Nintendo Switch 2 joycons on display at CES 2025

Nintendo right now:

Posts like these are why we need a "confused" reaction.

Not really as you can clearly see the Switch 2 logo when the dock rotates.
i dont mean its a current switch, i meant the current switch had different docks from different manufacturers so i wont be concerned if it looked different from a leak. i guess they will all be compatible with the switch 2 anways if theres are legit and i guess probably why nintendo so far or not being to vocal . hopefully not to long now for a announcement and some nintendo footage .

in that video we also see the optical sensor having a blinking laser that looks a lot like an optical mouse sensor.
so yeah, it seems more and more likely that they can be used like a mouse.

I wonder however if they have a game right away that makes good use of it.
maybe Mario Maker 3 close to launch?
Super Mario Sniper

The problem with asymmetric sticks for me, is that they aren't practical for some left handed people.
I would prefer them reversed (stick under face buttons on the left side)

What I find the most worrying, is that you can hardly tell the difference with Switch 1. It is the exact same thing. Coming from Nintendo, which have been making consoles vastly different from one another for decades, it feels totally surreal to see how close they are.
the biggest caveat. Even NES to SNES which was the exact same with better graphics and sound had the audacity to look different and have different controllers.

This is the exact same console as Switch 1.

current switch there was all sorts of third party docks , shapes and sizes . i guess as long as they don't brick the switch more choices are welcome
I guess we will see once we know if the dock is as simple as the original. If it does anything to enhance performance then third party docks will be hard to find.

They continue to sacrifice ergonomics for a function that is barely used, hopefully some good grips on the joy con and a good SNES-style D-pad.

Every single time they try to do something different with a follow up they fuck it up.

N64 -> GC
Wii -> WiiU

I'm happy the have learned the third time around.

My guess: "C" for "Cursor" mode. Support for gyro basic cursor on Pro controller and IR mouse cursor on the JoyCon for FPS, RTS, etc because we all know thumb-sticks are utter trash for certain types of games. That'd be kind of wild if it happened, you could play proper strategy games without being hampered by utterly frustrating controls.

but why would you need a button for that?
it's already a thing now and never needed a button.

it's also very out of the way in terms of placement, on both the official joycons and this pro controller, so it's not designed to be a quick off and on switch either it seems.

Wouldn't surprise me going forward if the next iterations are Switch 3 (and so on). If they continue the handheld/dock aspect the only real thing that can be changed is dock design.
I don't want Nintendo to go back to a new gimmick with each hardware, but there are glaring problems with Switch 1 which don't look improved in Switch 2. The whole joycon idea should be scrapped.

third party Switch 2 Pro controller,
notice how the C button is also present here! so, whatever the C button does is not linked to JoyCon functionality.

and it also means the C button has to have a function that is needed in docked or tabletop mode as well, and isn't tied to handheld mode.

The C button stands for Copyright. It will allow Nintendo fans to hit the button and instantly tip Nintendo off against other lesser fans who use clips or screenshots on YouTube.

I don't care about how the console looks tbh. Hope they reveal it soon so we get to see some games.

Maybe it's a button for switching between custom profiles, like you get on some third-party Xbox/PS controllers.

uhh, I doubt it. too messy for an official default controller I think.

crazy how Nintendo didn't ban the hardware companies to she their peripherals, almost as if they did it on purpose to raise hype 🙄

While I would call the WiiU a definitive fuck up, I don't really think you can say the same thing for GameCube.

Nintendo consoles were on a decline from the beginning as each console up until the Wii sold worse then before. NES sold better then SNES and the SNES sold better then the N64 and so on.

GameCube sold roughly 10M less then the N64 but there wasn't really a world in which Nintendo were ever going to beat Sony. The PS1 sold 3x its competitors, and the PS2 increased that even more. Hell even with the N64 Nintendo was in last place when it comes to the big 3 in Japan. The only thing that saved the N64 was the western market as even the Saturn sold more then N64 in Japan.

This is already beyond ridiculous, and I'm starting to lose any faith I could have in this system being good.
Nintendo isn't Kojima. They have never resorted to teasing and tantalizing their audience with deception and bait-and-switch tactics. This whole situation reeks of insecurity on their part. I mean, WiiU was an announced disaster and they still had their president unboxing one while wearing gloves, during a Direct. Now we have more leaks than the Titanic, and still complete radio silence from Nintendo.

I don't believe they don't have their big game ready for launch. Their latest full-blown 3D Mario was more than 7 years ago. To not have their best launch game ready at this point would be beyond moronic. Have we ever, ever seen a gaming system getting so close to release without a single word of preview from the maker?
Nintendo will have had a marketing plan set out for a while, and they won't change it just because of what unlicensed accessory makers do.

I do agree that it looks like Nintendo is going for the shortest announce to release timing in decades.
Yea I don't expect any 'Switch 2' exclusive games, like... ever. Probably just looks better, but I doubt they will abandon all the millions of Switch 1 users.
There will be a cross gen period like with PS5. But this is a successor, not a pro, so there will exclusive games.

Nintendo must be livid about this. They need to announce in next couple of days and control the narrative here. Soon we'll see it switched on etc
