I still like Diet Coke more than Coke Zero...

Same tbh.

I picked up one of those league of legends coke zeros the other day. I thought it just had a black and gold label. I didn't know they also put anti-freeze flavoring in it. I'll stick with the silver label from not on thanks.

The fuck does this have to do with anything we're discussing in this thread?

Injecting horse shit into the thread that you know is divisive says more about you than you realize.
Did you not see the series of images posted prior, or that there was a running joke for multiple posts?

You can make judgements about my character all you want, lol.

The CMA had previously blocked it precisely because it did not see how secure later solutions would be; Her changing positions to me indicates more political than technical pressure; Since what changed in the US and Sony's contract was in relation to the console market and not the cloud, which remains exactly the same as your initial concern
Well, Sony also has a cloud offering too. Both companies are looking at cloud gaming as a possible future, unfortunately.

We don't have the details of the proposal put before the CMA. Why are you taking random speculation as factual information?

That's because Boosteroid, like GeForce Now, allows you to stream games you buy on other stores. Steam, EGS, Battle.net, Origin etc. those are the platforms actually selling the games and the revenues go to the storefront and the games publishers.

Boosteroid and GFN make their money from subscriptions to have access to cloud streaming. Not MTX or software sales.

MS literally can't keep 100% of MTX revenue in these cases since they have to pay the storefront (Steam, Epic etc) their 20% - 30% cut.
^^ He's got a point.

Anything is possible!

It's what they want for sure but the nature of their remaining fanbase has made that impossible for them.

So as it stands the only option is an attempt to eliminate the competition.
I am not sure what MS's long-term plans are. At one point, I did suspect they were aiming higher, but some of the decisions they made and acted on with Bethesda made me question that. However, I don't think they are making key business decisions based simply on their hardcore fanbase, the ones who claim ownership of their boxes and simply want to have something over the "other" fanbase as some sort of trophy. At least I would hope not, lol.

We know what their long term plans are. We saw the emails, we've seen their strategy.

For some reason, they've fixated on GamePass, market expansion via Cloud and - most prominently - mobile for growth.

I'm not sure why anyone is still fixated on an imaginary grand console domination strategy.

Sadly for them, Gamepass growth looks to be slowing as they struggle to pump out games, Cloud is struggling (technical issues, queues, slower demand and cannibalization of hardware) and they've been unable to have any in-house mobile success.

Windows - Wide Support - Not Foreclosed to Competitors
Linux - Patchy Support (proton exists but could run into licensing issues when commercialized) - Not Foreclosed to Competitors
MacOS - Near Zero Support - Not Foreclosed to Competitors
Playstation OS - Wide Support - Foreclosed to Competitors
Xbox OS - Wide Support - Foreclosed to Competitors
Switch OS - Patchy Support (currently not a delivery target for a noticeable number of upstream providers) - Foreclosed to Competitors
"upstream providers" 😏
Why not use the correct and commonly used terms instead of making up this BS.

Senjutsu are you back on your meds?

They're going into new markets e.g. cloud gaming and entering existing markets like mobile while expanding services, first party, indies and subs/Cross platform etc etc.

There will be growth again quickly.

Not super new but Bobby explains why Tencent and ByteDance are the best companies in the world

He has a point about protected markets. It's been really weird seeing the global regulators hone in on this purchase in particular, seemingly just because of the combination of sticker shock and that it involves MSFT.

Also Tencent's purchase of Riot Games and GGG were really 10000 IQ moves, long before the industry overall knew just how much money could be earned from F2P games with crazy long-tail monetization like LoL and PoE.

They got supercell too, the investment they made on mobile is huge, i'm surprised they didn't bought mihoyo yet.

did the ftc finally drop the case completely? I remember a report saying that was the intention and then nothing

should we also know something from the cma next week?

Yes, they withdrew their case on 7/20. The CMA is the only regulatory body that blocked in the world at this point.

Sea of Stars has a demo out, it's amazing.
Thanks for the heads up. 😊 Though I just booted up the demo and felt I was back in my ZX Spectrum days. I guess its fine if you're into retro pixel art. Not for me. Starfield just over a month away though. Bit surprised its gone a little quiet. Hope its a good launch. Surprised there wont be a playable demo at Gamescon.

I was sitting here playing some D4 on my steamdeck and a bad thought popped in my brain. This option will probably be gone once this deal goes through. I am going to miss playing Diablo and WOW on the toilet. :messenger_sad_relieved:
