Virtua Fighter 6 in-game footage (brief)

The Graphics King™ is BACK!!

Damn if the final game can hit those visuals, VF gonna be asserting itself big time. Well-deserved, it's been almost 20 years since the last new entry (crazy, right?).

VF always had great attention to animations and things like blocking not being just one (or three for low, med and high or whatever) static stance that works for every attack & the attacking fighter also comboing unfazed on top of that, it seems they're taking that even further, it looks nice enough.

Man that looks great, almost like a choreographed fight the way blocks react to hits and wake ups react to sweeps.

Well it's choreographed since it's not actual gameplay as it writes but yeah, I'm sure it'll look close enough (when gameplay matches, after all you'll still be knocking people who fail to block down and they'll do silly things to recover etc.), even the past VFs are far from static in that way too.

I do hope we'll see juggles and shit minimized though, but folks seem to expect that stuff in fighting games so, we'll see...

that almost looked like an in-game script. There is no way that is an actual real gameplay. Not talking about the graphics. talking about the moves and the dodging.

This reminds me of an old VF clip from a long ways back where they were apparently experimenting with collision like we see in this clip (I think it was an arcade eye catch). I think it was Pai vs Lau where every hit and block had an appropriate looking reaction.

To me even VF5 still looks fine, its mostly the bad sound effects that kind of bring it down. Those were already considered mediocre on PS3.

There is a chance for VF6. Its not like Tekken 8 in the best place right now and DoA is dead.

It looks absolutely stunning if a little slow a bit like VF3) hope it's speeded up a little for the final game.
I have to say SEGA is on fire at the moment.

It's like the old CSK days again

That clip transports me back to childhood.

Remember when you saw the superior arcade version of you favorite fighting game for the first time? It has those vibes.

Hope they stick to this grounded style and somehow make it work, I don't want another juggle fest with everyone trying to get the one hit that will let them finish a whole juggle combo in with the enemy unable to do anything but wait for most of his lifebar to deplete. We already have Tekken and Virtua Fighter and many more games for that sort of thing. Also no more impact glows either, please, the first 3-4 Virtua Fighter games didn't have that (when they very clearly could have) but then caved in an attempt to be more stylish like Tekken...

I like tekken 8 but it's far too over the top now. It's a 3D anime game at this point.

VF has a chance here to really offer something different and succeed but they have to nail the netcode, mode offerings, and keep with the times of being competitive for the long term. Casuals will buy it and ditch it within a few weeks no matter what but if they focus on them too much it can cost them in long term success and revenue.

I want to see this mainline at EVO!

3D Fighting can finally evolve again, thanks to SEGA. They have been the major force pushing the genre forward from the very beginning, so this is not a surprise. They will take the risk nobody wants to take (or more like nobody has any idea anyway), and then, all other fighting games will copy what they did. As usual.
