sony investment.Unlike you I don't suffer from self-delusion, I'm fully aware of my extreme preference for Xbox and have never denied it. I loved horizon and I want Sony studios to keep doing those games, So that part is very subjective, I would like them to make different games too.aside from the weird keyboard warrior fights you having with Enigma, I do agree with what you said about sony. they are smug and they do need to get knocked down or get slapped hard. and I hate this shrimp Jimbo. like I really hate him as CEO. I grew up on the PlayStation brand. and I loved them for their awesome Japanese games. when they took chances with awesome great IPs.
like.. fuck Horizon Zero banana and the last of the retards. they were awesome at first but fuck move on. I tried to play Horizon the other day, I swear I almost fell asleep just listening to her talking to a random NPC about a village getting attacked and I need to go save them. like, fuck why?
Even the new God of war is former of what it was during 1 - 3. they have the talent. they have the best-talented studios in the world. whatever they make is gold. let them make something new !! . but no Jimbo shrimp wants quick profit now before he retires.
A mind dump of epic proportions…You weirdo, WTF is this?![]()

If the Supreme Court rules next summer that companies the FTC sues can bypass their administrative court and go straight to district court it's going to get a lot tougher for them. Given the make up of the court they probably will. Their main tactic right now is to use it to delay so they can try to force settlements or just get companies to give up.If the FTC keeps going and suing cases they can't win based on feelings, they are going to end up even more toothless and neutered than they already are.

Yes.Nope.
https://news.microsoft.com/2005/03/...anywhere-collaboration-products-and-services/The acquisition also brings to Microsoft the development talent and technology leadership of top Groove executives, including founder Ray Ozzie

- Peer-to-peer collaboration solutions through Groove's Virtual Office, which let any Windows-based PC user instantly create ad hoc, virtual work spaces that securely and easily span organizational, geographic and network boundaries, and allow information workers to be productive whether they're online or temporarily disconnected from the network.
It would definitely be in Microsoft's favor to go straight to district court. The FTC has to prove that the merged entity of Microsoft and Activision will be illegal, not that it could be illegal, and it will be tougher to do that outside of their administrative court. Ultimately it gets to district court anyway if Microsoft has the patience to keep appealing, it could just get there faster if the Supreme Court extends due process protection to companies tangled in FTC red tape.Do you mean Sony? Cause bypassing and going to the court should be in MS favor...
Yes.

Yes, I'm citing official news from Microsoft. Are you using a citation from 17 years ago in this industry?
FTC has a big issues, when they are trying to narrow down the market with this case.
Just like this meta case, FTC needs to be clear with their goal, or they would embarrass themselve like here.
Yes, I'm citing official news from Microsoft.
No and yes are great explanations. People leaving and forming their own studios has nothing to do with acquisitions. If anything it contradicts your other point about "improved working conditions".Yes
Yes

No.
Your are only focused in Acti-Blizz.
This deal goes beyond them, outside Xbox.
A bunch of regulators?
As far as I know it's only the FTC that's made that claim. And while we don't know how many of the FTC regulators share that view, at best it's 3 seeing as that's how many voted to sue.
So exactly 3 regulators at best and you write that? That laugh of yours is either fake for fear of crying, or you're just that deluded.

The article quotes Brad Smith. Who cares? It doesn't change the reality that MS is not leading the gaming market and is not a monopoly. If Sony has 70% of the market they certainly don't need protection. No competitor should unless laws are being broken. It's from Brad Smith, vice chairman of MS. It's not from an article![]()
