Yeh I'd like to see some confirmation for this.

Edit: just googled and it the classic unspecified "future update", no reference of it being in the first update.
It was in one of the Forza monthly streams IIRC, they said it's delayed but still coming

Yep, they've said its coming, just not when.

For a feature that was advertised prior to launch I'd have hoped they would have a more definitive time frame in mind.

Well it's T10, if they set a date it'd probably just be a guess anyway

Like Redfall's 60 FPS?

To avoid a similar fate (and backlash), they should share a date or at least a month.

Even sharing a year would be good. I still remember all the grand promises they made about FM7 having a comprehensive penalty system for launch. That took years to arrive (after most players had long since moved on) and still fell way short.

Games that you pay full price for should be substantively finished on release, with only minor bug fixes coming later. Instead it is common for devs like Turn 10 to release half-finished games lacking major content and functionality, and/or with lots of bugs, and then take years to update them when they feel like it.

seriously just fucking hire the devs from DriveClub.

Real time volumetric clouds add quite a lot to the atmosphere here.

Ok, last one.

DriveClub Rain vs Forza Rain. Driveclub still wins lol The XSX is like 10 times more powerful than the base PS4. I get that they are doing native 4k 60 fps in performance mode which is 8x more pixels per frame, but can we maybe drop the resolution down a bit to get some of those decade old driveclub rain particles?

Also love how the entire track is wet and reflective. you dont need RT reflections to get good reflections. Just talk to the ex evo studios tech team and hire those geniuses.

Only thing missing is a dance floor
Eric Dane Laughing GIF by euphoria

I kid kid don't at me 😂
That euphoria gif actually proves just how important it is to have good cinematography in video games. That show is probably the most gorgeous looking show on tv. Cinematography is so important when it comes to giving games and tv shows a movie-like feel. its why driveclub looks so amazing because they didnt bother chasing boring lifelike lighting. they went all out with their weather filters and the game has aged way better than any 2014 racing game.

So no, i like those colorful forza tracks that look straight out of euphoria. euphoria >> any soulless soap opera looking trash netflix and disney/marvel put out. I think you'll agree because earlier in the thread you all were trashing forza over its muted color scheme in the IGN video.

True, I know which one looks more realistic in those gifs though.

Yes Driveclub's poor IQ is masked by low res gifs, and yes It's all baked.. but by god does Driveclub still impress!

I thought they were test tube babies? 🤔 with the way new alts keep popping up for the likes of Senjutsu and others all the time
They just keep churning them out

I LOVE Forza especially the Motorsports version but damn some people willing to die on the hill defending it instead of actually playing it

GT looks great too, Forza just looks better in those comparisons.
It looks great in other lighting conditions like the sunset gif i posted, but in those midday and rain comparisons, no it doesnt look great. It looks garrish and simply wrong. There is zero light bounce and stuff simply doesnt look right.

Forza had the same issue last gen. Stuff looked drab, dull and boring during day time, and whenever i pointed it out people got mad at me. Now, after their lighting improvements, it is showing just how dated Forza 7 looked last gen.

And while GT7 had better lighting than Forza 7, it was still rooted in last gen GI. Something Forza 8 has finally fixed. When GT8 comes out, it will make GT7 feel dated the same way Forza 8 is doing with Forza 7.

Forza 7 always felt overcast, even when it was sunny. That and the dark and dingy menus the game was SO DULL

Have you seen this video? Interesting what it says at the beginning.

lol I like how that starfield filter has become a meme in itself. good to see there is no such filter here, and the game actually has a decent HDR implementation.Crazy how starfield still has no HDR support a month after launch on PC.

I actually like that starfield filter because it adds fake volumetrics and makes the game look better, but id rather they get rid of the filter and actually add better volumetric lighting via the engine instead.

YES! I had the same issue with Forza Horizon 5 and the Crew. Day time lighting just looked off last gen in racing games. Far Cry 6 has this same harsh lighting. Avatar is much more softer and has proper light bounce making everything look grounded.

Nope, GT7 looks amazing in the rain and during midday especially on Grand Valley Speedway.

FM7 looked dull compared to its two same-gen predecessors. FM 2023 is arguably only returning to the brightness of FM5/6.

Whats weird about DriveClubs poor IQ is that it only affects certain levels and lighting conditions. In forest levels in India, forget about it. Its a mess on a 4k tv. poor trackside detail too. But go to icey norway mountains under cloudy conditions and the game looks as good as the gifs. The trackside detail no longer looks poor in comparison to the latest forza horizon and gt games, and it honestly surprised me.

We had a long argument about driveclub's IQ and trackside detail issues in the next gen graphics fidelity thread just a month or two ago. I booted up the game thinking 'nope, it looks good as the gifs', and was hit in the face with reality almost immediately, but i continued playing through different tracks and it is not always true. Some areas do look as good as the gifs. It's obvious that the dark cloudy areas are hiding the flaws in the trackside detail, but the IQ is pretty damn good here in this video.

I think the rain has the same effect. It hides all the game's imperfections not just on small gifs but also on a big 4k screen.

Wow. What happened here. The light bounce on the tracks is so much better than in FM7. I hope someone does a side by side FM6 to FM8 comparison to see the differences in GI.

Everything else sucks ass though. The overall lighting is still fugly and the trackside detail is laughably bad in comparison to Forza 8. We never talk about how MS fucked over Turn10 last gen with a 1.3 tflops GPU and jaguar CPU. At least PD had 40% more GPU power to work with not to mention way faster VRAM. I do wish Turn10 had pushed some of the visual settings higher in FM8. Targeting native 4k 60 fps in non-RT mode is a mistake when 1440p looks just fine on 4k tvs.

I'm not a fan of those screenshots either, but in general screenshots will never do RT justice because RT is dynamic, there's even color correction going on in real time as the car hits brighter or darker areas.

What do you think about this one?

They both look great in their own way to me.

When FM7 came out, someone did a comparison with the older games on the Forza forums showing what a significant downgrade it was, I wish I could find it. FM5 was often the best for track / trackside detail and density. 6 lowered those to get more cars on screen, 7 went backwards even further.

Even with the cardboard crowds?!

The crowds were the same quality on 5, 6 and 7 IIRC. But typically denser on 5. It looked fine while you were driving and would have been a waste of CPU/GPU resources to improve them when that could be put to better effect, so I have no problem with them being cardboard cutouts.

I tune in and the first thing he's talking about is a bug with the rear view mirror and issues with the AI.

I think it's safe to say it's not something he's going to play regularly.

Can't believe Gamma wrong or gamma bug is still a thing in 2023 on Xbox.

Remember 360 or even launch Xbox One when some people thinking is better on One because "more dark & contrast"...

In the replay mode there are a load screen when changing cameras or vehicles :messenger_face_screaming:

That has always happened on FM. Strange that it is now that people have seen it. That being said, they should have resolved that by now.

At least the TV broadcast camera now offers a very notable replay with much better camera shots, DOF and MotionBlur.
These can't be real😂

As if a glitch or bug in the LOD was something extraordinary.....🙃

But wow, I'm clear that those screenshots have already been used appropriately by Twitter fans to make people believe that the trees in FM are like that.

Even with the cardboard crowds?!

I just had a look on FM5 to remind myself and the difference is stark. On Prague for example, multiple places on FM6 and 7 have few to no spectators which are full on FM5. Also at one point you go under a load of trees covering the road on FM5, these are all missing on 6 and 7. (FM5 captures are mine.)

Sorry if this is off topic but I thought some people might be interested to see how the series regressed graphically after FM5. (Big shame Prague isn't in FM 2023.)

Some more Motorsport videos, the lighting looks great. You brought up earlier one clip about it getting really dark when there's no world lights, the first video has a great moment showing that.

The only source of light is the cars headlight.

These people usually do a great job and in the next few days dozens of comparisons will be uploaded.

For me visually I would say that Forza wins off the road and GT7 on the road, with a much more realistic image.

Are you watching on your phone or something?

I can't understand how anyone could say GT looks more realistic here.
