Video games are fucking awesome.

Just ridiculously entertaining. I haven’t taken a break from them longer than a week in 30 years. There’s just ALWAYS something I wanna play and the shared experience between friends is like nothing else.

Knowing someone you just met played Dark Souls immediately gives you dozens or hours of relatable experience. You know their struggles and vice versa. Same could be said for most games.

The hardware, collecting, tweaking things on PC, achievements on consoles, the ever progressing technology, the trailers, the hype, the stories, the PLAYING!

I think sometimes we forget how lucky we are to have them.

Who did they think I was shilling for?
Games are awesome but so are comics and movies and books.

For me it took a while to figure out what kind of games I like so I didnt have to feel like I had to play everything that came out.

I don't care abut MP, gacha games, GTA, COD, Assassin Creed, side scrolling platformers, any kind of 8 or 16 bit retro looking games.

I like Dark Souls, Resident Evil, 2D and 3D fighting games, JRPGs

Knowing this I can just focus on the stuff I like and ignore what I don't.

This has been a long time struggle of mine. I have a lot of hobbies and video games are just one of them (albeit a big one).

Legit have the exact same taste in games and I also read books and comics (more manga these days).

It’s an embarrassment of riches when it comes to entertainment.

No No No! You need to stop enjoying the games & come online to complain!

Hell yeah! Apert from a couple of years lost to partying (made me miss Morrowind, damn you alcohol lol) I've had year after year of amazing experiences.

I'm guessing 99% of people here feel the same...which is also probably why we're so protective of it.

Dark Souls - play the OG on 360/ps3 or the OG steam port (patched, not 1.0).
Remaster got broken background audio.

Other than that - yes. gaming is awesome.
Continuing with Dark Souls example - you get sucked into this world, you explore it, feel it. It's so amazing when you think about it.

I know. But dark souls was mentioned and I learned this recently.
Huge difference. background audio like wind are gone if you die in that area and reload in remastered

Videogames are like anything else - about 90% are crap. Fortunately, that still leaves 10% to enjoy.

I've been playing for 40+ years, and I do agree. However, I cannot remember a time when the forward release schedule looked so anaemic.
Regardless, there is always more awesome content to consume than there is time to play.
Also, thankfully Nintendo is coming to save the industry next week as they always do.

Then what men usually do besides playing video games? I hear that argument dozens of times and usually they end up doing something worse. I'd say the opposite, if you care about your kids grades on school then obviously you know what to do.

For me, along with exercise, proper diet and prayers, Video games is also good for the health especially for the mind and also helpful to retain that youthful glow. Videogame is also a catharsis for me. Example of games that are catharsis for me are Ico, Gta vice city, OG FF7, Stellar blade, Death stranding, and GT7. And it may sound strange but also Doom 1 and 2 on Ps1 during my youth days in gaming. I repeat all the stages multiple times during ps1 era.
