I've seen a few reviews of this game and it's another so called big game that doesn't deliver again for me, which is normal now, i wont be paying what Ubisoft want's for it, maybe a few years later when it's cheap and fixed although no one owns their games anymore according to Ubisoft, so maybe i'll never play it, i'm not bothered too much seeing some of the gameplay.

I dunno if it is different in PC version, but selecting the fillscreen 16:9 option cuts off image on the sides, it does not add extra top and bottom image like they show.
On pc if i select the fillscreen i don't tjink i can fix the huge zoom just with the fov option tbh.

I'm gonna try tonight after work.

The speeder bike in this game is really top tier, the movement and handling makes it so much fun to use.

because it's not true, I'm toggling between 21:9 and 16:9 just fine and there's no "black bars being added on top", 16:9 zooms in on the 21:9 image; seems like some people are just experiencing a bug where this doesn't happen correctly, it seems to be only "reviewers" etc. that are experiencing this so maybe they are/were playing a different pre-release version that had this bug.

That's exactly what I get too.

Star Wars Theory, THE authority on SW was not impressed with the speeder and explains why!

Couldn't tell if this was satire. Look at the clunkiness. Speeds straight into a mob and literally nothing happens aside of the speeder jarringly slowing down. No animations on either the animals part or the speeders part that there was a collision. This is 2024 AAA.

No joke, I signed up for Ubisoft+, played it for 10 minutes and put it off.

I'll give it another try but the aspect ratio and it feeling so similar to Assassin's Creed has been an instant turn off so far.

Completely agree. The speeder is awful. Fine when going in a straight line but the moment you need to make any turns it's sluggish and feels awful to move. Like you said, there's no real collision physics when coming in contact with creatures; It's either "is creature small? If yes, bounce them aside" or "is creature large? If yes, crash like wall."

It's also been buggy in my experience, sometimes coming to a dead stop like I crashed into something but nothing is there.

That's only on PS5. They shipped it without the patch being certified on PS5, the PC and Xbox versions were fine. Mark Kern posts outrage garbage out of context. The dude sold $100 Founder's packs for Firefall back in 2011 and then shut down the game. He has no business talking shit.

And the "reviewers" complaining about the story probably never even got the hyperdrive on their ship (about 5-6 hours into the game). Because once that happens, the game turns into Ocean's 11 where you're building a crew for a heist.

This is the most fully realized world of Star Wars to me since KOTOR.

It's my GOTY. Once you get your hyperdrive it gets even bigger. I'm 7 hours in and now starting the missions to build the heist crew. Kind of reminds me of Mass Effect 2 but in Star Wars, but the space flight is better.

I got this game for free with my GPU. Watching some gameplay of it, especially the "stealth" sections, I'm not even sure it's worth installing, let alone playing. Maybe if I'm drunk enough.

You can get a point where outside of maybe an Imperial base you can avoid stealth, and even the Imperial bases you can go in and start blasting. The "don't get caught" stealth sections are areas controlled by a crime syndicate you have a bad reputation with. If you do some contracts and raise your rep with them, you can walk right in and not have to sneak around. But it's clear a lot of reviewers didn't play more than a couple of hours of the game.

I am really into the Star Wars setting and universe but I tend to get cantankerous when it's used to carry the whole thing on its own. I love the fantasy but I don't want part of the fantasy to be that I'm playing a good game that did it justice.

In any case I look forward to riding the speeder bike and healing my trauma from that Shadows of the Empire level, that's worth admission alone when it hits 20.

Yeah this game is fucked. Vram usage just goes up and up and the textures just get set to low and it looks like a ps2 game. Running on medium /high at dlss balanced 4k 21/9 on a 4070ti.

I'm genuinely shocked at how much of a reskinned Assassin's Creed this is.

It's literally the equivalent of what Avatar is to Far Cry.

But it's not a bad game in the slightest, just nowhere near great.

Funny you should mention Shadows. This is basically the canon Shadows of the Empire, except without Leia being smacked around by a giant lizard dude.

I've been reminded of Star Wars Galaxies a lot while playing this game. Stepping foot into Mos Eisley again was a "Chewie we're home" moment lol

Only thing missing from the experience was a ton of afk dancers at the cantina

Not at all like Creed to me.

I think it totally feels like the Tomb Raider reboot trilogy mixed with some Uncharted and some Watch Dogs 1 (Nix is like your smartphone. Stealing from people and everything). The platforming is straight up TR reboot.

And some Horizon 1 whistle in the bushes action.

very much my take, as well (but i'm still very early). i'm actually enjoying the nix mechanic, especially after trying/succeeding with a double take-down...

aka mafia 3 / ghost of tsushima whistle in the bushes?...

I hate the stealth whistle thing, makes the enemies look like a bunch of retards.

I missed it in Forbidden Wilds
Understandable, wasn't it present in the first game? Kinda weird to remove that for the sequel.

In any case, I think that thing is in way too many games. But hey, maybe it fits the Star Wars setting since the storm troopers never were the smartest lads around.

It's the bush similarity that brought Horizon to mind first man. Jesus tittyfucking christ. I'm gonna run all my references by you from now on 😆
hey! it wasn't me who said: 'not at all like creed to me', & then mentioned an assassin's creed mechanic...

Whelp the plans we had for tonight fell through, so I am going to try and refund my standard edition preorder and upgrade to the gold edition and play tonight. Fingers crossed I get a kind agent, as I already refunded one game this year......

Yeah I verified this myself on PC. PC actually zooms in when you put on fill screen, it cuts off the edges. Not sure why console would be different. On PC the field of view is better in the 21:9 mode.

Did you guys turn off all the yellow markers n shit

Not yet. I may at some point. Glad at least the option is there.

By the way if you're running a 4080/4090 I turned off the RTXGI for an insta 20+ fps boost for what in my opinion is not much of a visual downgrade. I'm at 140 fps+ out in the open world at this point. Gonna see how the main city is on Torgana or whatever the planet is called. I was previously getting around 60. This is with all other settings maxxed, 1440p.

Funny how much better it runs on tatooine, pretty much locked 60, I guess all the foliage/water on toshara is heavy to render; mos eisley is packed with people too so that's not it.

? Based on what?

I don't see much from AC in this tbh.

I mean, you do know this team has never made an Assassins Creed game right?

I mean.....you do know this is made in Snowdrop engine, Assassin's Creed is made in a different engine completely, so how is this a "reskin"?
