The next "unexciting" Sony remaster is Days Gone, says VGC guy on twitter

The gaming community really needs to learn a thing or five about killing things with silence and shunning, if you don't like remakes or remasters, then don't buy them and don't talk about them, let them die quietly.

But putting an analyst's cap on, this release kinda serves a couple of things for Sony:

1) They want to test the waters in a cheap way and see if all those vocal Days Gone fans are on to something or not.
2) There were news that Days Gone is getting a film adaptation, not sure where that is at, but this was likely green-lit to coincide with its release.
3) It keeps releases and new things flowing for the Playstation platform. Nintendo does this a lot too (this year alone they have done a Paper Mario remaster and a DKC Returns one) and for good reason: It sells.

Set on their goals Sonye
I hate the new Sonye
The bad mood Sonye
The always rude Sonye
Spaz in the news Sonye
I miss the sweet Sonye
Chop up the beats Sonye

Even though Days Gone runs and looks great on PS5 through BC, I would love a Director's Cut edition on PS5. Game was great and I would gladly replay it one more time.

All Sony is doing here is padding the launch of PS5 Pro titles. Watch and see these ship with "Exclusive PS5 Pro features" included.
If you have a PS5, it'll play fine. However, if you have the PS5 Pro, it'll play with whatever "upgrades/updates" they've decided to include.

as long as people keep buying remasters, they will keep making them, that's all it is.
Yeah, the more I think about it, it makes sense. This is probably another attempt to recoup lost time and money from Factions 2 which Bend was helping on. They have to get their planning started on a new game so they can throw extra development staff at a simple remaster / remake project like they did for TLOU1 and get gamers to foot the bill instead of having them sit around doing nothing.

What happened to them is that they keep outperforming their competition significantly without flexing a single muscle, and realizing their customers are prepared to rebuy the same games multiple times. Seriously, this is one of the laziest Sony generations ever.

So basically Sony just found out who leaks things to Jordan? Maybe even Grubb?

Because I didn't see a Days Gone remaster announced at this State of Play.

I'm just annoyed the remaster was actually HZD instead of days gone.

That one was actually known tho.

This piece of news was being treated as being basically a leak from the show.

There’s a lot of games they’re yet to show.

Lol.

Personally I don't mind remasters all that much. I find the handwringing to be very performative (if you don't like it just don't buy it, let it die in silence).

But didn't we know there was a HZD remaster and the rumour was that there is another "less interesting" remaster in addition which some other insiders were claiming is Days Gone?

Ooor these people just make things up because that's the only thing that makes them even remotely relevant. These useless hacks are complete parasites, they don't make anything, they don't contribute to anything. Their whole internet existence relies on the fact that they have to lie in order to garner attention from people. I think it's more of that.

Yeh I think that's the case.

Honestly, it's getting to the point where these "insiders" are just constantly making shit up in the hope that something sticks. Sony allow this to happen though since they never acknowledge or debunk anything that goes on in the media so the risk/reward is skewed heavily in the favour of these clowns.

There is probably a good amount of custom code in Days Gone, but it would be cool if they could update it to UE5.
Then we could have support for RT, FSR, DLSS, XeSS, PSSR, nanite, Lumen, etc.

I'm hoping its still true. But as the SoP was focused on the coming months and into 2025, if it is still real, I guess we can conclude its certainly not imminent.

So, all of that bitchin’ over a big ol’ nothing’.

Crazy how a Reeeee post had to put things in perspective for so many crybabies!

There are 2 things that guy's long essay is missing:

— A remaster of Days Gone gives some oxigen to Bend, which in 5 years has done a bunch of nothing and whose next game is a question mark. That's probably the main reason why they are doing this, nothing more.

— This is bad for Sony's first-party studios going forward because it gives the message that they can make up for the lack of original games with fucking remasters/remakes/reboots/goty editions, etc. This kills creativity in the long run.

Like the PC initiative, this is a shortsighted strategy for some greedy executives to get annual bonuses. As a gamer, I shit on that and its promoters.

But... why? I really like this game - a lot, but it doesn't need a remaster. It already looks very, very good on PC. SSGI even adds a little light bounce to round off the visuals.

Why the hell does this need a remaster? Doesn't it already run 60 fps on PS5?

Sony has no gaem. Only GAAS and remasters.

But not a Bloodborne remaster which is what everybody wants.
I think Sony is going to do an all out Bloodborne Remake as a PS6 Launch Title.
