Wonder what happens to Bungie if this completely flops. A fully priced extraction shooter sounds like a recipe for disaster.

3 to 4 maps sounds perfectly reasonable for an extraction shooter. If this launches at 70 dollars though then...... yay no comment.

It probably doesn't help Bungie made Destiny 2 F2P. I had to google the date, and it's been F2P since Oct 2019 (just 2 years after launch).

So any gamers who play Destiny 2 (or dont but know it's F2P like me), go off the recent pricing. And Bungie's latest game pricing for a shooter is F2P for 5 and half years.

On the other hand, Activision and BF never make their shooters dirt cheap. It's always full price at launch and then you get discounts later like any game going on sale. And aside from Warzone, I dont think COD or BF has ever gone F2P for an entire game. Thats why nobody expects these shooters (or Gears, Halo, KZ etc.... ) to be free. But Bungie will dump Destiny 2 as F2P.

This was already debunked by Bungie.
It clearly won't cost 70$.
But it certainly won't be free, there's obviously a huge amount of effort and AAA quality in the game.

Long term monetization of a game should not have a lead in price, it should be free. If it does, then any sort of monetization model it is built around shouldn't create an advantage for players willing to purchase, and in a game like this where loot creates an advantage, that's obviously bad. We don't know how it will all work, but the F2P model is preferred for multiplayer games for a reason.

I play both single and multiplayer games and I think this looks incredibly boring. l wish them good luck, they are going to need it at full price. If you can't handle people having different opinion from you, maybe consider staying off the Internet.
 
I find it funny that the OP didnt got anything right in the thread tittle.

The game will not be full priced
The game is not a battle royale
The game will have 4 maps, 1 one of the maps being added later so tecnically not that wrong for the launch.
 
Three maps for an extraction shooter isn't that bad, it's very different than maps in a tdm game.

Having said that I give this game a very low chance of success.
 
I honestly and realistically thought the graphics were going to be like that cinematic story video they just put out. But it actually looks more like a VR shooter.
 
It should be F2P. Not doing that for a PVP game is crazy after the Concord catastrophe.

And that's before all the microtransactions they'll undoubtedly cram in.

I'm there day one at full price because this game hits all the notes of what I want.

That said. $70 will be a death sentence for this game…
 
Yeah this looks good. If it's priced $50-$60 or so I am down for it. Any more than that and I can see it struggling unfortunately

Tom Henderson doesn't work in gaming.

He wouldn't be able to give you the reasons why Bungie is waiting to announce price. I'm sure Bungie leadership could give a few reasons why they're doing it.

Games media works in games media because they're not intelligent enough to work in games.
 
If $70 w/ no microtransactions and free additional maps, it will be fine.

Presuming COD or GTA VI doesn't release that month or anywhere around it.

It releases same week as Borderlands 4 as well. I actually think this could hurt Borderlands 4, more than the other way around.

According to Skillup's hands on preview, the stuff a gamer collects or earns during a season is wiped when then next season starts. This is where gamers who really want to win will buy mtx right away (if those perks they want are available) when a season starts so they dont have to grind to get it. Really comes down to what kind of mtx is available to purchase.

Yeah, that doesn't sound promising. Maybe that will change after Bungie receive feedback from the alpha.
