No, including the EU.
Ubisoft owns the rights worldwide.

Microsoft just made the deal, so they can honor their existing promises to the EU.
But Ubisoft owns the cloud streaming rights worldwide including the EEA region

No. This doesn't apply to the EU.

The restructured transaction won't affect Microsoft's obligations to the European Commission, though. Microsoft has made several cloud gaming deals and EU regulators approved the Activision Blizzard deal thanks to a free license to consumers in EU countries that would allow them to stream via "any cloud game streaming services of their choice" all current and future Activision Blizzard PC and console games that they have a license for.

Edit: nevermind.
They will have to buy the rights from Ubisoft for EEA too. You are right.

Im trying to work out who you're laughing at? That poster said nothing funny, then you wrote your joke and started laughing 🤔 so you must be laughing at yourself, very strange.
It's quite obvious the lol is for the clowns who were repeating MS will leave the UK if CMA didn't accept.

So in the end...$69 billion so Microsoft can license CoD from Ubisoft (WTF?!) to add to GamePass. This is fucking stupid.
It only applies to cloud?

So no, if you download and install COD off Gamepass, you're fine. if you're trying to play COD on xcloud, sure, yeah, but I'd wager there's some kind of deal where MS gets the streaming rights for free from Ubi.

Ah NVM. I use PC and XBox so I am good. This deal is getting very convoluted.

This shit just gives me a headache anymore... So much fuss over cloud gaming my God. Ms still makes money off of all of this, just doesn't get direct control over cloud streaming in UK? Jesus hurry up and pass this flaming turd of a situation and move on CMA

The poster came with the same sentiment that has been repeated a number of times throughout this saga. Sony should accept a three year deal Microsoft proposed, Sony should accept a ten year deal Microsoft proposed, the CMA should accept the Remedies Microsoft's has proposed. Just because it's Microsoft doesn't mean theses other entities need to acquiesce.

MS wants to spend almost 70 billion to grow its GP and Xcloud service... but it will have to put those games in the UBI service so that it can be played through the cloud on Luna and Playstation, that makes it lose a lot of meaning to this purchase (he never really had it).

Right, well I didn't know that.

Out of curiosity how long would Microsoft and Ubisoft have been working out this deal? Seems like Microsoft knew the CMA would block again given the announcement of this new proposal.

CMA basically going ahead with the final order to block the old merger is a slap in the face to the EC.

Pretty much sticking to there original view that those deals are trash and EC accepted that trash.

EC look weak.

Yeah, but presumably it takes longer than a few days? I don't know nothing about this type of thing.
Well it took them a month to actually propose this to CMA. Ubisoft has the cloud streaming running and it's not a direct MS competitor. Not many options on the market for the configuration to work anyway.

EC be like: "We made new rules, we won't let big corporation decide!"
Ghen MS comes and EC be like: "Ok master do what you want"

"from MLex

- Microsoft's restructuring of its acquisition of Activision Blizzard to win UK approval will see the European Commission assess whether a fresh EU notification is necessary.

- Microsoft believes the divestment of cloud-gaming rights to Ubisoft outside of Europe will allow it to respect EU commitments adopted in May, but officials are now studying if a new review by the EU merger regulator is needed. "The commission is carefully assessing whether the developments in the UK require another notification to the commission," a spokesperson for the EU authority said."

It will never end, the ec might not be happy with the remedies proposed to the cma. i wonder how the various boosteroids and insignificant providers took it after this agreement with ubisoft. besides nvidia

Fair point, to be honest I don't really care that much. Just here for the meltdowns.
Not sure we will have any meltdowns.. deals get approved sonyfans "well, big fucking nothing, can play anything anyway for 15 years" deals get blocked xboxfans "well fuck it this deal is a travesty in comparison with the original anyway" ... I guess the only meltdowns are for the batshit crazy like jeez

DOOM Eternal but with lawyers.

So it opens the possibility to re-review the deal in every other jurisdiction, US included. With this pace it will close around the middle of the PS6 cycle.

But what about the previous contracts with nVidia, Boosteroid and so on?
Ubisoft will now be the only beneficiary?
That's the double whammy by the CMA.

Those contracts will also be in play because of the EC behavioral remedies. And Ubisoft will also get ABK games, in addition to Nvidia and Boosteroid etc., because of the CMA deal.

So, essentially, Xbox wanted to make ABK games exclusive to Xbox and Game Pass. But these ABK games will become like a college slut that is found in every dorm room 😄

Microsoft will be like:

EU is jealous

they shouldn't have been scared by MS and blocked it instead

New report from MLex (I told you that the EC wasn't going to be happy):

Are you ready for a new CMA and EC merger review? :p xD

MS says that everything is fine, but we'll see...

Surely the EC won't GAF since they'd already passed the deal? This version of it is less contentious, not more, right?

Interesting turn of events though, there are endless ways for Microsoft to negotiate this element of the deal to not affect their plans in any meaningful way whatsoever. If it gets it over the line, the question must be, what was the point in the CMA's reservations?

It'll be a bit of a joke if Microsoft now turn around and say "Locally installed Call of Duty is exclusive to Xbox and PC." Could end up a worse deal for everyone.
