I actually do

Their early work was a little too new wave for my tastes, but when Sports came out in '83,I think they really came into their own, commercial and artistically. The whole album has a clear, crisp sound, and a new sheen of consimante professionalism that really gives the songs a big boost. He's been compared to Elvis Costello, but I think Huey has a far much more bitter, cynical sense of humour.

In '87, Huey released Fore, their most accomplished album. I think their undisputed masterpiece is "Hip to be Square", a song so catchy, most people probably don't listen to the lyrics. But they should, because it's not just about the pleasures of conformity, and the importance of trends, it's also a personal statement about the band itself.

Exactly I'm not sure why so many idiots on this website are still opposed to this deal, you get a stronger more competitive Xbox and a Sony that will have to start taking some risk's in order to stay on top, like if they feel so threatened by Microsoft owning Call of Duty they could just you know revive they're old classics like Killzone, Resistance,Mag and Socom in order to become competitive in the FPS genre again, also after the ABK deal ( if it's approved which I bet it will be ) the eye's of all regulators in the world will be on Microsoft to make sure they can't a acquire another jaggaurnaut like EA or Take Two, meanwhile no one will be able to complain if Sony starts buying major player's like Square Enix or Konami not after they're biggest competitor bought the largest third party publisher in the world, it's a win win for everyone.

None of this makes a lick of sense. Its utterly asinine.

Getting ABK does not make Xbox more competitive. On the console front, they gain absolutely nothing that they don't already have access to already. If they wanted exclusive deals they could easily outbid Sony by dipping into that $70b war-chest they have for the merger. Outside of consoles Sony are just another publisher, they aren't operating proprietary services on PC or Mobile, so they will be completely unaffected outside of MS strengthening their own walled-garden,

As Sony have pointed out already, they aren't going to give advance devkits to publishers/developers that are owned by their direct competition. Effectively ensuring that Activision will be disadvantaged against competing third-parties like EA, Ubi, and Take2 into the future.

Contrary to what you argue, this doesn't incentivize Sony to re-direct internal resources to cover for any gaps caused by Activision's absence, instead it behooves them to lock down other third-party properties and enter into co-promotional agreements prejudicial to Xbox. Deals that these third-parties will welcome as they will be under no illusions that their products will find themselves in competition with MS owned properties on MS owned platforms and services.

The end-result will job losses and instability within the industry, less choice for consumers, and this is all because MS are frightened of having to deal with any real competition in the (as yet unproven) cloud-gaming space.

As shown in the transcripts, Sony are the only ones that MS feel could put together a viable competitor for xcloud (which is funny as Sony completely lack the infrastructural component) which is why they are pursuing a policy of trying to starve them of content.

Twitter is an absolute goldmine right now 😄

We are straight up asking God to intervene now 🤣
Even God has no jurisdiction over the blessed CMA.

German I'm guessing.

I care about your grammar because you are calling people idiots.

I wasn't attempting to present an argument against your statement, I was asking you a question.
Fine your right I shouldn't have called people idiots, after I read my own post i realized it was to excessive and was gonna delete that part but the GAF Informed me that the time to edit the post was over ( wtf is up with that only 5 min to edit a post, on Reddit i could edit my own post's whenever the hell I damm well pleased )

It's to make new members easier to ban. That way you can't hide what you said with edits.

How is Xbox not as popular in non English speaking countries? All the posters here where English isn't their first language love Xbox.
Your not wrong actually, in my country Portugal PlayStation has a 90% plus market share, I'm one of the few that ever gave Xbox a chance, even convinced two other friends to buy the system ( one bought an S the other the X ), I've only just now this month bought my first PS5 after Sony decided to discount the system from the 1st to the 15th of July, just finished Astro Playroom and not gonna lie loved every minute of it, better than all the boring triple A movie games Sony has been constantly churning out since the last of us which is what made me switch to Xbox from 2018 up to now to begin with, Demon soul's remake is next once I get some more money next month, until then I'll be playing my old games.

Nah.
MS getting ABK puts all their games like COD etc day 1 into gamepass. That will absolutely increase GP uptake and will influence people to get an Xbox.
They also by default get marketing right of those games. Games outside COD will most likely be exclusive to Xbox.

Sony holding back dev kits will only hurt Sony, meaning their versions of games won't exploit their console. Sony having poorer performance on COD will have more detrimental cost to Sony, and why you think that would help Take Two I have no idea.

On top of that it's horseshit that it would hurt their hurt them if MS had one of their dev kits.
99% of the tech in the consoles is AMD owned and open to both companies, and the tech that is Sony's would be covered by patents.
Both Sony and MS would have to be pretty dumb to think that the other party didn't have a really good idea of what the other was doing.
Both companies are refrained by the exact same thing, heat and price.

No it won't because I have no intention of insulting anyone again, I was just confused why so many people on this site in particular oppose this deal so much, I don't see this level of opposition on Reddit, Twitter or YouTube only here, maybe that's why I got a bit to heated against my better judgement.

If you spend most of your time in an echo chamber, of course you cannot develop criticsl thinking skills.

We're 8 days away from the contract end date.

No rumors that the board is renegotiating.
Maybe they are, but maybe Activision asking for 100B which turn M$ off.

After Diablo IV and MW2 Activision shares rise more steadily. I think investors confident it could reach even higher than the proposed buyout price.

I have no doubts that if the judge doesn't rule tomorrow Florian is going to start calling her incompetent or paid by Sony or some shit. I hope it happens because it'd be hilarious.

Weird way to treat your friends
They love rpgs and racing games making Xbox the perfect machine for them, I simply told them if they we're tired of interactive movie game slop like I was then go buy an Xbox for Forza, gamepass and more rpgs than you would even have time to play in a year (especially with backwards compatibility allowing you to play classics like dragon age origins, fable, oblivion and Morrowind which is something that Sony with it's awfull backwards compatibility doesn't allow you to do).

Ah yes there is nothing else than interactive movies on PS

Not much that old hardcore fans that grew up with playstation since the PS2 day's like us really care about ( until very recently ), rachet and clank wasn't good from a crack in time up until a rift appart, Killzone hasn't been good since the og trilogy (shadow fall was one the biggest disappointments I ever experienced in two decades of gaming), Resistance and Socom are nowhere to be found, Buzz has been dead since the PS3, Sly Cooper died on the Vita I mean do I even need to go on, there is no denying that after Sony smelled that uncharted money all they wanted to do was to make more and more generic big budget Hollywood style interactive movie games instead of real games that the hardcore fans cared about, that's why I walked away from playstation since the first half of the PS4 generation and only came back last week since the PS5 is finally showing some promise.

Can't even imagine the horror of playing Morrowind on Xbox.

This has been my thinking for a couple weeks now. That ABK's major shareholders have renewed confidence in the company's ability to raise its share price back into the 90 to 100 dollar range it was at before all their legal troubles. The company is in a very different position now than it was 18 months ago. Even before the deal was announced, their stock price was stabilizing. After the CMA blocked the deal, the share price only dropped by $10, still well higher than they were pre-deal announcement, and then went up again.

I also think Kottick is planning a series of investments and acquisitions with the $12 billion the company currently has. The plan may well be to let the deal die and focus on growing Activision further. He already mentioned a while back that annual Call of Duty releases may no longer be their path forward, as there were indications that the franchise's growth trajectory was shrinking. Activision itself may need some fresh, big IP to shore up a possible future where Call of Duty can no longer single-handedly bring in the money the Activision portion of the company wants. It may also be in their interest to expand if they do indeed plan on bringing games to Nintendo.

If negotiations have happened and a deal wasn't reached, it's likely, as you said, that their shareholders demanded a price well in excess of what Microsoft is willing to spend. Which also would include a larger failure fee than the current $3 billion. An outcome that is a very real possibility considering the difficulty in overturning a CMA decision. Especially over an acquisition. Certainly one of such magnitude that could have significant consequences.

Though, of course, I say this and within 5 minutes breaking news will happen that an extension agreement was reached. :messenger_squinting_tongue:

I love how they always rant about PS platform like we don't know any of that.

It won't help the merger campaign and sure nobody will bother to reply

Which consumers are you talking about?
For Xbox consumers they get more games added into Gamepass, which boosts the value of their subscription service.

Xbox game studios, including Bethesda and Xbox, will be able to leverage all the tech from each studios to improve their graphics and engine tech.

It will mean that MS will be able to bring some of the existing, dormant Activision IPs and farm them out to their other studios, and through Xbox Global Publishing, bring third party studios in to make some of those games.

With the addition of those ABK IPs, it can allow for crossovers of them in future games. Crash all star racing with all the other MS IPs.

There are very few companies on the planet who can afford to buy a company the size of ABK, and then also invest in those studios and grow them even bigger.

For an Xbox consumer there are alot of benefits from the aquisition, and at the end of the day, it's only what helps Xbox consumers. There is no requirement for Xbox to provide benefits to Sony's consumers.
The same question you posed could be posed to every single aquisition.
What benefit did consumers get from Dony buying Bungie?

It's actually great since Microsoft added fps boost and Xbox enhancement features, if you don't believe me watch some videos on YouTube.

No, thanks. OpenMW can be played on any potato PC / Mac device and offers vastly superior experience. You have to be some kind of Xbox freak to subject yourself to playing Morrowind there.

I wonder how many times you can work in the phrase "movie games" in your posts.
How else would you describe uncharted ( after the third ) last of us, detroit become human, the new norse god of war game's, the horizon games and the order 1886, do any of these games remind you of the good old days of the PS1 to the PS3 generation, because they're the reason I walked away for so long from playstation, honestly after I finished Astro Playroom I almost shed a tear, that game reminded me of so many good childhood memories and why I loved playstation growing up in the 2000s.

What? How the fuck does Xbox getting COD on gamepass not make them more competitive? I can't even tell if your other text has any logic in it when you lead with that.

Nah.
MS getting ABK puts all their games like COD etc day 1 into gamepass. That will absolutely increase GP uptake and will influence people to get an Xbox.

Doing that will financially cripple ABK. The reality is that CoD as it stands currently has an exceptionally lucrative monetization system. They get people to pay full AAA rrp up-front then make even more money via season passes and MTX. Take away the up-front buy in, and its basically F2P. And if you are going for that model you want the largest addressable market possible. Not to mention they already have a F2P offering in Warzone.

This will not grow CoD as a franchise, it will diminish it greatly.

There are no better ways to increase GP uptake and promote Xbox than this ? For $70billion, Seriously ?

They also by default get marketing right of those games. Games outside COD will most likely be exclusive to Xbox.

They get all the reward but get to take all the risk also. A risk magnified by the fact that money from GP subscriptions is per user, so unless you think there's no overlap in the interest groups for say CoD and Crash Bandicoot, there are inbuilt diminishing returns the more titles added to the service.

Sony holding back dev kits will only hurt Sony, meaning their versions of games won't exploit their console. Sony having poorer performance on COD will have more detrimental cost to Sony, and why you think that would help Take Two I have no idea.

Publishers have no incentive to compete against platform holders, they compete against other publishers. If they can offer something that their rivals cannot, its obviously in their interest to leverage that. Be it by taking lucrative co-marketing deals or receiving technical support from a platform holder.

At the end of the day they want to build their brands, and in so doing shift more units and make more money. The Bobby Kotick's of the world don't play favourites, they only care about the bottom line.

On top of that it's horseshit that it would hurt their hurt them if MS had one of their dev kits.

Both companies are refrained by the exact same thing, heat and price.

You are really showing your ignorance when it comes to thinking that either party would willingly share proprietary secrets in the years and months leading to launch. Not to mention offer them hardware samples and technical support!

I think ABK are pretty annoyed that they let Take2 snoop Zynga when ABK are in talk with M$.

I can see that. It would have given them a crushing lead in the Western mobile market. Globally, it would have allowed them to leapfrog over Garena. Only NetEase and Tencent would be larger. Though both of them would still have been massive by comparison. There are some companies out there they could target, but yeah, nothing like what Zynga could have done for them. CyberAgent would be huge, too. Though I suspect Sony is eyeballing them right now.

Betting time. Who'll get permed first. You or me. Let's go

Clearly some of you don't have the maturity to listen to an opposing view, but fine if that's what you want then pls just keep pretending that anyone who thinks this deal is good for gaming or has problems with what games Sony prioritizes making these days is just a blind Xbox fanboy, it really helps make your side look sane and rational

Please come back when you get another script. It is not funny anymore, just sad.

That wasn't a rational argument. That was you regurgitating the same old fanboyish talking points used to peg PlayStation as a company that sucks at games. With a cringe cherry on top about how you cried about it.

If you spend most of your time in an echo chamber, of course you cannot develop criticsl thinking skills.
"Echo chamber" if the overwhelming majority of gamers on every major platform ( reddit, twitter and YouTube) are pro the deal and the only people I've seen going majority against it are the people on this thread then who is really spending most of they're time on an echo chamber?

First post ever, only attracted by this thread, of course defending the acquisition, first thing you do is calling people idiots.
Don't you guys realize that this script has become tired and obvious.
You can make 1000 accounts, if you can't behave properly the ending result will always be the same.
