I would prefer an MS Linux operating system. I would be willing to try Linux, should that happen. At this point I'm expecting an xbox-branded Playstation soon.
$100 price premium added just for the sticker but the usual delusionals think xbox rog ally will be cheaper than the current ones in retail.
Wonder if it will outsell PSVR2 in 6 months
Ah yes, Meta, who reported a $4.2 billion loss in the first quarter of 2025, is a perfect partner for xbox to lose more money with.
Just because MS has deep pockets doesn't mean they don't have a gambling problem

The are in the lead in AR glasses development. The thing that is going to replace your phones eventually.Meta the company made $17 billion profit the first quarter, but yes, the amount they blow on the AR/VR division with absolutely nothing to show for it is staggering. With multiple $10's of billions of US dollars down the drain, they have only released a handful of single-A caliber $10-$30 million games and barely competitive (if not worse) hardware than their comparatively shoestring budgeted competitors (i.e. Valve, Bigscreen, and even Sony which funds their half asssed VR in a Janitors closet of Japanese salarymen). They are paying armies of people multi million dollar salaries to tinker on nothing and accomplish nothing.
People don't want glasses bro. This is why VR is failing. The are in the lead in AR glasses development. The thing that is going to replace your phones eventually.
They aren't even focusing on the quest line now, they're moving towards smart glasses internally. Quest 4 is not coming anytime soon.Meta need to drop the 3S and focus () on the 3.
I don't recommend the 3S.

Strongest of doubt, they just showed off an impossible to manufacture impossibly expensive prototype which would very likely struggle to find a market today at mainstream prices, and admitted they are multiple years away from releasing a radically downgraded barely recognizable version of it that will still be very expensive.
The box features 'Meta 3S Xbox Edition' written on the front, with logos of both companies on the bottom right corner. The VR headset is entirely black, with a green ring around the face panel's edges. Compared to the traditional Meta Quest 3, which is in all-white, the headset is very much on-brand with Xbox.
It sorta can.*Doesn't play Xbox games
Microsoft has been thinking hard on how to do a bigger branding mess than a third generation Xbox called Xbox One, or an Xbox generation called Series.
After some intensive workshops in Whistler, they nailed it: let's do an Xbox branded device that doesn't run Xbox games, but that runs Windows games, and then let's rename the Windows Store the Xbox Store so that all Windows games are Xbox games, but ones that don't work with actual Xboxes.
I mean, that's a god tier mess, couldn't have done a better one even if I tried
It's cheaper if you take into account the included accessories and the Xbox sub but damn is MS stingy, can't even make it a 6 month sub. What does make it a much worse deal is that the Batman promo is over and that's a $50 value that was included free with the 3 and 3S during the promo period.I didn't know it was a $100 more than the same Mets headset.
By the time AR glasses takes off we will probably have devices that go in our ears or hands that does everything a smart phone does. Or even digital contact lenses. No fucker wants to walk around with dumb AR glasses. The are in the lead in AR glasses development. The thing that is going to replace your phones eventually.
This would have made sense like 5 years ago, if you could tether the headset to your series consoles or something.
Is gamepass even on meta?
If there's an S, there will be an X.
They want you to think of Xbox when you think of gaming. Just like you think of Google when you think of internet search engines, or how many people* called every video game a Nintendo in the 90s.Legitimately don't understand xbox's plan at this point. Is it just to devalue your brand to the point of extinction by plastering the xbox logo on every piece of hardware imaginable no matter if it's going to make money nor be good. Like everytime i hear an xbox hardware rumor, i'm left absolutely baffled as to what the hell they're doing.

Nope, this is just an Xbox branded Meta Quest 3S. Think of it as a special edition, like that Gucci-branded Xbox Series X)Is this going to become a vr option / accessory for series s and x consoles? Would be good to have more vr on consoles. But I don't see anything suggesting it will be akin to psvr2. what's the branding point if it isn't series version of vr headset? I don't get it. People will definitely get confused.
Nope, you can only play the standard version. Meta is working on streaming VR games through the cloud so maybe one day.Can you stream the VR version of Flight Sim via GamePass?

Not so fast.
It already sells better by far.Now you know better. Stop playing.

*i.e. moms and dads.
They want Gamepass to be as common as Netflix in people's lives and give the Xbox brand to every device you can play Gamepass on.
If they tried to win by just producing dedicated gaming consoles the Xbox brand would soon have been forgotten.
And only retards wants sticks to aim in first person anything.People don't want glasses bro. This is why VR is failing.
