I only care about the toxic gamepass stuff I could care less if they are exclusive to xbox consoles. Given that I dont see how you can have confidence in xbox after seeing what they have done to thier mascot series with Halo...

They literally let thier Mario die.

Does this mean MS will fix OW2

It's weird that there was at one point, back in the e3 glory days. A kind of big 6 3rd party publishers: Take2, ea, Bethesda, square, Activision and ubisoft. Publishers so large they could carry their own shows with ease and had the large amount of studios to back that up.

Msoft now owns 2 of the 6.
And they need one more(t2 before gta or ea(soccer game)) and it is over.

Sony is already going to spin-off their financial arm to fund purchases

So yeah, acquisitions are coming.

Better or worse, Sony isn't going to wait while MS buys Bethesda and Activision.

Bungie was small potatoes in comparison
Exactly. I don't understand why some people wants Sony to sit around on their thumb when Microsoft is buying up huge chunks of the industry.

It always comes down to some weirds shit like how about principal, how about they said they want to grow organically...lol

Like who gives a fuck what was said before about organic growth and principles when the new rules of the game was forced upon you when your competitor just spent 70 billions on Activision after buying up Zenimax for 7 billions.

Wow.

Game over.
As I said earlier, a delay pushes an appeal back, giving the CMA more time to get counsel available that can argue the substance from in depth knowledge - which they were recently denied that basic fair option by the CAT because it was unfair to the transaction.

What easy structural remedies do you think the CMA will accept?

Microsoft don't want to lose that $3b for nothing, so they'll now maybe concede to things just to avoid looking like they lost $3b of shareholders' money, and save face by getting the acquisition done.

The CMA has no viable climbdown - unless they know what OFCOM has coming for cloud regulation in the UK - without looking like they are corrupt, or not worth the taxpayer money for their regulator quango. I don't see them backing down enough to make this the win Microsoft want.

Namely a guarantee in writing for COD for x years on PS. Something about cloud gaming.

This whole process has been weird, filled with major changes of face seemingly out of nowhere

I wouldn't be surprised if CMA flip flops and accepts minor concessions

Microsoft and the CMA have agreed on a small divestiture to address the regulator's concerns, CNBC's David Faber reported.

What is the something small that could be divested realistically?

If the UK was a state in the U.S. it would be in the bottom 5 in terms of GDP. Somewhere down there with Mississippi. They lost a lot of bargaining power when they left the EU.

I wouldn't underestimate Microsoft's appetite to play hard ball or to pull out of the UK completely if the CMA is being demonstrably unreasonable. Especially when all of these other governing bodies approved. What does the CMA do then besides look toothless?

What's the downside? The UK may be a big hardware market for XBOX. but they've told you all you've needed to know about their feelings re: hardware in the last few weeks.
UK GDP would actually be #2 behind California and is top 5 in the world currently

I'll believe it when it's actually announced, these 'reporters' have been wrong about so many things during this roller coaster ride

So....

From the number of pages that have been posted since this morning.... clearly something changed... or you're all just really fucking bored...

What's the latest?

UK needs Microsoft more than Microsoft needs UK.
Dear oh dear. I've read some nonsense in my time.... Yeah we're a humble, meek, poor third world country that hangs on every word of Brad tosser chops Smiths words, whilst worshipping every bit of P Spencer's faux charm. Just so we can enjoy Windows and play Xbox. We just couldn't begin to imagine a country without MS in it. 🙄

perhaps no xcloud in the uk. licensing only. a way for the CMA to save face.

I think I agree with this now. One decent size move - EA for sure, T2 likely but not as certain - is probably a knock out blow for PS as a first party at least - it may even relegate Nintendo to a pure mobile or third party publisher.

It's difficult to see how it could be avoided - this precedent makes anything and everyone open for sale.

I think the next generation of hardware releases has just gotten very far away. Sony as a minimum will be very wary of putting the time and effort into new custom hardware when there is a real chance it will flop because major 3P IPs aren't available on it.

Nintendo and whatever comes after Switch is probably close to release already - they almost need to rush that out now before everyone is locked up behind MS's walls.
This is not about generations anymore.

Future of gaming is cloud and renting. Nvidia and MS will enforce that.

Playstation doesn't have money to compete. The only way is if a big tech buy them or a jv with one of them. Jap gov is not stupid they will not let main Sony business just goes down in a dramatic situation they will allow a buyout to preserve jobs.

We need to understand these moves are not about the present. It is about the future. MS wants to consolidate rnough to force cloud and renting model(gamepass).

Nvidia making on premisse gpus really expensive is a goal to force pc gamers into cloud. They dob't want sell gpus anymore they don't care. They care about cloud.

Sony lost time and was blind on the wrong strategy.

But people will say ps5 is selling a lot. Because people has short term vision and think this is about consoles or present.

Xbox shutting down xCloud in the UK probably. Garbage business to be in anyways tbh.

MS specifically mentioned that Sony is the only one who can compete with them. So your already wrong with that statement.

Well, what a roller coaster, what a ride! Never was so many people at GAF so wrong in so many things. l would have never imagined this was going to turn this way after reading so many GAF dissertations on the deal death. 😂

Now let's concentrate on the new MS acquisitions. Capcom or Sega? Ubi?
