After getting Zenimax and Activision, no regulator will allow MS to buy another big publisher.
Define big? ABK was the biggest one and I doubt that MS is interested in either EA or T2 anyway. Others are too small to be important. And in the first ABK would not sell if not for their internal issues.

They literally continued to support Minecraft and released games related to that IP on Playstation. Depending on the state of COD IP in a few it might or might not be removed from Playstation. Like Minecraft.
There were rumours for years that the purchase included a clause that Minecraft must be multi-platform. It could be 10 years (we will know relatively shortly in 2024). If we see a Minecraft 2 announced after the 10 year purchase anniversary I think we will know what system it will not be on. I have my doubts, mainly due to the lies spoken in the media around Bethesda. I'd believe them more had they said when they bought that company that future games are on Xbox and PC. At least when they say they will remain multiplatform this time, you could believe them. Past form is patchy at best.

Last time I checked, neither Minecraft Legends nor Minecraft Dungeons were released when Microsoft bought Mojang.
And last time I checked this is the only and only game thats under MS and still launching on PS.. so for me the obvious conclusion is that must be something in the aquisition concract ( same as bungie and sony ?) Is just conjecture sure.. but untill something comes out of bethesda or now ABK... Ill keep my conjectures and you can keep yours

If you read the document the "headline" statement is on the basis of Microsoft following through with the offers and contracts that have led to this.

Good luck to them if they suddenly decide to take everything off the table.

Yep, unfortunately.
It is a offer right ? So sony has to accept... its not something been imposed

Whoever was in charge of the maths calculation for that one is feeling some serious heat at work right now :messenger_tears_of_joy:
MS called them on the divestment being absurd. Then the CMA was like ... "ah man, the dog ate my homework. I was kidding. "

Did the calculations wrong? You guys believe this?

They didn't want to fine MS $3 billion on shaky footing after getting called on it.

There were rumours when Minecraft was bought MS must ensure it is multiplatform for about 10 years so it is possible that anything attached to the IP must be. I'd like to see where any Minecraft standalone release after 2024 before ceding that point.

That's what @reksveks was saying. I haven't gone through all the document yet
I've been reading it and the bulk of their explanation seems to be that the LTV calculation they based the provisional findings on was wrong and that Minecraft staying on all of the platforms it was on plus coming to the Switch validates Microsoft's claims of their intention to not to make COD exclusive. I could be reading too much into it, though.

They are the same bungie is supporting old games everywhere as is zenimax. Until we see a new big game from bungie on the xbox same thing. Its funny a new minecraft is coming day and date on Playstation.
Bungie actually published what they were going to do on their website, and no where did they say Xbox would be omitted. It is not exactly the same.

I can't believe Microsofts deceit in using Bloodborn as an example of a third party developed exclusive instead of labelling it as a First Party Game worked!

Is there no Justice here!? Is this what the world has come to!? I'm cancelling my subscription to Office right now, and you bet my Zune is going on Ebay.

No, literally. The maths was wrong. MS highlighted it in their response to the provisional findings, the CMA have just acknowledged the error in detail in their addendum. How? Don't ask me. You'd think this would be double and triple checked before publication.

they'll just wait until after it's closed just like they did with Zenimax when before the acquisition completed it was all vague statements about not taking games away from others & "case by case" basis then as soon as it was through bam everything's exclusive

That's my assumption as well.

I find it bizarre that any regulator would suddenly trust them on their word considering their history, both recent and more distant, but the U-turn on their conclusion has been so sudden and abrupt that it suggests something has happened behind the scenes to cause it.

Well, Sony are within their rights to say no if they wish, so there's that. Depends on how stubborn Jim Ryan wants to be about it.

Microsoft say it will damage the value of the acquisition and IP if they were to remove playstation from the equation moving forward so there is the possibility that Sony will decide to see what kind of impact it would have.

"You see, we need SEGA because Sony has 98% market share in Japan! The only way we can compete is to buy SEGA, a Japanese company".
You see, I thought it was NCL that had over 90% of the Japanese market.. I'll expect the SEGA deal done by next Wednesday!!!

Can MS negotiate a deal with Sony now so the next couple Call of Duty games come to Game Pass if Sony gets a 10 yr deal? Or atleast CoD 2024 on Game Pass? Certainly they are in a better negotiating position now and it doesnt seem like the CMA/EU are requiring the 10 yr deal.

I really want Diablo 4 and Overwatch 2 PVE on Game Pass.

You should reach out to the CMA, tell them to read your previous posts in this thread where you've already explained all of that, and say they're arguing in bad faith because they didn't agree with your conclusions.

If Sony didn't moneyhat Superman, things could have been different.

Not necessary. Considering the situation between PS4 and Xbox One, it was possible that there were not contract but Sony asked for some parity or whatever. You have to keep in mind that PS4 had old version of Minecraft for quite some time and even got PSVR version. But anyway, Minecraft - just like TESO for example - was updated and supported for years. It is pretty plausible that Microsoft decided to keep Minecraft multiplatform by themselves (and it paid off with it becoming that huge at this point).

Anyway, CMA concluded that nothing of it is important anyway.

Not gonna say I told you so, because I am an adult. But I will be here for all the back pedaling and meltdowns lol. Man this site is about to become a fucking war-zone.
Steady on, they'll be gloating from some fruit cakes who take this win for MS as a personal victory and then we'll all move on to the next one (PS6 vs NeXtbox tech speculation thread when?)
