It was never 10 years of COD + 5 years of all activision titles.

The 5 years of all titles was a previous offer that Sony declined.

Like I said in my post above, hell of a decision. I'm sure Jim banked on this deal not going through. Perhaps after the 5 year deal, MS tried to renegotiate it being a 10 year CoD deal without everything else, since it seemed that's what Jim was mostly concerned about. We have been hearing about the 10 year deal for Playstation for eons.

Still, I would be really hard-pressed to believe that Microsoft would've kept that cash cow of a game off of Playstation. Yeah, Microsoft might've went for some advantages with content maybe coming a bit early like Sony's marketing deal, but in order to keep CoD guaranteed on your system for 10 more years vice all of Activision games for your base for 5 years while you try to work out a CoD competitor perhaps. I don't know. If it's it's all about the money you obviously go after CoD, but keeping all Activision games + future games for 5 years would've been a good deal for the non-CoD diehards.

Ah well. Business is business.

but...they were not the ones in charge of "preventing" the acquisition. Regulators were (analyzing this acquisition to figure out possible anticompetitive anti-consumer effects). and this pressure is the one that force MS to make 10 year deals for everyone.

that is the reality. Now...in the fan Fiction of fanboys, this is not just an "L" but a massive humiliation, sony is done, xbox is back and the console warz is over.

Let's be honest here, Microsoft only bought Activision for COD. We won't be seeing Diablo 5 for like 10 years, and Crash or whatever won't give us a new one before 2027.

Yeah and they'll keep fucking up when they let MS keep acquiring more publishers and studios. There is no place for an independent Sony after MS also owns T2, EA, Ubisoft, and Embracer. They must either sunset PlayStation or try to get acquired by someone as big as MS is that will acquire publishers and studios before MS does.

I think this idea that somehow Sony dropped the ball on getting ABK game besides CoD is silly, all things considered.

So, MAYBE a Crash Bandicoot game if Toys For Bob isn't kept in the CoD sweat shop. The last two mainline Diablo games took 10+ years to release. You're definitely not getting another in 5 years. Assuming Overwatch even gets a sequel, you're not getting another then either. That Blizzard survival game, assuming it isn't canceled? Like, what was lost here?

They will probably not get the Diablo IV expansion. It's going to be uncomfortable with the base game Diablo IV on PS but no expansions but this is the world regulators wanted I guess
