What game are you currently playing?

Cookie Clicker on PS5.

Yes, yes, PC scraps years later. If any Cookie Clicker vets are willing to lend a hand, I have some basic questions about the game.

Tainted Grail: Fall of Avalon on PS5.

I entered the second map. I made my way towards the first main quest objective there but stopped just before it. I am focused on One Handed and Spirituality. I am still using a Spear I found fairly early on; it has nice bonuses for guaranteed Criticals on enemies with full health, and also some Bleed effects. In the other hand I use magic for lightning, fire, or bleed depending on the enemy.

Still Apex mainly on PS5.

Not touched Nightreign since last weekend. I think it's finally happened; I'm too old and too busy to invest the time in From Software's games. I'll still buy Duskbloods but there's a number of issues with Nightreign to me that I can't see them looking at.

Tried to pick up Skyward Sword HD agin today as it's the only 3D Zelda I've never played. Just seems like a compete snooze fest after BOTW and TOTK.

Playing Thief (Gold) on Expert. That first mission alone was more tense than many other stealth games I've played.

Loving the atmosphere and sound desing, as good as ever, even more so while emulating EAX which makes the spatial sound amazing.

Danjin44 Danjin44 hope you enjoy the new Fantasy Life game. That girl sure stole a ton of my time. :goog_relieved:
The game Super charming and I always liked Level 5's after school anime artstyle.....And yeah this grindy game but in really good way, you just lose yourself hours up on hours of just doing quest and increasing each lifestyle (job).

Really liking the game so far.

Finished Project Gotham Racing 4.
Medals in every Arcade Event and #1 Ranking in Career Mode. So I guess that's what you call "finishing" the game.

It's definitely easier than PGR 2. The street races, especially. I like the new events. I hated the bikes.
Still a looker if you have the right display for it. The ability to completely remove the HUD is a big plus. That's how I played the entire game. Good car selection, including at least one that you can't drive anywhere else (Joss Supercar).
Pure interactive fun without any stupid cross-genre additions.
A few small gripes. The game is a bit too dark. No option for a high rear camera. The rolling starts are poorly implemented on some of the events. But you can adjust to all of that.

Top notch development effort.

Skull and Bones. Thought I'd give it a try since it got added to plus and I love it. It might be a completely different game than it was when it launched a year ago but I think it's great, better than SoT.

Popped in some Binary Domain after reading some heathenish comments about it not being a good game on GAF. tsk tsk.

It's so frickin' good. Came out at a great time to show that the RGG studio was no one trick pony, as well.

Bonus that the Xbox version has FPS boost and runs pretty damn flawlessly. The PC version is also often on ridiculously low sales.

Great shooting, good story and characters and a pretty robust companion trust mechanic which radically changes their fates and the ending(s) to the game.

I loved the gameplay but the amount of cutscenes was frustrating as fuck to me. I remember even then, when I was much more accepting of that, being pissed that the game would often drop you in an arena and back into a cutscene that lasted longer than the fight. If this game had just taken the reins off for longer and gone full Contra, it'd be up there with some of the best TPS imo. The pacing kind of killed it for me.

Talos Principle 2

This game has really taken me by surprise. I knew nothing about the differences between this and the first entry, and I think they've done something really special with the sequel. I'm closing in on the end now, and haven't actually found the puzzles too difficult. Perhaps its easier than the first game, or maybe they're just a lot better designed. I fear this game has gone somewhat underappreciated, which is a great shame.

I haven't progressed all that far in the new Doom game, because at a higher difficulty it kicks my ass in some harder encounters, but it might be my favourite of the new Dooms. It's really about how you use tools at your disposal. You either suck or feel invincible and when it clicks, it is simply magical.

Never ever played any of the series, it's always been Forza for me, this one another for the back-log, the fact that it does have bikes in it is a welcome change in some ways from just being restricted to cars only...Horizon 5 missed a great opportunity to include bikes considering the territory you are in (Mexico)

Finished Avowed on Sunday. Still liked it overall, but I was very disappointed that the story turned into "everything is trauma." So many modern stories are just that, and I'm sick of it.

Started the Space Marine remaster this morning and looking forward to slaughtering some orks. And feeling very confident the game won't lecture me about healing trauma.

....Just following on from this post, I decided to purchase a copy of this game, never played any of them before, so I am looking forward to going back to the 360 and seeing what the fuss was all about circa 2007

Crow Country: great entry in the survival horror genre, I was really invested in unraveling the mystery. The game has a lot of personality even if it's clearly inspired by classic Resident Evil. It's short but sweet, I like how they get a lot of mileage out of a small map. I wanted to play it with tank controls but they are implemented pretty badly, playing with modern controls is much better.

Mouthwashing: you don't need a big budget to create a memorable experience. This is a must play if you like psychological horror. It's short so don't look things up, just play it.

Nioh 3 demo. I thought the second game was lazy as fuck, and should've been an expansion for the first title, so i skipped it. Now that i haven't played Nioh in some time, think i'll grab the new one when it comes out.

Can you explain more what you mean by "everything is trauma"? I might play Avowed eventually, and I'm curious about the quality of the story.

dropped Expedition 33, Oblivion and GTA 5 for Mario kart world. not sure when I'll get back to the other games as mkw is very, very, very addictive

its all I've played since I got it

I know you didn't ask me, but I thought the story was okay. it just takes a while to really develop. I can't speak for him, but the story is extremely bleak. Even when you are given options, it is often just a choice between 2 awful decisions where people will get hurt no matter what you do. fwiw the side characters in your party are amazing and their dialog and quests are very good.

I know when the game first came out, people were complaining that no matter what, you get "bad" endings and stuff.

the game is all about world exploration and combat though, both of which it does VERYgood

Finished Iron Meat, a pretty nice run and gun game. The developers released an update not so long ago that adds a few things.

I played it in single player but most likely it's more fun with two players. If you are a fan of Contra, Metal Slug and the likes, you should give it a try. Maybe get it on sale if you plan to just play it once, you can finish it on Normal in less than 2 hours.

Finished all the Last Light DLC before starting the campaign (that's the wrong way, I know). Now playing through the campaign, Chapter 12.

Edit: Forgot to say on Switch 2.

Well, answering this properly would spoil some major plot stuff. So I will answer this in a vague way--but I'm still going to put the whole thing behind spoiler tags, just in case.

There's a major character who's done some things that seem really bad, but you learn that they only did the bad things because another group had been cruel to them when they were young. And the major moral choice you make is to either express empathy and trust this major character (which the game makes very clear is the right choice) or to choose the "impose order" option and keep them from possibly doing more bad things. Also, you acquire 4 party members over the course of the game, each of whom has a side quest where you get to know them better and help them. And every one of these involves, you guessed it, helping them resolve their feelings about a traumatic event from their past.

It's not handled badly, and the characters definitely have their charm. There's a reason people compared this to Mass Effect, after all (although the characters definitely are not anywhere close to ME in terms of being memorable). It's just that trauma has become the go-to theme for so, so many things that have come out the last few years, and I'm tired of it.

Edit: I will add that the other thing that got under my skin is that all of your party members have essentially the same perspective on the game's major choice. Again, to compare to Mass Effect, 2 had party members literally screaming at each other over the game's major conflict, whether to work with Cerberus. But here, the conflict is basically "anarchy vs rules," and all of the friendly characters are Team Anarchy and the important Team Rules character is literally Skeletor.

Gotcha. I imagine a lot of that comes from the writers, who presumably are steeped in the therapy culture of California et al. Everyone is dealing with "trauma."

I didn't read the spoiler section, because I haven't played the game yet, but I appreciate you taking the time to explain.

American fugitive

Its OG GTA (top-down view), but with a 3D and isometric view. All this talk about the Precinct, made me curious about checking out the guys' previous work. Its not half bad to be honest. Has all the typical havoc and mayhem you'd find in a GTA game. But, the art direction lacks something. It would've been better if had that gritty/street-ish caricature art style that the older GTAs used to bare. It could use some personality to spice it up and be bit more swag. Overall, a neat little throwback title. Enjoying it for what it is.

Received my copy of Starfox Assault (near enough at full retail price as if it is 2005 all over again..) surprised the title still holds its value to this day....not that I would ever trade it in, as it is the last great Starfox title that's been released, and I doubt Switch 2 will be getting a Starfox Assault 2 .....next week: Project Gotham 4 will be arriving, but before that I should make progress on Indy's adventure, and the Bourne game from 2008....

Played a very small amount of Mario kart world.
Without sounding detrimental, it's just as I expected.
Need more time to get to grips with it obviously.
Not sure how I feel about all the rail grinding and wall riding.
Too much emphasis on taking/remembering short cuts?
Finally got some proper time to sink into it.
It's got some huge shoes to fill after 8, plus, more worryingly, if it has the same legs as 8, I'll be playing World well into my 50s. Fuck!

There's atomfall dlc? Had no idea.

Atomfall started a rabbit hole for me cause then I played oblivion, decided to start another new skyrim character, then bought avalon tainted grail.

I might have a problem cause I've only played balataro in between all this and haven't even tried Mario kart world yet!
