Mind's Eye rushed?

Evil Calvin

Afraid of Boobs
So why was it released? Anyone at all can see there are major bugs and not ready.

Is this another case of appeasing investors and penny pushers?

All games already have day one patches. This needs day one, day two...etc....

So, why was it pushed out? End of June is end of Q2....maybe that is it?

Well, they either run out of money and had to release the game in this state, or the publisher wasn't willing to give them more development time and was insisting to get it out of the door wrongly assuming it somehow will do fine

There is potential there for sure but in its current state it is barely a game. It's not just the bugs but the overall gameplay experience is super barebones.

I guess they ran out of time (thus money). They probably spent a fortune on those cutscenes.

The remaining budget for the game was:

Even if it were a perfectly polished, bug-free game, it'd still get unfairly compared to GTA from all angles. They never should've used Leslie Benzies as a gimmick in the first place.

I feel bad for the team, because the truth is noone will know the extent of the issues as well as they will.

But someone in publishing for no good reason was married to this release date, and now all the effort -including very likely an ungodly amount of crunch- is for nothing. No job security, nothing good to show on their resumes for possibly years worth of work, and abuse and mockery from the peanut gallery...

Its just sad for everyone when a game that's clearly unfinished gets pushed out the door.

Studio was set up way back and they blew through $100s of million. Who knows where the money went.

But they look overstaffed at 300+ employees. How this game required 300+ employees who knows.

But what probably happened is they blew all the money on their community creation thing, went nowhere, then transformed that early concept game years back reskinning it to Mindseye to make sales and hoping gamers latch onto it as a GAAS/community supported game. If anyone watches videos, they look very similar except that other game was very sci fi and Mindseye is kind of modern day with a futuristic twist. But same kind of running around and over the shoulder gunplay.

Maybe they ran out of money?
They built an open world with nothing in it.
Clearly their scope was higher......otherwise they would have just a bunch of bespoke levels and made a straight shooter with some vehicle sections.

Hard to call a game that was in development for 7-ish years "rushed", especially when the studio had 400 employees at one point.

More like they were shooting for the moon with their two-projects-as-one idea and ended up exploding on the launch pad.

But yes, I suspect they ran out of money or the investors who gave them a truckload of cash last year had a deadline demand the studio had to meet.

I have heard that the open world is there as a backdrop, much like Mafia and L.A. Noire.

No, they have always meant for it to be a mega straightforward cinematic action game. And I think it's better for it. There's too much open world shit out there. And as busted as it is, it's still refreshing as hell to play a linear, traditional TPS in 2025.

Refreshing? Lol

There's nothing bold or deliberate about Mindseye's "simplicity", it's barebones because there's nothing under the hood

This isn't a cinematic throwback, it's a technical, creative and commercial failure

Dont worry guys, we just need 2 years and a successful anime and everyone will forget about this launch and broken promises and talk about the game like it always was a master piece!

If it worked with Cyberpunk it would be unfair to not give Minds Eye the same opportunity.

Dude, please tell us some more about how much you think the game sucks. You haven't hit your quota for the day yet :messenger_tears_of_joy:

And it's refreshing to me so lick my nutsack. Two times.

"It's refreshing to me" is the last refuge of someone trying to polish a turd with personal taste

The game's a technical mess, creatively bankrupt, and about as engaging as a PowerPoint presentation with gun sounds

And don't worry, I'll keep pointing it out. Someone's gotta balance out the delusion

Nope. As usual you have no idea what you're babbling about and just repeat yourself ad nauseum like a typical sperg. How long did it take to come up with the PowerPoint line?

Imagine getting this emotional over a tech demo with T-posing NPCs and still thinking you're on the winning side. Take a breath, champ.

Steam refunds are still open.

Took less time than your fragile ego did to collapse under basic criticism.

Just keep projecting, it's the only thing running smoother than this game

Hang on, I've gotta squeeze in two more negative posts before midnight or Sony docks my pay. This smear campaign doesn't run itself, people. Gotta hit that anti-Mindseye quota or the check doesn't clear 💸😎

Bro the only one getting emotional is you. You've been crying about how much you dislike the game for over 24 hours (a game you'll never play mind you, which makes zero fucking sense to keep bitching about it). Your brain simply cant wrap around the fact that holy shit, people can actually honestly enjoy this stuff, blemishes and all. And I got it off PSN thanks :messenger_grinning_smiling: and I won't be asking for a refund. Let me know please if this angers you some more. I love end of the day entertainment like this before I leave work :messenger_beaming:

PS - Can't wait to play some more tonight! I'll keep you updated! DM's ok?

Chuck, you spent all of yesterday personally attacking people and being increasingly hostile in the OT if they had any kind of negative impression of the game. Here you are, a day later, with the same sophomoric responses ("lick my nutsack"? really?) and unhinged hostility as yesterday.

Keep it up and you're going to be joining MMaRsu in the time out corner. Just to defend a mediocre game.

Money ran out ofcourse so they rushed this out. But whats the point of that? Clearly most people didn't buy it, or refunded it. The image of Benzies that got him so much funding is tarnished, the company/brand name is destroyed and you get to see the internet make fun of you.

And what do they get in return, a few million? Doesn't seem worth it.

Lmao, imagine thinking anyone's emotional just because they're calling out a terrible game

If course I'm not buying this trash. It makes zero sense to me to waste hours on something that doesn't click just to prove a point. Meanwhile, you're here acting like defending a game you love means no one else can have a different take. Newsflash: enjoyment doesn't grant immunity from criticism.

Play it, love it, marry it, I don't care. Just don't confuse your buyer's high with actual insight

Also, nobody asked for updates, fanboy. Save the DMs for someone who needs play-by-plays of you pressing X to cope

The louder you defend it, the clearer it is you're just compensating for how bad it actually is (which was very obvious in the OT)

Thats my point.
They made an open world with nothing in it, they should have just made bespoke levels with driving sections(missions) like so many other third person shooter have done before.
Think Gears of War....Mission-->Cutscene-->Mission-->Cutscene-->Driving Mission--Cutscene-->Mission-->Rails Flying Mission-->Cutscene-->Mission.
You can still have the variety of mission types while easily being able to benchmark each bespoke level without needing to always make sure the overworld is performant.

I have heard that the open world is there as a backdrop, much like Mafia and L.A. Noire.

I get that, but they failed at the open world thing, and making an open world is resource intensive both on the developers and on the hardware expected to run the game.
Bespoke levels would be much lighter on everyone, they already have decent cutscenes, so no real reason for the open world at all cept to give people fodder to show how bad their open world simulations are.
The NPC pathing is clearly borked, alot of things in the overworld seemingly just stop working likely because the code is trying to follow so many things and they arent the best coders so things fall through(no pun intended).

I guarantee they were working on a bunch of stuff to flesh out the world but had to drop pretty much everything to get a 'working' game.
If they were laser focused on making just the game that released then that is bad - but they almost definitely had progressed beyond that and had to prune everything back to have something that could be released.
