Assassin's Creed Shadows has already passed 1 million players!

That means it hasn't passed 1 million sales and isn't it out today? If the game hasn't passed 1 million sales by now, how many did the other AC sell? Remember this on is also available via their sub, correct? Engagement metrics from a non-gamepass game is not something to brag on. This news to me makes it more likely in my mind that the game didn't meet their probably rather lofty sales expectations.

Edit: I'm still not buying or recommending it to anyone :D

People need to stop celebrating when games hit "okay" initial numbers. Sales are always front loaded and often fall off a cliff. The budget are so wildly out of control that it'll need a good 10 mil sales. If it gets 3 mil in the first few weeks people will shout about its success, then we find out a few months later it was a massive financial failure as it stalled at 4 mil.

When all its said and done the series has a big fanbase ...it's always guaranteed to sell a few million copies.
Is that enough for Ubi? I don't think so.
Plus , as GAF shows, you just need to put some shiny graphics on your usual slop and most people will be impressed and eat it up.

I imagine a good portion is on Ubi plus subscription service that's why they talk about reaching 1M players rather than copies sold. It's hard to tell whether this is a success or not just for now.
Yeah way too early to tell.

The budget has to be on at least FFXVI's caliber and that game gotten over 3 million actual copies sold within 1 week. Right now AC isn't even at 1 million copies sold just 1 mil player which include those of gamepass.

Even if it was 1 million copies, that still wouldn't be a great first news for this budget level of a game. A 1 million copy sold news is better off with much lower budget games like Granblue Fantasy Relink, Stellar Blade, Silent Hill 2 Remake. If I was them I would have waited for a 3 million actual copies sold news within a week and actual copies sold like FFXVI and not just players.

Don't celebrate too early, remember, remember "go woke go to the top of the charts."

It took us a long time to verify that Wokeguard failed.
I mean Veilguard had a smaller but more enthusiastic fanbase that was very starved, and thus came in droves for the 1st week or so. Once these guys got done with it it was all over for the title really.

Assassin's Creed is far, FAR bigger with normies than Dragon Age or any Bioware title. Like I think the only bigger titles to normies are your CODs, GTAs and FIFAs.

I don't think that's such a big portion, the Ubisoft subscription numbers aren't THAT big. Though I would question their judgment if they put this on there day 1.

My brother was just telling me today that he bought it.
They're recording their South of Midnight outrage videos right now.
It's honestly a bad state of affairs when one can predict the rage bait coming out.

Euphemising the sales performance is a standard strategy to get non-buyers more likely to hop aboard.

If this sells poorly or mediocre at best that is a good thing for the industry, as Ubisoft promotes monetisation tactics that should not be welcomed.

I mean, this game was always going to sell a few million. Question is will it be the mega hit that it needs to be.
A few million is going to be an underestimation imo. I don't think it's gonna do MonHun numbers, but it's gonna do very well.

The concept of Assassin's Creed in Japan has been long-sought after by fans.

If it's trivial then there is no need to say pass 1m players rather than sold 1m copies.

That's why I hate those wording "reach" "engagement", etc. It does not provide a clear picture of the metric. It would be much easier to judge the game's performance if they just confirm how many copies they sold.

Rage grifters failed.

you have no power here GIF

I'm taking no sides on this. On one side, you have the usual band of anti-woke rage grifters, and on the other side you have people cheering for an average formulaic game made by a notoriously shitty company. Let them fight.

This sounds more like engagement numbers than actual sales.
Would be better to wait and see, but I guess they need every bit of good vibe to the game.
