Astro Bot is TGA's Game of The Year 2024

Well Astro doesn't feel like a 2006 game so it has that advantage over Metaphor

I think this year was way worse... I mean, in this photo, Sarah at least was LOLing... yesterday, everyone @ XBox was doing that 'i crapped myself' face! :-D

The only thing they won was the Bethesda adaptation stuff... and they never even mentioned (probably rightfully so) Microsoft in any of that. I don't think they mention Microsoft for the Indiana Jones stuff either. It's funny that Microsoft probably paid for Harrison Ford for the night, but didn't want to pay him to do the game...

Already getting a sales boost from winning. #3 PS game on Amazon. #27 best among all video game products. Will almost certainly be higher tomorrow.

Will be interesting to see where digital ends up when PS Store refreshes over the next couple of cycles.

Winning GOTY could legitimately push this game into the 7-10 million category.
The game already received a nice boost during black Friday on Amazon and eventually sold out.

Great game. Ultimately I thought it was way too easy for it's own good, which brought it down a few notches for me (definitely below Balatro, FF7, Metaphor for me).

Impossible to deny the quality though.

This win is more of statement to PlayStation and the industry that we need more 3d platformers that are not Nintendo. It was a quiet year for gaming. Wukong was never gonna win. Reviews are in the 80s. Metaphor was great but maybe too niche to win game of the year? I really thought Rebirth was going to take it but maybe part 3 will get it. The game awards has had some interesting winners of the years. GoW beat RDR2. It Takes Two won 2 years ago. TLOU2 still won even though gamers were mixed about it.

Fantastic game, well deserved. Very polished, varied levels that are just plain fun. Second-to-none Dualsense implementation.

I really enjoyed getting the platinum, my wife recently beat the game and loved it. My niece and nephew love the game, they especially like how you can replay the levels and spend 200 coins on the little bird that helps them find missing collectibles. Basically it’s a hit with everyone that plays it in our experience.

The free post-launch support has been nice as well. I completed the 5 speedrun levels recently, and I heard there was another new level releasing sometime this month. Not a whole lot to complain about, although at the risk of sounding boastful I did find the game to be on the easy side of things personally.

While I thought the game was really good the game was just too safe and felt unambitious outside of adding all of those astrobot characters from third party games. I still can see why it won since it didn't have any controversy and it is a well made game that was loved by most folks.

Astro Bot is a very good game but I'd put in the lower half of GOTY winners. I actually thought Metaphor was going to win. Atlus deserves to bring one home.

Avengers Endgame is fun as well and i don't think anyone would say it is the movie of the year.

I'm sorry. Elden Ring's DLC that gave us so much content and raised the difficulty and it lost to that! A basic ass platformer It is stupid as all hell.
Youre right DLC gave you all that

As it should be. This show was a Sony and 3rd party beat down. Was Xbox and Nintendo even there? /s. Was the grand total from Xbox and Nintendo just Hellblade 2 winning for Audio Design?

It's been a great year for RPG lovers, and I'm happy to hear that a platform game has been recognized.
It's probably a bad year if you expected AAA Western games to be great.
