[INSOMNIAC LEAK] PlayStation Studios PC ports sales figures for Steam have leaked

I just see PC sales as an extra source of revenue. If they can make more profit doing it then it's only going to help.
 
Oof Sackboy didn't sell much at all. Uncharted wasn't too successful either from the looks of it.

Days Gone sold more than spiderman and uncharted on PC but they didn't let them make a sequel because the first game didn't appeal to a bunch of woke journalists.

I'd be interested to see the sales figures if their games had copy protection, like all other big releases. People know they can download Sony games day 1 for free on pc.

I also suspect that a lot of PC gamers also own consoles, and so have already played most of these games.

If you look at that graph you can physically see the hype of PC players getting playstation games with horizon. Maybe that tarnished their experience.

These are not great sales numbers at all, considering. I expected much more. Especially when keys can be purchased for peanuts.
 
That's the price you pay for releasing them 2 or 3 years later.
By that time anyone who wanted to play that game already played it on console.

But if you release them Day 1 on PC then there's no incentive to get the console, so if they're not willing to do Day 1 releases might as well not release them at all, doesn't seem to be worth it.

Sony games belong to the most pirated games on pc. Sony is one of the few devs who are completely drm free but they get punished for it.

Anyway this cant be excused, any trash survival game on pc is selling more than those can't be it.

its not fake, literally over a million files got stolen form insomniac and the hackers posted them on the dark web. they've made their way here. They asked for Ransom and I guess Sony didnt pay

If everyone plays them on consoles if they release it later on pc than that means porting isn't worth it because why should Sony care if most pc players plays them on ps5, in fact they don't have to share revenue with valve. They are in a lose lose situation here.
 
I think most sales numbers are actually pretty good, especially Horizon and God of War, I wouldnt expect more if you release games 2 or 3 years later (and sometimes even more).
In case of Uncharted, they released part 4 when most pc gamers never played the first 3.
 
No idea how accurate these are, but those are some low ass numbers.

Really makes you laugh even harder at people who claim Nintendo should follow Sony's example by releasing their games on PC.

UC4 is also the worst one when visuals are taken out of the equation. I bet a UC1-3 collection would do better.

Some of them is in line with what we know. Don't worry sony will carry on on pc despite the bad sales numbers. But its kinda funny that one reason for them to release on pc in the first place was to get an audience for their gaas games and they are massively scaling their gaas games back now. Even as a decade long pc gamer this ports have done more harm.

Yeah I am not bothered about the numbers, I don't care if they sell well on PC, it's the other things that look fake.

Yeah, the whole PC ports thing was Jim Ryan trying to squeeze every penny from every game they own. Probably after these results and now that Jim is retired they will reevaluate the port strategy.

I mean these games are all old hat by the time they are released on PC. What do you expect? If you are hardcore into Sony games you have a PS5. I actually think they would sell a lot more copies of their games if they launched day one on PC as well, but it would probably hurt PS5 sales and take dollars out of their storefront

Sony games sell 10-20 million copies, so yes, the games are very popular.

Alot of my steamfriends play literally nothing else but unfinished unoptimized survival games which are also mostly the same. So sadly sales and quality don't always go hand in hand.

Yea I don't get them people, but they're probably more interesting experiences than Horizon Zero Dawn tbh.

I'm a little confused by all the messages, first thing, most of the games are around 2-3 years old, even more for some, each game is sold at full price (especially the latest ones) and the big games are at least at 1 million sales, so?

Obviously, it's not as high as on console, but the numbers seem pretty logical to me, not incredible, not bad either.

It would be interesting to see the sales if Sony decides to put their games day 1 on PC.

brah, check the homepage of this forum lol. literally everything in that studio has leaked including their game roadmap for the next decade, and early wolverine development gameplay. All their financial statistics, budgets for games. everything
 
So Uncharted, Miles and Sackboy were not released yet at the time this graph was made.

These definitely don't look high but say they make "only" 30 USD per copy, that's 264.000.000 USD for 4 games that costed what 5-8 million to port per game? If you add the other games, we might talk about 400.000.000 USD in profit for old games that nobody buys anymore on console, release late on PC and cost them nothing to make. Had they not butcher TLOU release, they might be close to half a billion in profit. No company will look at half a billion and say "Yeah not worth it", especially when their main market is breaking all sort of record regardless of PC Port.

But hey, Fanboys gonna fanboys so enjoy that one :D

Also, if you want more sale, you know what to release (Bloodborne) and what to do for future games Sony (Day and Date).

This is a problem of price, Sony can't charge full price for a port years along the line and expect great sales. But even with low numbers I'm sure they're making a bucket load for minimum effort. It's worth it to Sony clearly, just not armchair CEOs on gaf.
 
I think it's pretty obvious that Sony need to either, release games on day 1...or kind of not even bother...their sales are declining at a rapid rate. Their ports have been of poor quality, to the point it's almost pointless now.

I think they gave it a good shot and the PC market just isn't interested and sales are on the decline. Just leave those games to console and push the envelope there.
