It doesn't though. There is no end date on the deal as far as I can see, just points where the compensation for walking away changes. It means no contract for acquisition will exist between the two.

My point about xbox's future takes into account their purchase of Bethesda\Zenimax. It shouldn't take more than that.

The deal was due to be completed by the end of today (Tuesday, July 18).
Now Microsoft and Activision Blizzard are talking about extending the current contract
Show me in the contract where it says that it ends today. It doesn't. Why would you refer to an article when the contract itself is publicly available?![]()

Once the above date passes the current contract would have expired. They can create a new contract or walk away.
But make no mistake the current contract expires in a bit over an hour.

Some people rent. Some people buy. In the long term buying is almost always better.
The fearmongering (whether someone truly believed that or faked it for sake of fan warrior battle point) that COD would disappear and MS would blitzkrieg the industry taking over is the dumbest thing ever. You're imposing your expectation for the narrative here. Nobody sane is expecting them to suddenly outsell PS5 or eat away large chunk of the marketshare, since there are also numerous other outside elements beyond MS's control. No reason to conform to your expectation to set up your narrative really.
Link it.

I think you're misunderstanding, it just means the current contract has expired, not that they have to start over. Extension is possible. But the deadline is end of today for the current contract prior to receiving an extension.Today's date isn't an expiration date. These are the conditions that must be met for MS and/or ABK to terminate the merger. The deal not being consummated by then end of today meats one of the conditions. That does not mean the agreement is automatically cancelled. Notice the words "may be terminated". Not "will be terminated".
Here is the relevant text from the agreement.

But did you understand mine?I understand the words that I posted very clearly.

The fat lady is still eating cake on her belly. No one has sung yet. If you'd like proof I can gladly repost that nasty picture again.Deal is officially over.
If that's the case and PS is still way ahead of Xbox even with activision then what's the big deal? And sony has another 10 years of COD, so what else does Activision have that is so powerful under MS control it's going to unfairly beat PS?I never said the bolded. You all are implying that extra piece. The last generation it was 67%-33% (PlayStation 4 and Xbox One). The market share for Xbox Series can't be the same this time around. And it better not be worse than that. It'll be embarrassing if it's worse than that 2 to 1-margin. If MS can get it down to 60%-40% in the console space, that would be an outstanding job for them.
Not sure how that's some crazy expectation.
But did you understand mine?
Once the contract expires either party are free to walk away at anytime, OR their will be no lawfully binding document holding them together.
Does that make sense?
1 hour to go!
Because the current contract would have expired. You are just phrasing it wrong though. In one hour, Microsoft or ABK will be free to terminate the merger agreement. That's what it says.
And that goes in every boardroom.I mean, in 2019 Matt Booty literally said he wanted to "Spend Sony Out of Business" in an internal email.
So, with all due respect, I wouldn't consider it "fear mongering" for fans of the others in the industry to be concerned about their futures as XBOX buys massive publishers at alarming rates at which unseen in modern gaming history.
Because the current contract would have expired.
Why would they need to extend the contract then, if not for it expiring? No, because what I'm saying is what the termination clause says. It says nothing about any contract "expiring". You are using your own words and not what is in the agreement.
I'm not going to try to explain it any further. Read the merger agreement.
Because the current contract would have expired.

If this has any basis, the court wouldn't have grant them the win.
100%... What you're seeing now is BS spin after the balloon burst of it not being taken off of PlayStation. The 10 year deal keeps Microsoft from using it as leverage as well. That's not what people were hoping for.I mean, in 2019 Matt Booty literally said he wanted to "Spend Sony Out of Business" in an internal email.

This deal has so many twists and what ifs and how did that happen etcCinderella time….. 45 min to go.
Who is saying unfairly beat PS? I said if I'm Microsoft execs I'd be expecting the last 3 years of purchases to make the Xbox brand clearly better than it was. And in turn that should help Xbox win back some market share (40% Xbox Series to 60% PS5) and increase Gamepass numbers to 40 million by the end of this generation.
You don't spend $80 Billion to stand in place.
I'm always up late so this is just icing on the cake lolAny of you guys waiting up till midnight to see if Phil Spencer and Bobby Kotick are going to turn into a couple of pumpkins are going to be waiting a while.
