Yeah and people were hoping for 399$... the worst is the price of the games, dev costs are getting higher with better graphics and Nintendo won't give up on their big margins.

Only 50K yen in Japan ($334), they will be raffles to have the "privilege" to buy that thing. Best of luck to Sony trying to sell that 120K yen PS5 pro when Switch 2 arrives.

That's what they usually do in Japan. At peak, in order to get one of the 250 tickets available for some of the AKB48 biggest members' graduation performance there were over 1m entries.

Still a ripoff with no disc drive and stutter issues.

Switch 2 doubles as a handheld. It has performance that blows away phones that are double its price.
I'd tone it down a little with the 'ripoff' comment now that Switch 2 is €470.

It's quite pricey, just like Pro.

It's going to be 600 in Canada and add tax and your around 700 plus the cost of the games and there's no way I'm paying that just to play Metroid. I'm definitely out.
Gaming has never been a poor man's hobby, just wait until it drops in price ..... (realises it's post Switch Nintendo) oh well, forget it then.

I think at most it will be $50 above this, can't see it breaking the $500 price point because then you'd invite comparisons to vastly superior tech in the PS5 and Series X. I don't think it would go below $450 because Nvidia is not gonna cut them a sweetheart deal anymore, there's a reason PS and Xbox don't work (anymore) with Nvidia and we're about to discover it.

I can also see Nintendo doing bullshit like shipping without OLED screens or using very small internal storage too.
I think I get to pull a O onQ123 and have a victory lap of my own because I got all of it correct pretty much lmao.

Also this means that we might not get a Switch 1 price drop either.

I probably won't preorder but I hope this is easy to get at launch
I will be shocked if it isn't.

- Weak reveal direct.
- Higher price than expected.
- Reportedly lots of stock being made available.

Big winner is Valve here. They can position the Steamdeck 2 as the defacto portable with a regional pricing storefront.
Make no mistake, Lord Gaben is watching.

For me its:
-Wait and see about which switch 1 titles are backward compatible.
-Wait to see how good (or bad) the BC actually is. (input lag for the shmups for instance).

-Wait for an actual good Switch 2 Nintendo 1st party game. This version of DK and Mario Kart aint for me.

Price is a bummer, but considering the ongoing trade war, it was expected. Scalpers will double it in the first months.
I´ll go the classic "dont ever buy a system at launch" and wait, probably for the second iteration with more battery life, like last time.

Will I end up with a S2 on the long run? Definetly. But at launch? Clear no.

I have a 100 euro discount on this thing, but with this price and this price on games.. Seriously reconsidering my idea to buy a switch 2.

Any info on the number of dimming zones this LCD screen has? Don't tell me it's 0 zones with HDR, that would be funny.

Hating on the screen without even seeing the console.
I'm a fan of the OLED screens. Switch OLED is beautiful compared to the trash LCD screen. Steam OLED is also beautiful. Switch 2 at that price point, with shitty hardware and no Zelda is an easy pass for me. I'd still get if it had an LCD screen and launched with a new Zelda though, it's not necessarily a deciding factor. But it compounds the issues I have with this launch that's for sure.

You are really struggling with the concept of different markets. ;)
The question is if the Switch installbase will make the jump to Switch 2, especially at that price.

We've seen with WiiU what can happen and ever since the SNES, Nintendo only released 2 successful consoles:
Wii, which was a fad, and Switch, which is a hybrid and had to use the handheld demographic as leverage.

So am I in the case of T.V's . But on a small handheld device I am not so convinced. Plus LCD screens have come a very long way. And for Nintendo to shout about the quality of the screen I am not worried in the slightest.

$449 is pretty rough for what you are getting. $399 would have been easier to swallow but the hardware IS a bit more capable than I thought it would be. I laughed at people thinking the screen would be 4K but 1080p, 120hz and HDR is a step up and I'm pretty shocked that the dock supports 4K. While these aren't cutting edge specs, they also aren't underpowered either which is standard Nintendo affair. It looks to be a solid system.

I don't know about day 1 but I'll get it of course.

In a world where Sony is selling fuckin stands for 30/40 $/euros and plastic fucking covers for 60-70 euros, I think I am OK with Nintendo's offering.
