KoToR 2 Switch Restoration Mod CANCELED

Aspyr issued the statement. Apparently you get a free code for another star wars game on switch. Thats something I guess (Republic Commando it is then). Also KoToR remake is probably as dead as that Prince of Persia remake. Sony picked a winner here.

Bad news. On the topic of other Star Wars games, what I'd do for the original BattleFront II complete with online on Switch. Why is that literally one of the only games not to receive a port?

Yeah, people have the right to be upset, that's a pretty big expectation to just get pulled away randomly. I guess at least they're offering keys to something else, it's not the same at all, but it's SOMETHING.

It's not specific to gaming, but don't buy anything based on promised. Only buy based on feature immediately available.
so many company doesn't fulfill their promises.

I keep finding the corporate jargon these apology "letters" employ funnier each time.

Let's thank them one more time and shove the cancellation in between but in really, really soft terms. They'll barely notice right!?

Running an online service for large player numbers (especially with the old Gamespy service roots, which i have heard can be difficult to replace) is a challenge for a little quick-port office like Aspyr. Little P2P online match-ups, okay, but 64p lobbies and dedicated servers is an issue. There's a PC audience still trying to do it (GOG sells it and has some of the online systems intact if players host a server,) but it's an iffy situation. (If a Switch release could crossplay with PC then maybe there could be more support for a bit, but again, iffy.)

But yeah, I could see this could have worked out as a hit on Switch if it had ever happened. I had an idea way back in the day that EA should have released classic SWBF2 (or gotten maybe Rebellion to do a remix on their PSP version of the engine) on Switch back when they were doing their own Dice Battlefronts and couldn't bring them to the blooming Switch. Didn't happen, and now it's kind of too late.

Lot of weird development hell going on in the industry today, but then that's always been a thing.

Aspyr are fucking awful. Those Jedi Knight games on Switch were as basic as they get. Controls were fucking garbage too. My expectations for KOTOR Remake would not have been good.

That's something else considering the Switch version of KOTOR 2 also can't be completed without downloading a patch.

Edit: in case anyone who's wondering about what I mean....

And this is the team people were hyped over for a KotoR remake? Lmao. Thank fucking GOD I think KotoR II without the mods is still an amazing game. Maybe patch a few of the issues like the bugs though? That'd be nice.

Is Aspyr the company that hired a woman to write the remake of KOTOR 2 where she claims she didn't even like the original KOTOR 2?

Enough with the KotOR remakes. Give us a proper sequel!
