UK PSN account permanently suspended? Help?

I think at this point (we are over the 6 months point now) it's becoming increasingly out of this forums hands to deal with. We don't know whether he was hacked, used a fraudulent CD key by accident, connected a Game Genie to his PS5 or something else.

Without Sony responding, which seems surprising since this is a big forum and I would expect someone from there support team to give a heads up, we can't ascertain the fate of OP's account. If OP feels like he can't get an answer through procedural means, he should press on through legal means until he gets one.

We can take guesses, but guesses are just that: guesses

Edit: And no shouting on twitter isn't going to work because nothing ever happens on the internet.

Just to be clear. My first PSN account is from USA. Then I moved to Europe and opened a local account to be able to redeem codes for my physical games and also buy DLCs. I still use my USA account as my main because of friends and trophies. Am I at risk of having my account banned?

Thanks in advance for your responses!

No.

Even my shitty country have consumer protection agencies, forget about getting this amicably just make them lose in small claims.

I gotta say, I completely understand people being skeptical of these things, because the horrors of them being real are the stuff that nightmares are made of. No one wants to think that anyone can lose access to all their digital titles, over what basically amounts to nothing egregious, but it does seem to happen to a select few as of right now, but what if these occurrences happen at much higher rates?

On the other hand, fuck these people who are victim blaming, as if even it were true they'd somehow deserve to lose their entire paid libraries? And those making fun of the situation are even worse. You wouldn't laugh if it happened to you or someone you know.

Just seems too extreme to be true. If we are getting the whole story then it is incredibly shitty. But this is a poster I'm not familiar with and that does have some bearing on my skepticism. If it were you or reinking reinking or others who post regularly then I'd not question it at all. Not saying anyone is lying. Just no way to know unfortunately.

Hope he is able to get it resolved but after so many months, I think that ship has sailed.

Who remembers this thread from not that long ago:

That's even tame compared to what we had before. I can't remember exactly, but it was a bizarre thread with the OP insulting everyone; it turned out his friend had used his account or something similar. He got banned, understandably.

I vaguely recall that. Bizarre

because even if Valve bans you, they usually a)Tell you the reason and b)Take away only a certain key or c)Ban you from MP. At least this is my understanding.
Valve can and has nuked entire accounts for using vpns to circumvent the store's regional pricing. It's why whenever someone asks about how to go about activating a region restricted key on steam, I tell them to not even open the store page, have it default to library view and don't touch anything else.

Without knowing the reason it's hard to say, is there any governement consumer website in UK?

You could also ask on reddit as well.

No, i have a USA and a LATAM account for years.

Yeh I still use them on a regular basis because of how well their customer service handled the situation, but it's still very much an at your own risk situation.

No chance I'd use them for anything other than games for steam (which is their bread and butter anyway).

my favourite CDkeys thing is when you go to see your key and it's a photo of the back of a physical box from some small EU country lol

I know two people who have googled CDKeys and have ended up on a site with a very similar name, but who get keys from dodgier sources and the support was awful so that's something to be careful about. The sponsored link can be another site, although it seems to be the real one at the moment for me.

The support I had from CDKeys was top notch the two times I had issues.

I remember abusing the Javelin glitch back in MW2, getting console banned on 360 and couldn't make another account. Couldn't even play games offline because games don't save anymore once a console is banned, so my discs were useless. Explaining that to my parents was fun. Any console that you connect to online you are at the mercy of that company at all times.
Bro that glitch was goated especially if you had your whole team doing it. On PS3 you couldn't be reported or banned!

I checked my post history and other users were sharing their codes too but they probably didn't cancel their preorder when I think about it.
What is so frustrating about this whole situation is that you can't contact the moderation team that makes this decision.
They don't offer any system to try a reason with them on the decision that's made.
I've emailed their general manager and UK lead Mark Bowles and also Amir Vonsover Global Vice President, Litigation, Employment & Compliance at PlayStation but have received nothing in reply.
Did you try emailing Ken Kutaragi?
I bough Spider man remaster on cd keys (when game wasn't available to buy on PSN at all, only in MM) years ago and my account is fine.
Doesn't mean he'll be fine. Surely you see the logic flaw here.

Have what? Buying vouchers from cdkeys is not illegal. Even if, user don't have to know that
It's not illegal but it's possible a key you get from there was created through fraudulent means and if a stolen credit card for example does a charge back Sony will take that out on the account that activated the key. Sony don't do discount's on PSN credit so if a website gives you a discount go figure. Best case scenario your key is part of a money laundering scheme so will never get charged back.

@Forth
Hello I've had my UK PSN account since PS3 with same PSN ID and email. I had my account permanently suspended in August and have constantly reached out with emails but had not one single reply. They didn't even send me an email to state what the fraud claim was. I've always used my personal credit card and have over 600 digital games on my library that I've been locked out of. I'm hoping that there is someone on this forum that could help. Thank you for any advice and support
So you got banned for a Dodgy CD KEYS code. Best case scenario you can get Sony to allow you to replace the credit you lost.

I hate to say it, but in terms and conditions I think they do have a clause that allows them to deny you your digital games when they want. Technically you do not "own" the game, you just have a license for it.

And this is why you buy physical copies over digital copies. Physical copies also have a "license", but they can't brick your disc drive if you get account banned (On playstation anyway, Xbox can brick your console to my knowledge).
But there's nothing dodgy about buying digital through PSN. CDKEYS etc is the problem.

That's interesting. I was under impression they took away keys in question and didn't ban the whole account. I wonder if this was repeated offenses.

I offer to be your lawyer OP, you go ahead!

I get this when I try to appeal my account suspension.
kCcvQe1.jpeg

I'm pretty sure you cannot appeal beyond 6 months so this is why you're getting this message. It really sucks though, I think Sony is complete bullshit that they deny you access to your digital library. I understand if they wouldn't allow you to play online anymore, but you should be able to download your purchases and play them offline.

I've spent thousands of dollars on PSN and if they locked me out of it, I would never give Sony another dime, I'd go full PC.

How does this work exactly? Where can you get codes for PSN games to distribute on CDKeys in the first place?
Even though Sony has stopped releasing codes of their digital games, there are instances where they still do.
Mostly pack ins from Super Deluxe sets and PS5s.
It is how I was able to get Astro Bot for $35 this weekend.
I think there were keys for God of War and Horizon.

But, how about a warning? How about just revoking the key for that game and a warning?

Right, but those codes aren't purchasable separately. It's not like Steam or Xbox where you can buy a code to gift, in which case a chargeback in those instances would make sense. I don't see that happening with these PSN codes that are available on CDKeys.

Nah man, they don't. Not always at least.

I was specifically told that the key that got revoked by Steam was because it was stolen.

They are by far the best and most reliable grey market keystore but they don't always get their keys through official channels.

This has me thinking, what about shopto? I get all my codes from them as they are 15% off, most of the time.

I'm on page 3, haven't read each post but did you get an email with the specific reason(s) from PSN, OP?
I didn't receive anything from PlayStation, I went on my PS5 on a Friday evening and saw the notification on my screen and couldn't access anything tied to my account.
I then downloaded the app and received the same message, tried the website too but still same message.
I then had to wait until Monday morning to call their customer service support which is useless but I don't blame the team on the other line because it's obviously outsourced and they probably have low level access to our information too.
After escalating the issue I they were then able to tell me the account was permanently suspended due to fraud but they'll never tell me why, this is were my frustration really lies.
Apologies for wall of text.

Contact customer service that you didn't receive an email. Ask them to resend it. That should be easy for them. Then we can get more details about your case.
I've asked them to resend it but they just shut me down and tell me there's nothing more they can do.
I've pleaded with them to elaborate more on what the fraud charge is but they say they are not allowed to.

Man that sucks and is kinda ridiculous TBH.

The only thing I can suggest is to bring it up on social media, twitter etc, and make a fuss.
Thank you for the advice but I'm not in any social media sites, I'm quite privacy conscious to be honest.

No idea about shopto these days to be honest.

Last time I used them was over a decade ago when I was in the UK so no idea on their current status.

The best thing to do would be to email/contact them and ask how they source their keys. If they fail to give you a clear answer (or don't answer at all) then it's clear they don't get all their keys through legitimate means.

A big misunderstanding that has been ongoing for over a year?

I can totally understand your point because I've been there too, reading posts about people who ere in my position before it happened.
And I can see that sometimes people aren't being honest but I really wish you knew my character better as this is something that I never thought would happen because I've taken as many cautious steps that I possibly can.
Regards.

This is the third time he's reported account issues here. Something doesn't pass the smell test.
The account issues I've reported are all from the same account.
The reason why I've decided to try and get it back months later is because I'd like to try and get back into PlayStation games and the console in general.

Gotcha. Well....not sure what posting here is going to do other than just get frustration off your chest. I could understand that as well though.

A good tip for any CD Bros out there. Always have a balance on your account to cover any potential chargebacks. For example buy your money laundered CD Keys in 50's and always have at least 50 in your balance. You'd have to be very unlucky to receive multiple chargebacks simultaneously.

I see you Pablo.

One thing that makes me skeptical of this thread is he has an old thread on it. Why not just bump the old thread instead of making it appear to be another ban?

As for fuck victim blaming. I do agree with that. No company should be able to remove an entire gaming library based on a single incident. Period. IMO, maximum should be to remove the title/funds in question for account purchases and for behavior to remove them from PSN. To lose an entire library that dates back to previous generations is brutal but this is the digital only future many want. 🤷‍♂️
I agree and I apologise. I should have just bumped the older thread.

Companies respond to numbers. OP stated he has more than 600 digital games. Calculate roughly the total cost and include it in the email.
The other issue is that when they permanently suspend your account they also prevent you from accessing your transaction history.

I see you Pablo.
I'm asking because you can't purchase codes directly from Sony to distribute, so the codes available on CDKeys aren't ones that can be bought separately with a credit card to distribute and therefore can't be charged back. So, purchased PSN codes off CDKeys should technically be fine.

No need to apologize. The previous thread would have provided previous interactions. I do think it sucks and as I said in your original thread, if it ever happens to me F Sony, MS or whatever company does it. I will never invest in one of their products again. I do buy a lot of my games physically but I am not sure it would matter. I would never play them anyway.

If this is what happened and was possible then I would do it but they're not even giving me the option.

Yep. Quick replies too. CDKeys is my favorite "shady" keys seller.

I'll be honest that it feels good to communicate about it because none of my family or friends are gamers so they would never understand.

Pre-ordered more than 14 days before the release date

  • All criteria in the checklist below must be satisfied to be eligible for a refund unless the content is faulty.
Pre-order refund checklist
Refund request has been made before the release date.
Main part of the content has not been downloaded or preloaded.
If your pre-order includes immediately accessible extra content (for example, pre-order bonus content) and you have not started to download the main part of your pre-order, the extra content stops working if you cancel your pre-order.

When you call to try to initiate a refund, the agent is able to see if you've downloaded any of the content. I've had previous refunds decline because of this.
They consider a download of anything even if it wasn't played a reason to decline that refund.
But if they were going to permanently suspend my account they should have at least allowed me to repurchase the content if it meant that they would permanently suspend my account.
I just don't understand any of it because they wouldn't explain it to me.

I read the other thread by OP. He mentions that Sony sent him an e-mail to recover his account and he clicked on it to change his password. He also mentioned that 2FA didn't activate when he did that. Maybe he fell victim to phishing as recently I also received a similar e-mail, but didn't click on the link as I never asked to change my password and I only use unique password for PSN.

The e-mail in my case looked legit (the address is said to be used by Sony), but I believe it was a spoofed e-mail.

No one actually changed my password. So, I was correct in ignoring that e-mail.
This is the answer.
Never click links in any emails.
Always go to the browser and input the Url yourself.

Well that would make sense, but who knows. If not I guess grey market keys are more harshly looked at from Sony. Probably a key you bought was revoked for an unknown reason or if you use too many keys from outside your region it flags the account, it flagged back to your account since you implemented it as other have said before.
