Still waiting for the meltdowns promised when the CMA dropped the console SLC and everyone and their mother tought the deal would go trough... but until now we could only see xbox crazy fanboys been banned, xbox fans running from the thread to reeee and never coming back, and an infinity amount of xbox fan alternatives accounts been burned ...

Maybe this time the promised meltdowns will happen...

In the meltdown stakes, surely this deal going being blocked is better value?

I mean in favor of the deal you've got

1) Xbox fanboys - already perhaps the most toxic group of platform warriors around. I think we will see death threats, war threats, PS destruction with various implements, threats of exclusivity and more acquisitions of everything and general shitstorm. Those account suicides would be a sight to behold.

2) Social justice warriors and wokees who are convinced that Bobby will be gone and ABK employees will be received into an LGBTQ-blah communist Nirvana under MS. Their outrage when a government agency that is supposedly supporting them, doesn't go down this path will lead to many triggered moments.

3) A mixture of 1 + 2 over at Ree. I mean Ree has long been ridiculed here. Thats the forum that has banned Hogwarts legacy from being mentioned. Its moderators are on MS payroll, and the acquisition thread over there is like a vigil this week. Everyday people demanding what is taking the judge so long to agree with them. For what are supposed to be an erudiate, liberal educated bunch, why none of them can manage to read a bit about the law and legal process is a wonder..

4) MS execs themselves who already threatened the UK with armageddon and judging by the internal emails that have circulated are also a mix of 1 + 2 above.

5) Lulu! Probably.

6) Videogame advertisers! I think they like to call themselves journalists but come on, this isn't watergate. Tommy Warren, Jez … whatever… in fact the list of xbox advertisers masquerading as journalists is quite long. Anyway, I'm not on Twitter but their blow ups and bye byes would be legendary too. The spin would be fun to watch. Is this actually good for Xbox!? (It would be but that's not their current line).

EDIT to add

7) How could I forget the dearly departed SoloKingFlorian, SenjitsuSage - they are already convinced the world is out to just get them. I guess psychological disorders aren't a laughing matter but as an onlooker they sure are a spectacle. Then there's Colteatswood and klobraille. Its funny how I know the names of these guys just from reposts of their stupidity here, but couldn't name a single equivalent from any other platform.

Stack that pile up against those opposing the acquisition on rational grounds who will tut, mumble about what the world is coming to and move on. Sony is a company that doesn't set itself out on the court of public opinion.

There isn't really a passion argument against this merger - its just rational to oppose it for various reasons.

Supporting the acquisition is a passion argument - and the passionate tend to explode more energetically.

Yes.

I don't remember whereabouts but that has happened in this thread. Also, when some take it too far and get permed, they log directly into their alt account. The mods spot this, and perm the second account under "alt evasion" or something like that. Which further reveals the account switching 'Conversation with myself behaviour.'
When you want to see how many ALT's has been banned the last 2 months i advice you to look at the official Neogaf bansite, i swear your socks are blowing of your feet in a milisecond😉

Thats the thing.. people (and by people I mean xbox fans) that see meltdowns here in the horizon from sony fans think this deal is all about MS vs Sony ... they have failed to see all this time and continue to do so that is not about that .. is about MS vs Regulatory agencies that are trying to measure the weight of this acquisition for market / consumers

Sony can do whatever the fuck they want to protect their interests but is not about them

So of course we have some people cheering against because "muh box" , but in general is people who are against for several other reasons, been mass consolidation, the prospect of a service only future , general changes in the market not directly correlated to playstation/sony

And this is why until now we did only see real meltdowns from xbox fans because for them is all about the WIN for their box and/or the utopian stupid notion that they will get cheap/free AAA great games forever on gamepass

And by the way winning this PI trial means jackshit since the loss for the FTC was alaways expected and the real obstacle always was and continues to be the CMA and overthere the deal is blocked and this aint changing any time soon.

People who support this deal don't enjoy games.

Yeah when he wants to see when this "discussion" has gone wacky i advice him to go back to the day in the thread when the CMA blocked the merger.
I swear..the Hell broke open in this thread after that..and it is still going on😉

Yeah, but yesterday we had folks talking about Apple buying Sony and Sony spinning off SIE if this deal goes through. That's some wacky shit right there.

Looking at the legal standards for granting a preliminary injunction, I find it hard to believe the judge won't grant it because the threshold is relatively low and tips in the FTC's favor. See a 2021 District Court memo for a merger case which discusses the legal standards for granting PI, particularly pages 10-11. Apologies if this has already been referenced as an example.

Even without the Matt Booty "Spend Sony out of Business" e-mail, only a fanatic would suggest that there isn't a decent (not high) probability competition will be lessened; that lessened competition could even come in the form of Xbox investing less resources into first party games because the pressure of landing third party deals is significantly reduced with Activision under their ownership.

I've seen alot of people on twitter (though not so much here, thankfully) equate a potential PI grant to the courts formally blocking the deal, which of course isn't true. The PI of course just places a hold on the merger and allows the FTC to subsequently make their case in court. Yes, a PI grant will effectively dead the deal because Activision (or was it Microsoft?) said they would more than likely abandon the deal. But that is Activision/Microsoft choice, and would/should have no impact on the judge's timing and/or ultimate ruling.
The US doesn't really block vertical mergers, at least not in decades. Idk that Sony made their look at more likely to win than average.

As far as creating a monopoly, that's for sure a no.

I could still see her saying fight it out in court to them tho. That would effectively kill the deal but she might not take that into account.

It's true that a P.I wouldn't stop the deal from happening. Microsoft could choose to fight the FTC and if they win they can buy ABK. Same with a successful appeal process.

It certainly is possible for them to continue fighting for ABK. But the real question is do they really want to. Especially ABK since I don't believe they want to extend unless Microsoft offers something big in return.
Why do we all insist on forgetting about the CMA?

Full on insider trading lol.
It's only okay when they do it.

On a side note, remember when Phil helped manipulate the Activision stock prices less than 2 months before the announcement of the purchase to the public when he said he found the Activision news "deeply troubled" and that they would "evaluate all aspects of their relationship." We all forget that little nugget for his bros to buy the impacted stock lower at a 5-10% drop after the article date.

Even though at the time he made that statement, they were well into already a merger agreement and filing the SEC docs in November 2021.

November 18th, 2021 this was published (in their go-to publication this entire process that houses their shill)

Stock drops between 5-10% in that timeframe (we even talked about the stock dip after Phil's comments in the Activision controversy thread, GHG GHG brought it up, I believe.)

SEC filing with November 19th, 2021 dates

He's talking about the CMA when he references the appeal process

Is it a reward when you buy yourself something? Typically a reward comes from someone else.
You're almost there.

But they can't buy them after no P.I. and operate in the UK legally as it stands. If said decision comes before any appeal process starts. It won't be a good look snubbing your nose at the appeal process before it even happens.

To be fair we wont see the real meltdowns until this whole thing comes to a conclusion...whatever the conclusion may be. everything until then is just...the game in motion. The FTC and CMA situations are still ongoing and giving this thread life. until those situations are resolved in full, we wont see the real meltdowns.

Thats fair ... but I think those expecting big meltdowns from the approval of this deal are going to be really disappointed... but thats just my opinion/guess

Seems to me like this is something that you're hoping to see outside of actual reality. The "meltdowns" won't come from the long time members and engagements in here. It will be throwaway accounts like it has been every other week.

Agreed.

I stopped reading at "Xbox fanboys - already perhaps the most toxic group " .....says it all, about where your head is at. sorry.

Im just gonna say..... I guess we'll have to wait and see then, wont we?..... 'Time is the master' as they say....

1300 pages of people telling us why this deal has to be stopped?....thats a lot of effort for people to just suddenly go quiet over, and move on? ...but we will see.

There has been discussion both for and against the acquisition in these 1300 pages. Only those who are emotionally invested in this thing are the ones expecting/hoping to see meltdowns. They are projecting.

Reality? the deal either does or doesnt go through. end of. It effect me neither way.

Hope? thats a strong word in this case.....too strong perhaps. I just think it would be funny, given how much effort has gone into hoping this deal will fail on here. for me.....Im just tired of paying for COD every year, just for the sake of my friends who play anything else. thats all Ill get out of this deal personally. If it fails...cool...guess Im still paying 70 bucks every year except when they put out a WW2 themed COD.

We'll see...because some of them have been the most active in here...put the most energy into it.... When people put a lot of energy into something and it doesnt go their way...they can be pretty vocal..... But I guess it depends on how much you care in the first place.

You really are working overtime to will this narrative™ into existence.
I have no skin in the game.
... but it would be so cool to see the meltdown.

This acquisition doesn't affect me at all and I'm not hoping for anything.
... But it'd be "funny" to see the acquisition pass through.

Some people have spent way too much time on this.
... I've been pushing this 'meltdown' narrative for the last 3 pages consistently.

You're not fooling anyone. No matter how you try and dance around your ad nauseum meltdown™ repeating the past 2-3 pages.

The PlayStation fan meltdowns happened when the acquisition was announced. There were none when the EC approved, and there were none when the CMA dropped console concerns.

Warriors hoping to feed on that same energy again are wasting their time. In fact they are only making it really hard on themselves should the merger be blocked.

It's projection rooted in fear that the deal isn't going to go through.

Hence, the "it does not really matter to me" to account for that.

You guys really going to be calm?! If this deal goes through I'm gonna meltdown like fucking Chernobyl. I'll post a TikTok of me taking a diarrhea dookie into the vents of my series X while screaming fuck your Phil and greenie!!!

they'll celebrate for a bit and then immediately start talking about who Xbox should acquire next (Sega)

frankly that's one of the reasons I oppose this, I wasn't happy about Zenimax but they were looking to sell & fine Xbox now has more studios than Nintendo or Sony so let them make games like they did during their first decade in the console market

instead they flat out said they had no intention of stopping even with ABK even though their studio management has been abysmal with their existing stable of studios
