Ice Cube What GIF

it's too early for weekend GAF to be in full swing

edit: for those coming in late, the OP was originally a video of the Mass Effect title screen

I thought this thread was going to be about Jonathan Edwards, but instead it's about some soyboy youtube channel.

brand loyalty is a thing, thats why

its like rooting for your favourite football team, or in playstation fanboy terms, your favourite pony

am i doing it righ?

Because most gamers are teenagers and people in their early twenties. And these people have not grown up at that point to not substitute lack of personality with brand tribalism. People grow out of that shit by their late twenties (well... most of them at least. Some remain retarded).

Hey no fair, I'm 37 in December and I'm still completely retarded :lollipop_sad_relieved:

When you are poor and/or a kid with no income you can't afford to own multiple gaming systems and have to make choice.
Once you've decided on a system you now feel the need to defend it and prove that it's better than the competition to make yourself feel good about the choice you made.

If you want to end it, don't talk negatively, it'll just backfire at you, just remember, there's no genuine hatred towards videogames, in reality, people would rather try to avoid what they don't find worthy, genuine hatred don't exist in this medium.

Dorks on the internet just like to pick a side and argue about shit. It's been like this forever, not exclusive to gaming.

Good luck with this post. As evident here, people get very uncomfortable when they have to look in the mirror. I am not excluding myself.

They typically will lash out before even considering that they might be at fault.

There is a second consideration; there is a real possibility that a console owner might abandon the platform if they no longer see a point of supporting it. This is not theoretical but a real thing. And the platform concerned just might deliberately generate fanboy wars just to defend itself, despite saying they don't do it at the same time. Double-speak and deception is a thing.

The title of the video is, "Why do Gamers Buy In..."

It doesn't matter that all of the console manufacturers have instigated the Wars at one point or another; what matters is that people buy into it.

Secondly, even if one personally decides that only one console is worth their money, which is a perfectly valid decision, the idea of participating in console wars, and not acknowledging when the other consoles do something well as a result, is not valid. Much less the idea of actively attacking that the other consoles as frequently as possible.

You can argue "both sides do it", but i only see one side that has a habit in lying both behind the scenes and during press conferences and official reveals. Those who are busy making and selling games have better use of their time.

A philosopher king once said "I'm starting with the man in the mirror. I'm asking him to change his ways"

idk what you mean specifically, but both sony and ms executives participate in the console war or instigate it in some way. what exactly do you think the intention in a tweet like this is?

I never understood this mind-set, I never liked let alone be loyal to company, they only people I care about in gaming industry are the developers and artists who make the games I love.

its the same for a lot of things, some people buy iphones and upgrade every year for no reason and other people buy a good phone and use it for a few years.

I believe that's the same philosopher who also said, "Of course that's what friends do for each other, but it's got to be our little secret because your parents wouldn't understand."

I don't get these topics. Do the console wars even exist anymore? Current gen seems PS5 is very objectively a better purchase than Xbox (I own both)

So its impossible to be objective? Lol cmon now. Its EASY to make an objective argument which console is superior between the two. This isn't ten years ago where "console wars" was more of a preference.
There are others who has have their own "objective" idea which is system is better thats how console war starts.

OK but we're not talking about subjectivity masked as objectivity. You realize objectivity is a real thing, right? Don't understand why gamers like yourself get so sensitive over this topic.

The market agrees with me though when you look at the sales 🤷‍♂️

Its kind of human nature, to be/feel better than the other, even if there's nothing to gain from it. And it's not only in console gaming, but anywhere where can be 2 or more brands. Since this is a gaming forum, that's highlighted more here.
Apple vs Android, Lakers vs Warriors, AMD vs Intel, Windows vs Linux, AMD vs Nvidia, Brasil vs Argentina, and so on and so on. Isn't hard to find people killing each other after or even before some soccer games here in Brazil.... people dying because of a game...

you have people dancing in front of tik tok, gaming fanboys should be your least concern.

They don't, only an extreme minority of morons care about their platform of choice.
The rest are more likely astroturfers, making you think there's a lot of them. All of that for a few shitty coupons and swag.
