Most PC games not being physical goes back well over a decade now, I don't understand your angst.

And even if they were physical you would be getting nothing more than a code in a box.

I can only assume you're trolling.
Last physical game i bough on PC was TES Online, it came on a DVD case and when i opened it, instead of a disc, there was a card with a code in it. I must have looked at the case for 10 minutes thinking...

And that was the last time i bought a PC game at full price. Now the only games i buy on PC are either indies or when they go on promos and i can get them for cheap.

I love it. This is why the PS5 Pro is really going to take off this year.

One might hope you keep on pirating PC gamers, you are only hurting your platform. You don't see its faults anyway, so you are 100% immune from the damage you are causing yourself! It really is a win win. We both win when you pirate.

Still buttblasted about Sony PC ports I see

Still piracy. Still leeching off someone else's work
But not theft. They're 2 different concepts hence the existence of an infographic.

People keep trying to equivocate the two like they're fundamentally the same thing.
not saying that I do pirate, hell i avoid playing games until I can be sure to own them on steam, unless abandonware or console. But a pirate is not a thief. 🤷‍♂️
We both win when you pirate.
How's it a win for you?

I thought you were going to say that the games have DRM that might prevent you from using the games you want with mods for those settings. I mean you know since the first half of the post was a big PC flex with 21:9 and all that and how you can't accept anything else/less.

We never really arrived though.

I'd be happy if PC games also released on physical personally.

I wouldn't buy games that way, but I have no reason not to want that for my friends who do.

It just isn't that way.. and people still aren't FORCING you to pirate lol

Game SHOULD BE on the disc, blu ray supports up to 100gb, external blu ray drive is not expensive
So you can either add it to your collection or resell

That ship sailed like 20 years ago.
That's why only console publishers getting my money
For 25 last years that I am buying games

Sorry mate, the battle is lost. The corpos won and most of us cheered them on. Best we can hope for is that legislation one day swings in the favour of the us, the customers. But I'm not holding my breath.

I want to buy a game and
if its a great game ADD IT TO MY PHYSICAL MEDIA COLLECTION
if its a shit game SELL IT
Or you could just refund it in full..... (as long as you are within refund requirements)
Can't do that with physical. Best you can hope for in most realistic cases is less than 1/3rd of what you paid.
You CAN get more, but most of the time not nearly as much as people claim.
Alternatively, with digital, just wait for a deep sale and pay less than you would get back if sold as physical.

I've been buying console games since the Sega Mega-Drive (Genesis) and PS1 era, and in the current generation, I purchase them for PS5.

PC gaming has undeniable advantages.
For example, only on PC you can truly experience the NEXT-GEN feeling - playing at smooth 120 FPS in 4K resolution.
Add a 21:9 ultrawide aspect ratio to that, and it's pure ecstasy!
Imagine the leap from 4:3 to 16:9 - going from 16:9 to 21:9 (with 120 fps) is just as revolutionary. THIS IS THE NEW GENERATION.

So why are they forcing me to pirate games?
I want to buy my favorite titles and keep them in my personal collection.
I'm even willing to pay for them despite developers often lacking the basic competence to include such simple features as disabling the HUD, unlocked framerate, or proper ultrawide support in cutscenes (which modders can fix with simple patches).

So

I WANT TO BUY GAMES ON PC ON PHYSICAL MEDIA

FUCK YOUR DIGITAL-ONLY GAMES

NO PHYSICAL COPY? OK, TORRENTS.
Who the fuck builds a pc in 2025 with a physical disc reader?

Don't be like this. Get your shit on GoG download and make 3 copies on 3 HDD's

youre stuck in the past, even sony has games that need online like gt7. the ps5 pro drive requires internet, you are in for a rude awakening when the ps6 is digital only.

The problem is that you are too late to start that fight. The physical train on PC has long gone many years ago and most ppl got used to it. But keep the good fight on the console space to delay the inevitable as much as possible. Thats what i do.

I used to pirate everhing on PC, and still pirate some, but having a digital game collection where it receives the recent updates and patches in an oficial way, is worth at least the price they ask when the games go on promos IMO.

You don't have to do most things. Sometimes I want to play a game but I find out I don't like or disagree with some content in the game. Then I do something else. There's so much stuff to do in life, even within the same hobby.

Buy game on GoG. Download game installer. Burn Disc with game installer inside.
Or buy game on Steam, install game. Then right click on game and click "back up game files". Burn disc with file inside.

There, you have a physical copy of your game that you can reinstall later. It's kinda stupid but you can do it.

Are you okay? No one is defending publishers. I don't know if you just came out of cryostasis or some shit, but physical copies of PC games with data pressed on discs have been gone for over 10 years. If you're lucky you may find some Kickstarters, or similar sites actually pressing discs if that's something they wanna do, but that doesn't happen often.

That's why only console publishers getting my money

So, then what's the point of this thread? You're saying you want to buy physical pc games, but they don't exist anymore. People have tried to give you the best alternatives, but you shot them down. You're barking up a tree that just doesn't exist. People in here aren't defending publishers or are against you, it's the reality of how things go nowadays.

Even physical PC games started to come with keys. The discs were just to avoid having to download everything.

Buy the games and resort to pirating if you ever lose access to them in the future.

I've been on Steam for over 20 years and can't think of any games that were just taken away from me. Anything that no longer works, for example online games that have been shut down, wouldn't work even with a physical copy.

I will always vote with my wallet
I am buying discs and cartridges

No options? Ok, pirating is always the option

its publishers job to do, not mine

i dont like steam since its drm.
Steam is NOT DRM. A lot of games on Steam have DRM as one of Steamworks options and most publishers use that since there is no extra cost and no reported impact to performance. It's also very easy to crack relatively speaking.

Other Steam games may utilize 3rd party DRM like Denuvo or whatever god forsaken shit Capcom uses for extra f-u to customers.

However there are non-DRM games on Steam as well and it's up to developer and publisher as to what they want to utilize.

Best way for non-DRM games is to get them on GoG though since you can download offline installers but not all publishers have their games there and certainly a lot won't have new games on GoG.

still nintendo switch has to be the most friendly physical gaming console..

I personally stopped giving a fuck after mid gen ps4 i still but ps5 copies. But they all seem so fucking worthless to actually own. Besides well most switch games

What PC case do you have that has space for an optical drive.
Pics or it didnt happen.

Did 0xEMPRESS get released from the asylum?
Otherwise you aint pirating any game with Denuvo till she comes back to reality.

Ok.

Now link me to the gog page for... Rise of the Tomb Rider or Shadow of the Tomb Raider.
Link me to Nier: Automata... OK maybe you feel I'm annoying, asking for older games...

Horizon Forbidden West then?

There is a way to pirate denuvo, if you really want it

If you accept that taking something without permission is theft, then piracy falls right into that definition. There's no special exception because it's digital.

Did you know that Steam lets you create offline installers for games that you own and have downloaded? Right click on a game in the steam library and choose "back up game files". Of course you have to own the game on the Steam account you're reinstalling the game on, and the rest may depend on what kind of DRM each game uses.
