So does Topher. Only difference is I paid $53 less.

Microsoft send you free gamepass coupons?

Huh? It can absolutely make them some money. You can make money without making the most possible. 120-180 bucks per year, charge for DLC add-ons until they are old. Probably sell an extra controller every few years. It is going to be like Netflix where the price keeps going up and they will probably find a way to create a higher tier. I'd pay 20 for it on PC if they can keep some games on it, but I will unsub when I need to focus on games on the other platforms like right now where I have FFXVI and Diablo on PS5. I can see them doing a Prime like thing where it is cheaper by the year than monthly to prevent people like me from flipping the switch.Gamepass is value destructive and can't possibly make Microsoft money whilst simultaneously extracting as much money from it's users as possible.
They represent all customers in the high-end console market that incur harm from the acquisition, just like the Zenimax deal.
And you've also got nothing to show for except "Were sorry, you need the product to run this content".So does Topher. Only difference is I paid $53 less.

Reread what you wrote. When Bobby Kotick and other publishers talk about Gamepass being value destructive, he's not talking about the value for consumers. He's talking about his bottom line. He's talking about what value the publisher can get out of Gamepass.
The fact is people will say Gamepass isn't profitable to fit their argument then turn around and say Gamepass extracts more money from consumers than the standard business model when it suits them.
And you've also got nothing to show for except "Were sorry, you need the product to run this content".
That's the least of his worries, if he values the game he can get a physical copy or buy it cheap before it was delisted (months in advanced). Game Pass doesn't invalidate you from buying the game at a later point.
You guys are making a mountain out of a mole hill, there's much bigger problems with "lost purchases" even in premium titles like those that have their server shut down making your DLC or MTX truly worthless.

I'm feeling pretty good about my purchase.
Well if I buy the game, they're not going to revoke my game because of a time limit. I'm free to download and install it. You're only timed using rental services like Game Pass and PS+++. My DLC would work still while someone that rents has as much to show for as a PS2 memory card for a GameCube.$70-$17(Game Pass Ultimate sub.)
The hypothetical is that the license is revoked, in that case both of us would have that to show for it.
$70-$17(Game Pass Ultimate sub.)
I recently created a green alt and I'm going to make that a part of his backstory. He's signed up for GP through 2035 and he's a big Bing guy![]()

I intend to go somewhere in between. I buy games and will continue to roll that way for multiple reasons. But despite having a GP Ultimate sub until early 2024. I just use it as a demo platform now. I wont resub either when it expires. But I may periodically buy just a month, demo everything there is and drop it again. Its how I'll use PlayStation Plus pricier tears too. After I actually spend whatever several hundred hours it takes to beat Starfield and beat the game, I probably literally wont want to touch it again for at least 5 years. It will be probably $10-15 by then. It's not going to be delisted.
I think people just get scared or are too used to adding games to their library in a very methodical fashion. If that's what suits you, go for it. But at the end of the day, I usually end up owning more games than I was before.
You're paying for a service.Again, MSFT isn't pulling the wool over anyone's eyes. We can still buy the game AND for cheaper than it cost the "permanent purchasers" to buy it on day 1.
Its an honor to do so.You're paying for a service.
You're paying for the DLC.
Then you're paying for the game.
Heck, some of you are beta testing games on a service fee. Grounded was a year in there as a Game Preview. Some official releases day one arent even finished like Sea of Thieves.
Honestly, when MS has de-listed first party games (Forza mainly) they have given users with paid DLC a purchased copy of the license. Thus, this is basically a moot point anyway.
You can even find a copy of the message they send on reddit.

Nope. The CMA disagrees, hence why they paused the cat and told MS to divest their cloud gaming in the UK.it does nothing for the SLC. British businesses will be able to become dominant successful players by innovation in the world of cloud gaming the minute CoD belongs to Microsoft to exploit their resources with the IP in the rest of the world. It is pre-emptively killing their ability to compete and making the market smaller while still in nascent form. The judge has understood that clear point from the report going by the way he schooled 30-40 barristers in the CMC the other day.
Reread what you wrote.
These sub holders have to come up with creative ways to extract from every avenue as they can, because a standard flat sub fee is not sustainable. Especially when it cannibalizes sales, their words, not mine. If it becomes less and less sustainable for AAA bangers, then something has got to give, like internal docs discussing possibly removing day 1 first party, but they realize the PR fallout.
So again, something has to give, which will either impact the consumer with less AAA investment budgets, or avenues to extract out of the dum dums. Like $35 FOMO DLC packs.

Ah yes, subscription services, purveyors of such heinous money-extraction schemes such as.... Destiny 2 (oh wait).

‘Destiny 2’ May Have The Most Total Microtransactions Of Any Mainstream Game
While there is a general sense that Destiny 2 is “overmonetized” at this point, with prices creeping higher and chunks of content being sold separately, it’s also becoming about the sheer volume of what’s being sold.www.forbes.com
Why do you think Sony is chasing the GaaS trend so much?
Any chat here for a month will be pointless.anything of importance happen yet?
I've given Phil Spencer access to my bank account. He just makes transfers to himself that say, "You're welcome."Its an honor to do so.

Imagine if this thing really does drag out until October lmao
I thought things were really gonna move fast esp when the CMA was like Thursday sounds good and talking about urgency and now nothing lol
Look mum, I only played one game, out of the hundreds available, for 60 months!!! I just must be some kind of special!Ok so let's do the math (and I'll do you a favour here and select gamepass console instead of ultimate and in your view this is the "cheapest" way for you to access the game), for arguments sake let's say the game gets delisted in 5 years time. Oh and bonus points I'll freeze the price at today's price:
Vs
- $35 + (60 x $10.99) = $694.40
- A one time purchase of Forza Motorsport premium edition = $99.99
Look mum! Look! Look at how much money I'm saving with gamepass!
I just think the whole "buy DLC for a game you don't own" thing should be a fairly big "warning" on Gamepass or any sub service.
Conceptually it's up to the consumer to take the risk of not having access to something they bought at that point.

Yea but its pretty alpha to be able to show people you own dlc for a gam you cant access anymore, total flex move and lets people know your a real gamer imo.I just think the whole "buy DLC for a game you don't own" thing should be a fairly big "warning" on Gamepass or any sub service.

They already told them what they need to do. Just need it in contract. No, they didn't. Could be that is what Microsoft is proposing, but CMA said clearly they are waiting on Microsoft's proposal.
