idk, but if they remove battlenet on it, there would be a plan to either play it via steam or have a native app. Could be wrong, but I don't think they wouldn't have a solution if that was in their plans.

I doubt Microsoft is going to support Steam Deck with anything other than streaming. Especially when there are handhelds such as Rog Ally running Windows in direct competition with a non-Windows device. If they shut down battle.net then more than likely all games purchased will have to be accessed through the Microsoft store. They are certainly not going to give battle.net customers a free Steam license.

So yeah, Microsoft could effectively take Blizzard games away from Steam Deck owners by shutting down battle.net.

I'd think that MS would want to keep as many revenue streams open as possible for both these games. I never played WOW, but isn't that a subscription game. And D4 is a Live service game with both a battlepass and mtx. It's in their best interest to support as many platforms as possible to maximize revenue.

As I said, I could be wrong, but it would be a bad business decision to not have a replacement for Battlenet "if" they decided to remove it or fold it into Xbox Live

I would love it Microsoft decided to support Steam Deck fully, but I just think if it isn't a Microsoft platform then all it will ever get is streaming. I hope you are eventually proven right though and I am wrong.

If Bethesda wasn't mentioned in the deal then their games were not a part of the deal. That's how deals work. But they obviously came to a different arrangement to include Bethesda's games.

Its his wordings that I was calling out. He states "Microsoft's Activision Blizzard deal isnt even done yet, but here they are". Yet these games are Bethesda and not ABK, regardless of the motivation behind the agreement coming into being.

Also in the article he then contradicts himself in within his own opening statement:
Bethesda's popular Doom, Quake, and Wolfenstein games are making their way onto the GeForce Now cloud gaming service this month, Nvidia announced in a blog post. While Nvidia didn't reveal the specific titles in each franchise (although the post teases an image of Wolfenstein: The New Order), you must have the Ultimate or Priority membership to get access when they drop.

I just find his captures at times a touch misleading. Intentional or otherwise, I frequently have trust issues with his reporting.
 
The cloud remedies only include Activision Blizzard console and PC games.....

Tell me... when did Microsoft first approach Nvidia for this deal (and Nintendo for their deal and Sony for their deal), when did Nvidia accept the deal, and when the commission propose their remedies?

The wording is fine. Microsoft approached these companies months and months ago to get ahead of the deal's final decisions to make sure they got out the message that they would continue to distribute at least some games to competitors like Nintendo and to cloud competitors like Nvidia. While the commission's report states ABK games, Microsoft can't make that decision yet because they haven't closed, but they are still showing that they will release their first party games elsewhere to... garner support. It is because of this deal that they reached out to Nvidia, Sony, Nintendo, etc to garner support for its closing. Microsoft could have waited for the deal to close to start bringing games to Nvidia and do the bare minimum of ABK games, but they are trying to do more early because, well, the deal still hasn't fucking closed. I personally thought these 10 year deals started when Microsoft would close and if they didn't close, the deals would be void, but apparently they are still a go despite MS not owning ABK yet and Nvidia will reap 10 year rewards anyway.

So the headline reads like... "Microsoft signed these deals with Nvidia, etc because of their merger with ABK and everyone expected them to start as soon as the deal closed, but hey... look, first party games are coming to Nvidia despite the deal not even being done yet."

Nvidia actually opposed the ABK acquisition up until the point that they were offered and accepted the 10 agreement, but it doesn't matter. I looked into this further and I'm wrong.

MSFT voluntarily extended the remedies mandated by the EU CC to:

A) Bring all XGS/Bethesda games to all BYOG cloud gaming services and,
B) Apply globally

The EU CC remedies originally only applied to ActiBlizz games and in the EEA (European Economic Area).

That's an old article, So I would assume that's the earliest they can respond.

I'm probably wrong, but II would think the longer the CMA inquiry group take to respond, the more likely they are to agree that it is a new merger. A fast response would suggest they can quickly see it failed broad tests and can be dismissed.

For me, that would mean the appeal will be needed. I can't see any way in which the inquiry group uses less than the allocated time and agreeing with the new proposal without it looking like they did half a job and capitulated to power/money. It is going to look very dodgy when this deal passes regardless, but will look even worse if they don't at least maintain a façade for the full duration IMO.

We know that they are working to get this done before the 29th August anyway, so it could well be this week. Nothing dodgy is going on with this deal mate, why you've conjured this up in your head is quite baffling.
