David Lynch has died aged 78

Damn, rest in peace. He was an absolute legend.

I hope he's relaxing in a non-horrifying Red Room of his choosing.

Too soon. My favourite director of all time, really shaped my early adulthood.

I am so grateful we got Twin Peaks season 3, a final goodbye with his true, unconstrained creativity.

His PS2 commercials were an incredible moment in popular culture. I was lucky to get to see him live in Helsinki back in the day, talking about 'catching the big fish'.

Celebrity deaths don't often do anything for me, but this one hurts. Not always a fan of his movies, but Twin peaks has occupied so much of my brain. The return especially. I still think about it a lot. Was a true artist in the field.

RIP

What a visionary. He made my favorite movie as a kid Dune (1984) and I honestly still like it more than the new ones.

I knew Twin Peaks: The Return would end up being his final work... and what a perfect way to close his career, it was brilliant at weaving in just about every part of the symbolic universe and techniques he developed across all those films.

obligatory:

He always seemed like one of the good ones in the industry. I remember watching this a while ago. It always seemed to me that he was such a wonderful person to work with. All the ladies seemed to adore him.

It's better than the new ones, arguably. Captures the weirdness and otherworldliness of the book.
As someone who is a big Villeneuve fanboy, I can actually not say which Dune movies are better. I kinda like both Villeneuve's movies and Lynch's movie for different reasons.

I do think Lynch's Chani is hotter than Zendaya as Chani, tho. And also Sting as Feyd is cool as fuck.

Sean Young, aka Rachel from Blade Runner.

Brilliant artist. With less skill involved this would be a copout, as it is for many other directors, but he blended intent and abstraction better than anyone else.

Amazing response. Not every media is for everyone to fully understand, sometimes you're just supposed to sit back and enjoy the ride.

There was an unfortunate falling out with Lara Flynn Boyle (Donna) and Michael Anderson (The Arm) from the cast of Twin Peaks. I don't think they ever made amends. But other than those two, both of whom were the aggresors it sounds like, everyone else has had nothing but good things to say.

Even Julee Cruise (the Roadhouse singer from Twin Peaks) and Lynch had a falling out at one point. Fortunately they made amends; she recounted how she reached out to him after a few years of not talking to one another, but once they started talking again, he was the first to apologize lol.
